M. Diaz
We are stopping at Costa Maya on our Oct 10-17 cruise. Our group will have two children under 12 who cannot be vaccinated yet. Since we cannot leave the terminal without a Royal Caribbean excursion, does anyone know if there is a beach area accessible without leaving the terminal? Thanks. Momof4crazytocruise
I don't about know about real beaches inside the port area, but when we had kids with us when we went to Costa Maya, we hung out a the little faux beach/pool, played volleyball, and watch the Mexican wrestling from the swim up bar. We also paid the extra for the Aviary exhibit , and aside from the 1 house with the crazy birds who landed all over you, the kids really enjoyed (not gonna lie, I did too!) The bridges take you over the Dolphins as well, and you can stop and watch from above - my kids really enjoyed that. Overall, there is plenty to do in the port area, and the kids were happily entertained.
Cleo76
I also am traveling with an unvaccinated child and I was under the impression that we could not leave the ship without an excursion. I could have misunderstood but we have RC excursions planned for all of our stops for that reason…would definitely be something worth confirming. Atricks
On the September 5th Odyssey crusise we did the Aviary/Port Pass excursion (only $10 each), same one mentioned above. You need an excursion ticket to get off the ship with the kids, but once off you go to the Port Pass covered meeting spot at the end of the pier (on the right) look for the "Port pass sign". Someone will escort you over to the aviary entrance, walk through it (look up in some of the rooms!) and the rope bridges above the pool and dolphin swim area are pretty neat as well. Once done with the Aviary walkthrough (which you can do at your own pace), you can pretty much go anywhere else in port, including the big swimming pool right next to the Aviary entrance. wordell1 and DJsMrs

stevendom57
Can I pay for the entrance to the aviary when at the port or do I have to buy a Port Pass in advance?
Rebbeca
@stevendom57 we had to purchase our pass in cruise planner and they're now sold out so would think you can't purchase when at the port. stevendom57
