Cruise Cancellation - Support Requested

Recommended Posts

Tonight I logged into my RC Cruise Planner to learn that my family and I no longer had a cruise booked. This trip was meant to be a family reunion as we’ve not been able to see each other for almost 2 full years because of covid. Customer service has informed me that emails were sent stating that our cruise was canceled but due to receiving several emails a week from RC, we no longer open and read these emails. I am requesting that my case be re-opened and reviewed. My ask is that we receive price protection for our original booking and are able to rebook a cruise for the same dates in April 2022. Please have it in your heart to make our family reunion happen and turn this experience around for us!

What a terrible outcome, yet just one more reason to use a TA. @Sharlasent me specific emails every single time we experienced a cancellation during this crazy time AND always had options ready for us. I fear as they sent the email and you didn't open it they may not budge but @SpeedNoodlesis correct I usually get a pretty quick response on their Twitter messaging. So as bad as that is they cancelled so you will get your monies refunded, April is a great time to sail so reach out to your preferred travel professional, MEI is a wonderful example and research if they have any group sailings where the rates are discounted. In addition they WILL WATCH for additional price drops and incentives along the way, you can turn this around I promise you. ( note, I am not a TA nor do I play one on TV but boy oh boy I have a great one now). Please come back and let us know how it goes. AND open every single email from them always if just to scan before deleting, I know it is cumbersome but this way you can avoid disappointment in the future. Good Luck, have an amazing new adventure you can turn this around, be well 🙂

Most large corporations offer a filter to use to limit emails…but sometimes before deleting just taking a second to make sure it is just an advertisement rather than information is worth that extra second.  Actually I thought the emails with actual booked cruise info come from a different “address” anyway!
I am sure you will be able to book something (once you find out where your money is) but as far as price protection…probably not. 😔😢

Other than COVID and unforeseen incidents or issues with the ship, what other things would cause a cancellation? Could they cancel the trip if they don't meet a certain minimum booking requirement as well?

Certain times of year there are companies that charter ships to put on event type cruises.  Since I often travel during off peak times to save money these are appealing times for charter companies to charter the ship so I've had a number of cancellations due to ship charters.  This is less likely during peak times because the charter company has to pay more.

It's unlikely they would cancel a cruise due to low bookings.  They would simply offer more casino comp. cruises to Prime casino level members or reduce rates so bargain hunters like me with flexible schedules would jump on board.  If one week is slow it's still better to sail with reduced numbers rather than force cancellations and do nothing with the ship while still paying the crew and the fuel bill to have her sail around empty.  They can't just park a ship for a week and walk away.  So it's very unlikely they would cancel a cruise due to low bookings.

All due respect, you said you ignored the emails that would have told you about the cancellation. I assume then the emails with the future cruise credit info, too.

You need to call them up and rebook

This- I'm sorry your cruise was canceled but you may be past the deadline for rebooking. Call them right away.
