Passenger Count

Does anyone know if RCCL adjusts the number of crew members needed for each sailing based on number of booked passengers?

They can't really.  Crew visas don't allow them to get off the ship and stay on land so crew onboard are onboard regardless how many guests there are one week to the next.

They are taking cabin attendants from closed sections and tasking them with cleaning duties elsewhere like constantly wiping down railings and cleaning tables in the WJ between guests.  So when a cabin attendant isn't being a cabin attendant when his or her section is closed they find other things for them to do.

Just spent 5 days on Anthem with 1699 other passengers, heaven 🙂

That's amazing! I'm sailing on Anthem in November. Can you please tell me what it was like up on the pool deck? The only other time I sailed on her it was packed so I never ended up hanging out there 😞
Was there enough chairs? Did it feel crowded up there?

As it was a UK cruise in October there were plenty of available loungers on the pool deck 😉, the inside pool and solarium were busier but we always found a couple of loungers. Nowhere on the ship felt crowded, not even We Will Rock You, though they did perform it twice.

@Vlad Yes, lots of people think just because they are vaxxed they don't need a test. I don't understand people who show up places without even the most basic bit of research.

That's how they handle most things in their lives and create problem for themselves and others unfortunately

From a reader that just emailed on on the current Symphony of the Seas sailing October 23: "2784 on board this week FYI Concierge said 3,400 were expected and 600ish didn’t show/canceled. Word from supervisor is full by June 2022."

Should we expect Windjammer dinner at 3400 since that's 50% of maximum? Shouldnt they have been planning for that then? Or are they really aiming for like 55% to account for no-shows

Was just on Symphony Oct 9-16 and it had 2281 passengers. I see it’s increasing each week. LOVED the lower capacity. So spoiled

Anthem of the Seas…first sailing in the US…from Port Liberty, Bayonne NJ. This is a six night cruise to Florida and the Bahamas. Due to the cruise being short one day (she just came across the pond from the UK) we will visit Port Canaveral and CocoCay.

We are sailing with 1740 passengers on a ship which usually holds 4800 double occupancy.

Interested to see what it is on my Feb 13th cruise on Liberty.  I know that is past the mandate so maybe it will be full capacity?  When I do a mock booking online there are only a few cabins available and the balconies are all sold out, so maybe they do this to get you to book a suite? Would love if anyone can chime in on that.  I am really hoping for a reduced capacity since I will have three kids using adventure ocean(and one in the nursery) and I want to make sure we can drop them off most nights so we can visit the casino 🙂

I believe if it was possible, the ships would be at full capacity now. The CSO really doesn't mandate capacity as Carnival has be sailing at 75% or higher since the restart. I think there are a lot of factors, such as protocols, testing requirements and demand. RCG set their own capacity restrictions and follows CDC guidelines. I don't think the vax mandate will be going away soon, so that is keeping capacity low as well.

As far as bookings....people have been booking suites and balconies because they like them or for the points. While some might have book them as a precaution to being stuck in their room if a quarantine happens. I personally don't see capacity getting to 100% until maybe the summer.
