Price Drop Flex

Recommended Posts

Many thanks to the Facebook algorithms and whatever kind soul in my group for the September 25th sailing on Harmony that posted about a price drop today.

Checked and sure enough, they've had a resident kicker going, so I'm down another $200 on that sailing, plus I picked up another $50 in onboard credit, so realistically a $250 drop.

Now under $2000 total (not including gratuities) for the three of us. 😁

Saw my upcoming Adventure of the Seas sailings had oceanview and balcony for less than I paid for an inside room.  Contacted my TA and they looked into making a switch.  Those rooms had already sold out but I was able to get 62 back and 25 OBC for my inside room so pretty happy about that.  Kinda funny that they refunded the difference instead of doing OBC with it but it all works out in the end.

Unfortunately, with a sold-out cabin category your TA is your only way of doing a price check.  If you give me the sail date I will probably be able to give you the current full retail (no discounts or promos) rate and hopefully that will give you an idea whether the price is up or down but that’s only part of the story…

Hey Waaaaytoo...

maybe you can do what my TA couldn't and let me know the current category rate for my GS (1 bedroom) on Allure 8/20/22 out of Ft. Lauderdale🥺

Ok.  That category is complete sold out, according to the website.  The current UNDISCOUNTED cruise fare (before taxes, etc.) is $4155 PP.  Since the GS suites are all gone, no discounts are shown...so all I can offer is the full fare but it will be enough for you to see if the current price is up or down from what you have now.  Just look at your full fare price (should be the very first number for passenger #1 on your confirmation) and see if it is higher or lower than $4155.

Unless you have significant discounts coming your way, I don't see any way to get this below $2K PP.  If you calculate the standard 30% PP, it would still come to $2908.50 PP.

😱😱😱😱
Holy Moley that's CRAZY high!

It wasn't even that high when we first booked! Literally doubled! That per person non-discount rate is about 200 less our total fare!

Thanks so much for checking. I was worried I was missing out on more discounts but if that's where the base fare is hovering I can't see it coming even remotely close to what we've got booked!

You are so welcome.  Sorry I couldn't provide you with good news.

@WAAAYTOOOis there any chance I could bother you to check one for me as well? Looking for current rate on a 4D Balcony - Quantum on May 23 (Seattle), but showing as sold out for me. ($CAD, if possible). No worries if it's a hassle, not sure you meant to open this can of worms haha!

Absolutely !  I'll do what I can.

I didn't know which Province so I entered Ontario.  If that's not correct, realize that there will likely be a small difference in the net (after discounts) price.  I also did not enter any other "savings" parameters such as C&A level or military, etc.  This will give you a good idea of current baseline pricing (which is generally the best basis for comparing prices to see if there has been any change).  I show 4, 4D remaining for this sailing (13526. 12534, 11312, 8116).

Note:  NCCF is non-commisionable cruise fare....it is a part of the base price, so to get the MSRP, undiscounted price, you must add the "cruise" line and the "NCCF" line together.  In this case, the base cruise fare is 1659 CAD$.

Also note that this does not include gratuities.

I hope this is helpful.

Hello! I'm curious if I booked my  cruise through Crucon Cruise Outlet, will I be able to get my price lowered as well or not?

I booked for Liberty of the seas 4 night perfect day Bahamas cruise for Thanksgiving week.

I'm totally impressed with all the savings you all got after booking. I wonder if I am able to do this as well through Crucon Cruise Outlet? Thanks!

So....not a price drop per se but close enough I HAD to revive this!

So...last night we booked a JS on Harmony for 8/5. It was relatively last minute/spontaneous as we had only discussed it for half a day before pulling the trigger.

This morning I log in to start my normal price drop check and see that the room is now almost $400 more!

Talk about by the skin of our teeth!

Wow, i was excited to see this and then i realized the date it started 🤣

I booked one cruise in December near booking open on Symphony, and now lower categories are priced higher than mine.

I grabbed the last Star Class on one 2025 Odyssey cruise on booking open last week, and now a 2BR GS fare is more expensive than what i paid for SC (where of course UDP, UBP, and grats are already included).

I've been a little shell shocked at the new rates, but we'll just be cruising less, maybe once a year instead of our usual 2-3x.

Also, i only book cruises out of Bayonne so we don't have to fly, and it looks like my NJ resident rate is a thing of the past. Boo. 😪

Just booked a TA on Explorer for 4/23. GTY balcony for 1099. Next day it was at 1250. Pick your own cabin was 1400 more. Timing matters

How does one go about getting the price drop? What are the rules?

As long as you are before final payment, you or your Travel Agent can do a mock booking on Royal's site (basically act like you're booking and go all the up to but not beyond the checkout page). If the final price is less than what you last paid call Royal or your TA and basically have them rebook at the current rate. You want to make sure though that doing so will not impact any deals you had at booking such as OBC so I would highly recommend using a TA.

Do you just compare the final total (plus gratuities and insurance) To your original booking, or is there an easier method by just comparing room rates without going all the way to the gratuities and insurance page?

Sadly no, there isn't an easier way. You can get an idea, of course, by looking at the base fare (IE in my case the base fare went up $400 so there's no way it will magically work out to be less if I go through the whole process) but if it's close the only way to check is to go through the whole process. We all kinda hate that part but I'm pretty sure that, while Royal does honor price drops, they never planned for people to make use of them.

The best way is to just call and see if the price has changed and if it has, and it’s before final payment, they will adjust the balance due.  This is another reason to never pay your full balance ahead of time.  It’s much more complicated to negotiate a price reduction (rare though they are, these days) if your fare has been paid in full. We always leave at least a small balance due until close to final payment date (casino booking excluded as they must be paid in full when booked).

Good add on the “booking incentives”.
