Question about South Beach @ Cococay

I'm sailing with family in the spring, and it will be the first time to Cococay.  4 adults and 1 teen and 2 kids.  I reserved a cabana at South Beach thinking this might be a good gathering spot, a little quieter and also easier to watch little ones in the water.  Yesterday was watching a vlog and the presenter mentioned that he didn't like South Beach because it was to squishy.  Can anyone who has been there tell me how this area is or if chill island is a better choice?

South Beach is closed at the moment because there aren't enough guests with the reduced capacity. Not sure when you are sailing, but in the interim, the decision has been made for you.

Can confirm this was still the case as of yesterday. I believe it is crew only for the moment.

Also, hi from the Odyssey pool deck!

Thank you for your posts.  We are sailing in April 2022.  Can you give me any information about the comment "squishy" in case they reopen by the time of my cruise.  When I heard that it made me think of man made lake that I've gone to that the bottom is not enjoyable.  I thought being an island it would just be a sand bottom area.  I haven't been able to find much information about the swimming is like in that area.  Just content on the cabana's themselves.

My first thought is that South Beach is very out of the way - and a further hike from the ship.  With little ones, I would go with Chill Island.
