question: kids under 12 unvaccinated

Recommended Posts

I heard unvaccinated guest will not have full access to the ship and/or restrictions when attending shows, dinner etc.  My family is vaccinated but traveling with a 10 year old.  Since she is not vaccinated will the rest of the family have restrictions placed on them or perhaps these restrictions rules don't apply to kids under 12?

Allure of the Seas this October, 7 days.

Yes, if the unvaccinated child is with them, they will be restricted.  If the unvaccinated child is not with them, there will be no restriction.

Your best bet for the most up to date information would be the Healthy Sail Center on Royal's site.

https://www.royalcaribbean.com/the-healthy-sail-center

If you have a good travel agent, then they should be able to help you navigate these ever changing waters.

Please note that information is subject to change at any time and while I appreciate (and help provide) the information on this board, the Healthy Sail Center is really the only definitive source.

UPDATE:  I spoke with RCL and kids will pretty much have run of ship.  For the ports we are going to our 10 year old will be able to go ashore providing we book excursions through RCL.  If we just want to get off and roam ourselves the kids club will be available.  I had heard that Cococay wasn't available to those under 12 but that's not true.  There are no restrictions on Cococay.  The ship restrictions for unvaccinated are mostly for adults, no bars, casino...etc.  We will have restrictions as to which evening dinning room we can be seated at.  They have 3 main dinning rooms on Allure so there really isn't an issue here.

Thanks for all the above responses.  Hope this helps someone else.  I thought I would have to cancel my Oct cruise so we could 'all enjoy' what Allure has to offer but now we look forward to getting back on the ship.  Chow!

you mentioned " The ship restrictions for unvaccinated are mostly for adults, no bars, casino.."
So you can still bring kids in those places if you are vaccinated ?

No.

I believe they meant it really only affects adults because children don't really need access to bars and casinos.

Hi, we have our cruise booked the beginning of November and I haven't found RCL representatives to be helpful at all with questions regarding what we can do off the ship once we dock at St Thomas and St Martin with our young children who cannot be vaccinated yet. You mentioned if you want to roam, the kids club is available. Did you take that to mean if we want to walk/site see the island without booking specific excursions through RCL, our kids can't come with us? - even just getting off the ship and heading to a beach? Thanks so much for your help!!

Yes. With unvaccinated children you cannot go ashore on your own, only with a ship based excursion. If you want to explore on your own, you can use Adventure Ocean on the ship for the children while you go ashore.

November is a long ways away in the world of covid protocols.

Things are changing quickly, so what is the rule today may be different tomorrow. Remember there are restrictions on board…and restrictions for cruise ship passengers at the ports the ship visits. Different countries have different rules…and they, too seem to be changing quickly and with little, or no, advance notice…depending on their infection rates and the capability of their health care to handle a sudden influx. Hopefully things eventually quiet down, the various variants are manageable, and temporary restrictions can be eased.
