Suggestion about New Year's eve cruise

I’m looking for suggestions about planning my next family cruise: Oasis of the seas – from Miami – Dec 26 – Jan 2

Reserving an interior balcony (Boardwalk or Central Park View balcony) the total price is close to $7,000 including tips and taxes.

My two questions are for those that had have similar the experience, New Year's Eve Cruise.

1 – Does it worth the money celebrate New Year’s Eve on a cruise?
2 – Drink Package: How many you paid in a 7-night cruise for Drink Package?

I have another cruise 3 night cruise on November – and I paid (drink package) 57/night but in a 7 night cruise I think it’s a bit expensive for 4 people.

Plus... the internet, if I'm doing the math correctly... I guess the total should be close to the 9k? for 4 people? Should I wait black Friday or something like that?

I wouldn’t expect the drink package cost to change too much. You can book it now and cancel and rebook if you find it goes on sale for less  Black Friday usually has a good sale but it doesn’t mean it will apply to your sailing.

Are you booking 1 cabin?  Or 2?

if all adults are in the same cabin if you buy a drink package the other adults are required to as well.  The only way out is to call and  tell them the other person doesn’t drink and they will have them purchase the refreshments package (it’s about half the cost as the alcohol package).

thoughts to “get around it”, not knowing the makeup of your family.  Do 2 cabins, less beverage package requirements for adults.  You can bring on 2 bottles of wine per cabin, but they don’t check which carry on bag belongs to which cabin.   You can also carry on 12 bottles of water/soda (be aware of size restrictions.  If you gamble, you can do the $25 table lesson (found in internet section of the cruise planner) and get $25 back in slot or chips plus 2 free drinks, good in the casino.

the cost of internet for 4  is cheaper than buying each person an individual plan.  You click on “internet for 4” and ONLY PICK  ONE GUEST.  That  will get that person a code onboard to enter into up to 4 devices at one time….if you don’t need to stream, it’s even cheaper.  If you only want to chat with each other you can pay for texting through the app at $1.99 per person per day.   If you purchase internet for just 2 devices then only 2 people will be connected at a time., you can share that code with 4 people, but when person #3 logs on it will knock off one of the other two.

BTW, you pay for the drink package  by the #of days a cruise is. So you pay for 8 days for a 7 night cruise.

Welcome to the board.

As for your first question, I think it is worth it to celebrate any day on a cruise 😍. In this case it is not just the holiday but the class of ship as well. Harmony seems to have premium pricing because she was the newest and biggest. I do think the black Friday sale will help. 7/8n cruises often have a cheaper per day cost when it comes to drink packages. My mariner 4n at its lowest was $58 but the 7n Allure went down to $53 once. They will add the 18% gratuity to that price, so at the low $50s you are looking at $500 per person for the week. I would say it is important to go in cruise planner and do a mock up of the prices you see. That way you can get an idea of what things cost and purchase when you feel like the time is right. But don't sleep on a good deal, as "sales" change often. As the other have stated you can work around having to pay for the beverage package for all adults, when some may not drink, by stateroom allocation.

It’s not likely that price will go down.  That’s a holiday sailing.

I normally would have agreed with you but my upcoming Thanksgiving cruise on Oasis has gone down almost $700 since I booked earlier this year so I took advantage of the price guarantee.   Of course Thanksgiving may not be as popular as New Year's but a price drop (technically 2) were unexpected.  Bottom line  It doesn't hurt to keep an eye on prices that's for sure.

Thanks @Ampurp85, Yes that what I did... I booked on today's sale! And for the cruise planner I enter every day to see what's changed.....

@Jverge For my cruise at the end of November I remember I paid $2,492.92 at the beginning of August... and couple weeks later (mid-September) I called to do repricing to 1,643.92.  - 4 adults - 2 spacious ocean view balcony. But as @Ampurp85 said about premium pricing on Harmony...  maybe I won't have similar luck but I would definitely keep an eye for repricing December's cruise as well.

Montana hope this helps you.  I have sailed Freedom of the Seas,Harmony of the Seas, and Oasis of the Seas (twice) on new years sailings. I feel although they are pricey they are worth the extra money.  I have celebrated in downtown Chicago as well as downtown Los Angeles and the party on the royal promenade with the suits and gowns and the festivities totally blew away anything else in my opinion.

Also we will just miss you as we are on Oasis Dec. 19th-Dec.26th. We are on Harmony Dec.26th-Dec.2nd.  I looked at the drink cards for my spouse and I and comes to $1,024.00.

I’ve done several New Years holiday sailings (and currently booked on this sailing as well). It’s a great time and totally worth the premium price to be sailing on New Years especially on an oasis class ship.

Hi all! Another quick questions, looking for recommendations regarding this same topic: New Year’s Eve cruise.

I'm looking to buy the Unlimited Dining Package, but I would like to have a speciality dinner experience on New Year’s Eve (December 31) - Family Tradition

Chops Grill is the only specialty restaurant offering "Chops Grille Holiday Dinner" for $99.99.

So, my questions are:

1 - If I bought unlimited dining package.... Can I have access to "Chops Grille Holiday Dinner"? I guess the answer is NO. So, if no... see my second question.

2 - What option you think should worth more for the money (We're 4 people):

A. Buy unlimited dining package
B. Buy 3 day dining package + Chops Grille Holiday Dinner
C. MDR is a must go for Holiday Dinner (I saw that I can order Chops Grille menu from the MDR)

1 - no, the holiday dinner is not included

2 - personally I would choose B. There is a lot of great free food to chose from!
