Complimentary casino sailing?

I just received a complimentary cruise from the casino. My level is only Choice with barely 700 credits. I thought only Prime received comped cruises. I'm not complaining, just trying to understand why I got it. Any ideas?

That's awesome !!  There are times (usually when bookings are down) when the casino will extend the complimentary offers to all Club Royale members.

I hope you get to take advantage of a great offer !!

I was definitely surprised. That does make sense though to offer to others when bookings are down. The dates range from November through February. I may see if I can cancel one I have on another line in January and take one of these instead. This REALLY makes me want to move to FL though 🤣

We sailed in July this year from Southampton (the first cruise from the UK after the pandemic) and Anthem was only at 1000 capacity, it was only a 4 night cruise and went to the bay of Biscay and back no stops.

We play in the casino and it was as you can imagine quite empty. When we returned home we received lots of emails with "Great deals" etc but one said we had a voucher from the Royal Casino so DW called Royal and asked as we wanted to book another cruise for October.  As she is on the phone she was getting excited and had to go and give our Crown and anchor numbers to the operator. She then ends the call and says, the good news is I have booked the cruise for 15th October for a 5 night cruise on Anthem again but the better news is we have been given a complimentary cruise from the casino and have been given a balcony suite!!! Could not believe it but am very happy we called! two weeks today we will be in Southampton boarding and cannot wait. (DW has told me not to complain if she spends too much time in the casino again and I won't ).

I haven’t been in a Royal casino in quite a few trips…and when I did, it was very minimal. But I received the email offer for a comp cruise for two yesterday. I have seven choices…all are cruises for either three, four or five days. From Florida, Texas and California. Must book by Oct 20…any sailing up to 12/27/2021. Unfortunately there is no value and it can not be applied towards an existing reservation. So, to me…it’s useless. Oh, well. It wasn’t expected anyway.

They need high rollers!!  (or any kind of roller who's vaccinated)

Royal isn't the only one. We play lots of slots on cruises and after a couple cruises on MSC they've sent us several free cruise offers, including one for an 11 day cruises in an Oceanview room on the Meraviglia. The only hitch is they're in October and November and there's no way we can do that on top of our Allure cruise on Oct 10 and our upcoming MSC cruise in January on the Seashore. I'm happy to have two cruises to look forward to but wow not being able to take advantage of a free 11 day cruise on a ship we love was such an opportunity lost. I can't wait to retire. 😄

yea - we've seen offers from Princess and NCL but ones from RCL are most appealing.

Just got one of the mail-card offers for an interior room. Per the clubroyaloffers website, only choice tier with 0 tier credits.. I wonder why we got the offer? We've done only one cruise on Royal so far, and our other isn't until next year (though it's in the Royal Loft.. maybe that's why?)

What's a bit odd is the clubroyaloffers website also shows 0 offers. Should I see the offer there?

Either way, it's pretty dang tempting..

To our surprise, we too have received Comp Cruises from the Casino. The dates were not convenient for us, and we dont like inside cabins. However, when we checked the small print, the code could be used for $350 off any cruise. That was applied to our March sailing on Allure.  Balance outstanding now is $66.00

We are Choice too, and like you with 0 points. However, a free cruise, or a coupon worth $350 (which is what we had and applied) is worth having. We simply accept it as a freebie from Royal and have never questioned it.

I never go in the casino except to use my Free Play cash - I'm assuming I'd have to at least spend $5 or whatever on slots to be enrolled in Club Royale at the Choice level? Not that I ever plan on gambling enough to earn higher tiers, but if there's a chance they randomly send me $350... 🤣

I am like you, I rarely venture into such a place, they are all totally confusing to me. I leave the gambling to my dear wife who is far better at it than I could ever be,

We do confine ourselves to a $50.00 budget per cruise, and rarely exceed that.

We just received the "book by 10/20" offer and I'm currently combing through options now.  Only trouble is that the Mrs. will need to stay home with the 4 month old so I will probably end up bringing the 2yo.  They're going to be super annoyed when they see $0 spent at the Casino...wonder if I could convince the casino manager to comp nursery costs. 😄

A family member told me MSC also does loyalty program level tier matching.   So if you're Diamond on RCL, they'll put you at an equivalent level when sailing with them.

That's correct, but we need it the other way around... 😄 This is our first sailing on Royal and after our next MSC cruise in January 2022 I think we'll hit their highest tier. MSC has fewer tiers and it's WAY faster to max out, which is probably why other cruise lines don't do matching in the other direction. Otherwise you could max out on MSC really easily and then swap that over to Royal.

MSC is trying to build a US customer base.  It wasn't that long ago they didn't sail here.

The incumbents have no interest in trying to lure loyal MSC guests, there aren't that many based in the US who haven't already sailed the big 3 in the US.  Most MSC Black/Diamond US based cruisers got there from a status match already, granted some may have sailed their way to it but even then those frequent cruisers probably have history with the big 3.  MSC has a keen interest as it builds its brand in the US in luring loyal cruisers from other lines.

It's a low risk move for MSC because you are not upsetting a large MSC organically grown US loyal customer base by easily allowing a status match.  If the big 3 allowed status matches their long time organic loyal customers would scream murder.

I agree it cost MSC nothing to status match us and we've done 2 MSC cruises and in my opinion the big 3 have nothing to worry about from MSC at this time.  I would go on NCL again (I've had nothing but great experience with them) before I get back on a MSC cruise.  Both of the cruises we took were in the MSC Yacht Club "suites" (which isn't a suite at all) and to be honest except for Cirque du Soleil at sea and freshly made Mozzarella we were both underwhelmed by MSC, their onboard employees don't really engage with passengers, their ship layout is strange, and their boarding process in Miami for Yacht Club is a mess.

As far as Casino Royal's offer our post card showed up 3 days ago, I was a bit shocked to get the card because our last cruise will be over 2 years ago when we finally set foot on Symphony later this month.  In 2019 although we did 3 Royal Caribbean cruises that year we didn't spend nearly as much money in the casino like we did in 2018 or 2017 so I was surprised to get this offer.

  • 4 weeks later...

I just booked a 4-nighter for husband and I in April and didn't even think to see if we had any casino offers before booking. Well now I see that he has a $200 OFF instant rewards certificate and a $100 OFF ANY SAILING BETWEEN 1/1/22-5/31/22. We have never paid attention to casino offers before (for some reason, neither of us get emails or physical mail from Casino Royale), but I just happened to check the offers website and saw them today. So is it too late to apply these to the April cruise I just booked a few days ago??

No, it's not too late.  I did exactly the same thing a few years ago.  Unless things have changed (always possible) you can call Club Royale and have the cruise repriced.  It may save you money and it may not....but it's worth a try.

Club Royale 888-561-2234.  If you are Prime, the number is 866-213-3116 (but if you're Prime, you already know that !!  LOL).
