No smoking in casino (EU sailings)

Recommended Posts

We are on Harmony from Barcelona and learned that the casino is none-smoking everywhere now.

We researched this matter before the cruise and found no information about it. Even worse, their FAQ on their website still says its allowed (to this day). The tv in our room says its allowed. The booklet (20 pages) they sent us for this specific cruise, said its allowed. Very misleading.

I would be very happy if they stopped allowing smoking in the casinos. Celebrity already has smoke-free casinos.

I would spend a lot more time in there if they'd ban it.

They have always had a smoke and a none-smoking section. But that is becides the point. The point is, they falsely advertise something that does not hold up. It would be the same if they advertised the gym was open and it was not. Or that they served vegetarian food and they did not.

Ok, well the non-smoking section is worthless in there, because it's still everywhere and on many ships it wafts into the bars next to it and up the stairs into the Royal Promenade.
I don't disagree that the signage and everything should match, but that is likely not their priority since they were shut down for over a year and a half and need to spend money on important things. A 20-page booklet was definitely printed well before they shut down.

Calling aprox. a third of the worlds population a very very smal minority is quite a stretch. And since gambling, alchohol and smoking has always been highly connected, I would estimate that the smokers are the majority in an average casino. But again, still not the point I was making with this post. It was meant as a service info to smokers who are beeing strongly misguided.

Strange, I have never experienced those things on our 6 RC cruises (4 different ships). We traveled with none-smokers several times and they found the ventilation to be great and smoke never bothered them, even in the casino.

Anyways, back to the point. When you send the final papers on a product you sold, the final terms/contract should be binding. What if I sold you a car and in the contract it said you where getting a brand new stereo. When I delivered the car it was missing, and I just said "I used an old contract, to bad"?

And booklets that are costly to change? They are electronic documents. So are their FAQ on their webpage and screens onboard. All could be changed in less than 5 minutes with no costs.

We did talk to a manager today. They at least admitted it was a grave mistake from their part, and she would follow up on it beeing changed (the info, not the policy).

I exclusively travel with non-smokers and it bothers everyone. I agree with your overall point, but, again, smoking affects everyone, not just the smokers. I'm glad that the info will be changed.

I absolutely hated the smell of smoke in the casino on FOTS! The smell and the smoke made it an unpleasant experience and if being honest i couldn't wait to get outside for some fresh air....so i headed to the smoking area at pool deck.........yes i was a smoker at the time...about 30 a day and it was bad even for me! Said a few times previously that it should be banned indoors hopefully it is right across the fleet

Smoking among adults in USA has now fallen to about 14%. But that percentage is probably much smaller for those who travel?

Many of the non smokers like myself, do not enjoy staying in the casino for long, even when staying on the nonsmoking side. The air there still smells like cigarette smoke.

I wish there was a separate casino room for those of us who don't smoke.

Can't control STUPID but look a USA figures

2019, an estimated 14.0% (34.1 million) of U.S. adults were current cigarette smokers.

1/3 ? how many of those low income people cruise???

I'm not a big gambler so I tend to avoid these debates.  My wife and I basically do not even enter the casino for any reason (unless it is closed).  In the past, we tried to use it as a cut through and even that was too much smoke.

We have played a little on Celebrity and they seem to do fine with their casino's being smoke free.
