I believe @PG Cruiseris attempting to get to his ship, so it probably is. Looking more closely at the picture, there do appear to be people in the road on the other side of the curb. SpeedNoodles
I guess I'm just too used to seeing 2000 people walking on i-35W. DJsMrs, CruiseDiva, Baked Alaska and 1 other 3

These rallyists were not walking, they were lying on the road. Not that many but they still blocked the entrance. I panicked a bit because the cop told me there was no other way into the port. Good thing I asked another cop who told me about the tunnel. Persistence pays ha ha Neesa, Baked Alaska, PPPJJ-GCVAB and 1 other 3

LOL Waze was originally taking me through the tunnel but I missed turns here and there. I was rerouted to Port Blvd.
SpeedNoodles
I really thought the tunnel was the only way in.

This is my first time driving to Port Miami. I’ve always taken airport transfers and I didn’t pay attention to the routes. Our Uber driver last time had to take an alternate route that didn't use the tunnel because the normal roads were closed because apparently people like to pay to get up early and run in the streets for medals. We somehow ended up at a dead-end on the wrong side of fence to get to the terminal. The non-tunnel way is for trucks and the like. twangster
The non-tunnel way is a drawbridge, the original method that existed before the tunnel was built. Hazardous cargo can't use tunnels so anything considered hazmatt has to go this way. If you stay in a hotel downtown you will probably be routed this way by default. I enjoy getting up early to run for medals. I would not, however, enjoy it on the roads in Miami. I'll stick to the mountains.
