I am hoping it means they will start accepting offers at that time. I have seen several people state that they have receive their Royal Up's around the 2 week mark here recently. For my sailing January 31st will be around 2 weeks before sailing.  Fingers Crossed!

I will keep my fingers crossed for you too!  So much fun to get an upgrade!

Hello i had a royal up email, i have interior room, is ir normal no junior suites are showing for bid?

The maximum is balcony ocean view.

Thanks

Yes.

The cabins you are offered to bid on depends on the original cabin you booked.

I’ve found that Junior Suites bidding opens up when we book a Balcony.

Thank You!  Yesterday after I posted that I went to check my bids and to my surprise it is now showing my bid for an owner suite as expired and the bid for grand suite is pending but I can no longer modify any of my bids.  We are still three and a half weeks till sailing but I'm cautiously optimistic that we might get the upgrade.

Mine are being weird.  I have bids on a Grand Loft, an Owner's Loft, and a Royal Loft.  Yesterday the Owner's and Royal Lofts showed "expired" and the Grand remained "pending".  Today the Owner's and Royal Loft show "pending" and the Grand Loft shows "Upgrade Unavailable".

Color me confused.

Our last cruise (November 30 on the Oasis), we had Grand Suite "Pending" and all others 'Expired."  The day before the cruise, the Grand Suite went to "Upgrade Unavailable."  So I am assuming someone bought it the day before the cruise.  Always before, when one is "Pending" and all others "Expired," we got the "Pending" one.

Crossing fingers for all those waiting! I'm on pins and needles myself, many on our sailing have received their RU confirmations. My offers are all pending and editable😔.  If it's a strategy it's working because I increased all my offers 😅

I enjoy the anticipation but will really be happy to be in the JS we booked. But I'm hoping!

I understand you're only charged for the 1st two people in the room for the Royal Up

Yep. Good to know

"Your bid is priced per person and based on two guests per stateroom for the entire length of your cruise. So you only get charged for the first and second guests."

Also interesting (though I guess not unexpected) is that I can upgrade to any suite class despite the suites for that cruise showing as sold out.

That's totally normal.  Just because they let you bid doesn't mean there are actually any rooms available.  Some will probably open up closer to sailing as people cancel due to positive covid tests or other reasons.

I originally had a balcony room on my upcoming sailing on Freedom on 1/31.  I was emailed an offer to bid on a Junior Suite or a Grand Suite.  I didn't bother with the Junior Suite, but put in a medium bid on the Grand Suite, and would have been happy whether I got it or not.  I was notified on 1/15 (16 days ahead of sailing) that my bid on the Grand Suite was accepted!  Whoohoo!!!  Never been in a suite before, so am looking forward to this!  I am keeping this a complete surprise for my wife.  She will be very surprised when we get to the room!

Congratulations on that, you will love it. But a warning, it’s tough to go back to a balcony. We got spoiled once in a owners suite due to some odd happenings on Grandeur of the seas maiden voyage. Since then, we have always been in a JS or above. To get to Diamond, we took a cheap trip on Allure in November in a balcony, hated the room and felt so small. Will be back in a aft JS in March on Odyssey and a GS on wonder in December. I don’t think I would of felt that way if I never got the taste of the suite life.

The finger crossing must have worked.  I received notice this morning that my bid was accepted.  Moving from an OV Balcony to a Grand suite on Oasis. We are still 23 days from sailing so very early it seems.

For those who are interested in things like this...

Sailing date: Jan 30, 2022

Royal Up email received: Dec 23, 2021

Successful bid email received: Jan 15, 2022

We booked a Neighborhood Balcony Guarantee and were assigned a Boardwalk Balcony on Deck 11, then we were successfully upgraded to an Ocean View Balcony (category 1D) on Deck 14, port side.

We bid $60 pp for a total of $120.  Minimum bid was $40 pp.

Thanks!  There were 2 Grand Loft suites still available as of 3 days ago, but they're gone now, so I assume that the upgrade is, truly, unavailable.  I like the room we have now (Owner's Suite), though, so we're good either way.  We'll just miss out on Star Class.

Apologies if this question has been asked and answered to death:

If a family of four bid for a Jr. Suite from a Balcony Stateroom, we pay for 2 people and the other 2 people move up with us for free?

As long as it was the 4 of you in that single balcony stateroom, yes. You always pay for 2 with the RoyalUp, whether you have 1 person in the room or 8!

Is it common for individuals on the same sailings to receive an update about winning RU at different times? Someone on my sailing said they win their bid on Jan 4. For a 2/11 sailing.

Yes. We found out a few days prior to sailing. It was an agonizing week of hearing others in our Roll Call group state they received their RoyalUp winning emails before ours finally came.

Did you bid on the JS as well? Im wondering if I should remove my JS bid to have a better chance at a higher suite.

@AshleyDillo what do you think is the reason for the difference in notification time? Could it be related to bids for a suite?

No clue. It was all for the same cabin category and we were stalking the available inventory and watching them disappear as we heard folks win their bids. Our other bids went to expired with one pending without the ability to modify so we assumed we would get it and it finally went through.

Just informed that our bid was accepted from a CLS to Ultimate Panoramic Suite 🙂  We've stayed in a CLS several times and are excited to try the UPS!  Although it doesn't have a balcony, it is Star Class and is just a few decks below the suite deck.  I put our bid in on January 15th, I had bid on several categories.  Early last week all bids were expired and this one was left pending.  Informed this morning of the upgrade.  Sail date is February 6th or 12 days from now.

Now I am nervously waiting for the crew to stay healthy along with my husband!  Everyone else is our immediate family had Covid over the last 6 weeks.  His last exposure was over 14 days ago, so fingers crossed he is ok!

Forgot to ask....our old Set Sail Pass had Sky class printed on it.  In the past I thought our Star Class said that too.  My current Set Sail Pass has our new cabin number, but no mention of Star Class.  It is dark purple in color though.  Is this something that will be added later?

We just got off Oasis, sailing out of Miami, on the 16th and sailed Star Class. Our Set Sail pass had Star Class on it but once we arrived at the terminal, there were two Ladies out side the terminal Checking in Star Class and taking your luggage. They checked you off on their clip board so I don't think it mattered whether our pass said it or not. From that point they checked our negative test, passport and vaccine card and had someone escort us to Suite area where we were met by our Genie and a RC agent who checked us in on her Ipad. Afterward we waited just briefly to board with our Genie. I'm not sure this protocol is the same at every port, as this was our first time to sail Star Class.

What happens if you put in multiple bids for multiple suite upgrades?

We currently have an ocean view balcony and when the time comes, would like to bid for an upgrade.  The higher the better, but we do not want to pay more than $1,000 total for an upgrade.

Should we bid for the next level up (Jr. Suite) AND one more higher than that?

My Grand Suite 1 bedroom as expired but my Junior Suite is still pending I have read that the perks are not as good as they used to be.

Were booked into a Ocean View Balcony and have bided £300 Dollars per person am thinking now is it actually worth it or should I cancel the bid.

Your help would be appreciated .Its my first time on Royal

  • 4 weeks later...

Got my Royal up email 10 days out put bids in for sky loft, owner’s suite, gs with large balcony, 2 bedroom gs, and gs…all still pending and able to be modified we sale today.  I am surprised none of them are expired but guessing we’ll be in our original Js with large balcony since we board in just a few hours.  I will update if we have any luck but short of someone failing their health check at an earlier check in time I am not expecting it.

May I ask what won you the bid? I’ve received our RoyalUp offer today and we’re in a balcony and I’m looking to bid of a Grande suite 1BR AND 2BR.
