What is your favorite ship? And Why?

I will start-   Oasis since the $165 million they poured into her drydock.  We love the Oasis class and just about sail this class only anymore.

We are pretty active and love all the nightlife.  Two years ago New Years Eve. was a sea day and my fit bit recorded  we walked 11 and 1/2 miles ---without leaving the ship.

I guess my post in the other thread was deleted. I will try again. I sailed symphony previously and was Blown away. I will be sailing odyssey in December and am quite excited to sail a quantum (ultra) class ship. I know matt has said His favorite ship in the fleet is harmony previously. I am curious if that is still the case after he sailed odyssey.

Go on Oasis too since the amp.  It has 2 pub singers one in Globe and Atlas and the other plays in Portside BBQ.

This never occurred to me until I was on the Allure and asked our favorite Pub singer Charlie Jourdan if he knew another pub singer we liked.  He replied no and I was like really?? Charlie said that there is only 1 pub singer per ship so we never meet..

Oasis of the seas. My wife and I sailed on her for our honeymoon. It was our first cruise together and both of our first time cruising an Oasis class ship. We were blown away by the beauty of the ship, Central Park, and the incredible entertainment. Oasis class continues to be our favourite class of ship although we do enjoy the other classes as well.

Oasis although I’m on Symphony in a week. Then on Wonder than odyssey. I’ll come back in a year and tell you! Lol

I’m a big Central Park fan and miss it on every ship that doesn’t have it.

I absolutely love Central Park. Pound for pound the trellis bar is my favorite bar on symphony. It’s just so peaceful and usually upbeat and great for fraternizing.

Oasis is my favorite. She was the last of the Oasis class ships that I tried and I got to experience her fresh out of an Amplification. Symphony is a close 2nd..but I prefer Portside BBQ to Hooked and that's pretty much makes the difference for me. Otherwise they're more alike than different!

All of them which we have cruised on. Each was unique in their own right (loved all the art on Jewel) and of course the itineraries were great. Best part to use about cruising is you get on board, unpack your bags and chill out. Biggest decisions are what to eat and where. Unlike a trip on land.....check in check out of a hotel and all that happy horse crap. We will gladly cruise any ship Royal has, if the itinerary is of interest to us. 😎

Totally agree. As much as I love oasis class, I just don’t get as excited anymore about the eastern Caribbean ports. (We don’t like western).

We’re at that age where the bucket list is looming and I could care less which ship takes us. We’re on Radiance for Alaska in May. Looking at Jewel for British Isles and Norwegian Fjords.

Oasis class will always be our “sit on our butts in the sun and drink island cocktails” but the others will take us to amazing places. It’s all about expectations. We started with Song of America so have experienced both ends of the spectrum

Well at least we can agree that cruising is the bomb despite our first different team allegiances.

Our favourite ship/class is the Radiance. We have not yet been on an Oasis class, and we love the activities on the Quantum class but the Radiance is perfect for us. We feel the service in the restaurants is far more personable and friendly. The adults area is agreat place to relax and recharge. Sitting by the pool, you do not need to get dry to eat, with the Park Cafe offering a nice salad bar, awesome roast beef sandwiches and the bar staff, with a cheeky tip early, never have to wait for a drink regarless how busy it may get. If conditions are right, they open the roof, and the view of the ocean and surrounds are fantastic. We find ourselves using the stairs more as the ship is quite walkable. Also the number of windows and the glass lift, gives this class of ship more connection to the sea.

So far, Oasis has been the only ship in the RCCL fleet on which I've sailed, and I can already tell I'm going to miss Central Park something awful. My balcony overlooking the park was utter bliss, especially when the acoustic guitar players would begin in the evenings.

I shared pictures of Central Park with my friends and they were in awe that it was on a ship!

All that being said, I'm looking forward to expanding my horizons. Anthem will be up next, along with Independence and Mariner this year, and Serenade next year. It's looking like I'll get a sampling of almost every class and who knows? Maybe my answer will change by next spring! 🙂

I am going to say Mariner, I haven't sailed any oasis or quantum ships yet....it's happening soon though. I don't like crowds and worry that a big ship might show that. Reduce capacity might show me what I am missing. Freedom class seems to be the sweet spot to me: the bells and whistles but not too big. But I also agree that each ship is unique.

I really agree with you about the virtues of the Radiance class.  I love the sleek and elegant lines of this class with all of the wood and I think the Solariums on this class are the most comfortable.  I really like the Radiance class for leisure cruising.  When I want to party, I prefer the bigger ships but Radiance ships are refined and glimpse to an earlier classic time for cruising.

I can't name one favorite.

Some ships pair well with certain regions.  Like wine with a meal there is no single wine that pairs well with all meals.

Ovation holds a lot of special memories for Alaska, Hawaii and Australia/New Zealand.  That ships works well in these regions.

Oasis Class works well in the Caribbean and when sailing a region I've sailed often I appreciate all they have to offer.

Oasis class wouldn't work well in a place like Alaska.  Two, almost three neighborhoods would be empty most of the time making the other neighborhoods less enticing.

Smaller ships for more unique or boutique like itineraries.  Totally bummed Empress won't be here for the amazing Bermuda and Canada/NE routes she was planned to host.  Those would have been stellar.

So for me it isn't a matter of picking a ship as a favorite.  That's like asking me to name one favorite wine or scotch.

Radiance-class ship for my Alaska cruise

Perfect ship for Alaska, we loved it. Always close to a window for the view and as it is port intensive cruise, it is a great ship to have a nice dinner, socialise and re-charge, ready for the next port day. Enjoy, you will love it.

Amen! Put me on any one of them and I'm happy! 😀

I love the newly-amplified Oasis! For me, it’s the ship and not the destination…I usually stay aboard…been there, done that. Except, of course, CocoCay. But, I really like a port-intensive itinerary because most days the ship seems so empty as many guests are out enjoying their excursions.
I also really love the Anthem. My home port is Port Liberty in Bayonne NJ (an easy drive) and I park in the garage steps away from the terminal. Sailing on the Anthem in winter from the Northeast is great! The Solarium is completely enclosed and climate controlled…as is the family indoor pool. And the SeaPlex is great for indoor activities. There’s the NorthStar and iFly and the beautiful Two70.
Always a beautiful sail away on a dark, cold wintry day sailing down the river with ice floating by…as I sit in the pool in the heated Solarium surrounded by green foliage sipping a tropical cocktail (with ice floating) looking forward to the summer weather ahead.😎

Another vote for Radiance Class because of Centrum, movie theater, and sightseeing at the top of the ship.

We also like any ship with a promenade, but our big pet peeve about Oasis class is that we don't like the Broadway shows.  We prefer smaller vessels that focus on Royal's signers and dancers.  Love their shows!
