Thanking my lucky STARS that cruising is back (a Symphony Star Class family blog)

Day 1 continued:

After dinner, we dropped the kids off at Adventure Ocean and Royal Babies and Tots.  We were very surprised to see that there were no other kids in Adventure Ocean and Royal Babies and Tots when we dropped the kids off.  They told us that they had others scheduled that should be there any minute, so the kids wanted to stay.

Steven and I decided to do our usual day 1 ship exploration.  It was a different feel than before walking around an almost empty pool deck and solarium, a completely empty suite deck, and several closed outdoor bars that used to stay open later.  The promenade was the busiest place we visited, but it was still the fewest people I've ever seen there.  I ordered a drink from bionic bar which is super gimicky but still a neat concept.  I decided to try something different and it was good, but I still prefer my mango lava flow and grabbed one when I eventually found the one pool deck bar that was open.  There was signage about not sitting at the bar, but it was not being enforced and multiple people sat at the bar sipping their drinks.  We also made a stop at Sugar Beach and got ice cream.  The staff members in Sugar Beach were very friendly and genuinely seemed happy to be there.

We picked up the kids when the nursery called and let us know that Kat was crying (she gets fussy when she gets tired).  Nyssa seemed to be having fun, but she was excited to see us.  Other than Kat and Nyssa, there was only one other child in Royal Babies and Tots.  We, then, picked up Christian and Sophia.  Christian and Sophia said they had fun but not nearly as much as they used too.  Sophia said it was too structured and they didn't have the freedom that they used to to do stuff they enjoyed.  While there were more kids than when we dropped them off, it was considerably less than we expected and way below the 15 kid limit.

Day 1 continued:

After picking up the kids from Adventure Ocean, we took them for ice cream at Sugar Beach.  They recognized us from earlier and laughed and joked with us and the kids.  They were just as nice as before and it was a very fun environment.

We headed back to our cabin to watch the aquatheater show.  I was expecting snacks to be delivered for the show since I mentioned it in the document that I sent to Sunil, but I guess I should have checked with him or reminded him because they were never delivered.  Part of me was glad because I had ate way too much food already.  We sat on the balcony and watched Hiro.  We had to get up and chase the little ones several times throughout the show, but the parts we saw were fantastic.  The cast is very talented, and it amazes me how they can make something that is incredibly difficult look easy.  The kids enjoyed pointing out the things that you can only see from the higher perspective such as the floor going up and down and seeing where the swimmers disappear to.

Temptation got the best of me, and I decided I was going to order room service.  We ordered a philly cheesesteak, hot dogs, hot wings, and a steak quesadilla.  Room service took about 30 to 40 minutes to arrive, and the food again arrived hot.  The hot dogs were the standard ship hot dogs (no complaints), Steven said the wings were better than Playmakers and he will definitely order them again, and the steak quesadilla was the best one I've ever had from a cruise ship's room service and I've ordered alot of room service haha.  It was crispy, cooked just right, and had just the right amount of steak and cheese.  As I type this, I'm literally having to stop myself from ordering one thinking about it.  The philly looked delicious but I was so stuffed by the time I got to it that I had to force myself to try a bite.  We sent Sunil our breakfast order for the morning and headed to bed.

Day 2: Breakfast

Our breakfast was delivered at 10am like we requested.  Again, it was hot.  That makes 3 for 3 for food being delivered hot to an aquatheater suite, which is honestly a first for us.  Perhaps this is one of the perks of sailing at reduced capacity or maybe the staff members here are just doing a great job with delivering the food expeditiously.  Either way, we are happy.  Again, they did not put out a tablecloth or set up the meal and while the food was good, some of the food was missing (we had ordered 3 plates of bacon and 2 plates of sausage and only received 1 plate that was half bacon and half sausage).  This was disappointing as that is probably the favorite part of breakfast for the kids and we had to split 4 sausages and around 10 slices of bacon between 6 people.  I let it slide, but the one thing I couldn't let slide was my Starbucks.  In the document I sent to Sunil, I specifically told him that we enjoy Starbucks very much and exactly what we like.  Again, I guess I should have clarified that I wanted it delivered every morning, but I never had to ask with Jay or Alan.  They saw it in the document and it was just an automatic thing.  I NEEDED my coffee and Sunil told me when we boarded to use whatsapp if it wasn't urgent and to call if it was urgent.  My coffee was urgent, so I called and told him I wanted Starbucks and I wanted it to be a standing order every morning with breakfast.  About 30 minutes later, our drinks were delivered by room service.  One thing, I am picking up on is I need to pretend like Sunil never read the document I sent him.  Everything we have asked for after getting onboard, he has made happen, but the document I sent has not really helped that much like it did with previous genie experiences.

How they set out our breakfast order (no presentation or even a tablecloth):

Day 2 continued:

After breakfast, we headed up to the flow rider to see if Christian was tall enough for boogie boarding, and he was.  We signed wavers and got our Star bracelets that allow priority use at zip line, flow rider, and the rock wall.  All of the staff were great, but Charlie in particular was very helpful and nice.  We were hoping to do zip line, but it wasn't open until 4pm-6pm which would not work since we have Hairspray and dinner scheduled at that time.  We will go back a different day when the times work out better.  The kids played mini golf for a little while and then we went to Challenger's Arcade which is much bigger and better than the arcade in Playmakers.

We were planning on taking the kids to Adventure Ocean and Royal Babies and Tots while we watched Hairspray, so we figured we'd grab Windjammer before since we didn't get to do our usual Day 1 dinner Windjammer reconisansse.  Upon entering, you scan your seapass card and tell them how many are in your party and then you do the same when leaving.  This allows them to track how many people are in the Windjammer so they don't go over the maximum amount of people under the new Covid restrictions.  This wasn't an issue when we were there and I didn't see anyone have to wait to get seated.  In fact, this was the easiest time I've ever had getting a seat big enough for our family at the Windjammer and that is even with them only seating people every other table.  After scanning your seapass, you wash your hands at the hand washing station.  As soon as you reach the first serving station, they hand you a plate and silverware and you can freely travel from food station to food station.  The only difference is they put the food on your plate for you.  I was determined to eat better today since I'm pretty sure my clothes don't fit after yesterday.  I had a Ceasar salad, lamb kabobs with tzatziki sauce, and cinnamon bread pudding with vanilla sauce (hey, I can only be so good).  All of it was great and the staff were all very friendly and helpful.  While I think they do great with everyone, I'm pretty sure they went a step above with us.  We overheard one staff member telling another that we were Star Class and the next thing you know we had like 5 people at our table trying to help and asking if we needed anything.  By far, the best service we have ever received at the Windjammer.

Challenger's Arcade:

Guessing one plate of bacon equals 4 slices and one plate of sausage equals two links. Next go around it might be best to specify quantity.

Of course room service logic is always questionable. Great example was asking Alan for blue cheese to be delivered along with some other items for an afternoon snack/light lunch. Delivered was a cup of blue cheese dressing.

Haha.  You do have to be very specific.  The first breakfast Steven asked for three eggs with onions, jalapeno, and a side of cheese (and literally only wanted three eggs).  What he got was three separate plates of eggs made with onions, jalapenos, and cheese mixed in plus a hashbrown on each plate.  On another cruise, we also had a friend ask their genie for guacamole, and they got just guacamole delivered with nothing to dip in it.  So @CGTLH is absolutely correct.  Always be very specific with your food order, and expect to get some variation of it.

Yup know what you mean, two poached eggs was processed as two orders of poached eggs. Other words, enjoy your four poached eggs.

Not only do you have to be specific, but you have to be completely thorough.  @Tiffeven's example of guac without chips is a perfect example.  You must ask for EVERYthing you want.  All condiments, drinks, sides etc.  They are very literal.  They will bring exactly what you ask for and nothing more.

Do you also plan on watching the aqua show from the seats or was watching it from the balcony enough?

If it were just Steven and me, we would probably watch it from both (atleast if we hadn't already seen the show in the past), but there is so much to do and the time goes by so fast that we only plan on watching it from the balcony on this trip.  This is especially the case when some of the shows are vaccinated only.  With them doing two sets of shows (vaccinated only and everyone shows), it seems like they aren't doing more show but rather dividing the shows in half and that really limits the shows we are able to see with the kids.  On Allure last year, we watched the Aquatheater show from our balcony and then went and saw it in the seats (atleast part of it), and we didn't really feel like we missed anything when we watched the show from our balcony.  It provides a different perspective, but no matter where you watch it, it really is great.

Day 2 continued:

We dropped the kids off at Adventure Ocean and headed to meet Sunil at the theater for Hairspray.  He had seats reserved for us on the third row as the whole first two rows were blocked off for social distancing (I assume to distance the cast from the audience).  There was no social distancing between people coming in and out of the theater, but all throughout the theater there were seats that had placards on them saying reserved for social distancing.  Hairspray was phenomenal.  We absolutely loved it way more than we expected.  There are shows that I can watch once and enjoy but be fine skipping if I sail on the same ship again, but we will definitely be watching Hairspray again when we are on Symphony in April 2022.

After Hairspray we had a few minutes before we picked up the kids, so we headed to Sorentos.  Between all the pizza I ate and the mango lava flow I had during the show, there went the idea of eating healthy.  Oh well, it was a nice thought.  Steven had the carnivore pizza and said it was really good.  I had the veggie pizza, and it was so good I'm not going to admit how many times I went back for more.

Day 1 continued:

After boarding, Sunil took us to our muster station, they scanned all of our sea passes, and we were done.  By far, easiest and quickest muster drill I've ever done.  Sunil, then, took us to our cabin where we got our room keys.  Sunil left and we went to ride the carousel and have lunch at Playmakers.  Unfortunately, it was kind of a let down.  The server was not attentive, acted as if we were putting him out, and made a snarky comment about how much food we ordered (had it been jokingly, I would have laughed along as we did have a lot of food but it came across as rude and like we were wasting his time).  At one point, a female server came up to us and asked if we needed anything and stopped and played with the little ones.  She genuinely seemed nice and I wish she would have been our waitress.  The food at Playmakers was just ok.  The kids had chicken tenders and fries, and they seemed to enjoy them.  Steven had Jamaican Jerk wings and Major (hottest) wings, and he said they were just ok.  He said they tasted like hot wings you would get at a pizza place.  I had the truffle burger, and I was not a fan.  It was so greasy that it fell apart when I picked it up and the taste wasn't great to me either.  I've had worse but I've definitely had better.  The Playmaker fries that came with it were on point though, and one of my two favorite things there.  The other being the Playmaker Sundae which did not disappoint.  We also had the onion ring tower (which tasted like typical onion rings),  buffalo crunch rolls (Steven said they were good not great but he'd eat them again), jalapeno poppers (we liked them but wish they had a little more cream cheese in them), and a campfire cookie (we were very full at this point but it tasted good from the little bit we had).

Day 2 continued:

We picked the kids up from Adventure Ocean and made a stop at Starbucks.  We had dinner reservations at Chops at 5:30pm, and when we arrived, we were seated instantly.  Sunil had arranged for the kids to have pepperoni pizza, macaroni and cheese, and French fries ready as soon as we got there.  This was something I had requested and Sunil made sure it happened.  Sunil had arranged for Jevish to be our server, and he did a fantastic job.  Soon after arriving, Sunil showed up and chatted with us and the kids a bit.  We all enjoyed his company and were happy to see him.  For dinner, I had beef carpaccio, wild mushroom soup, lobster bisque, broiled 1.5 lb Maine lobster, a filet mignon, warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, and red velvet cake.  I'm guessing it's pretty obvious why my clothes aren't fitting any more.  The food was as good as the service.  I loved every part of the meal with the exception of the warm chocolate cake.  It wasn't bad just not great like the rest of the food.  The warm chocolate cake is different from the one that we had last time we were on Allure.  I'm not sure if this is just a ship difference or if they changed the recipe, but the Allure one was much better.  Steven had beef carpaccio, Ceasar salad, grilled black pepper bacon, and a filet mignon.  He also really enjoyed his meal.  He liked the black pepper bacon so much that he ordered a second one for me to try.  The kids also enjoyed the cheesecake after finishing their meals.  Chops is still one of our favorite restaurants onboard and for good reason.  We also met the famous @Traveler as we were leaving Chops.

After dinner, Christian, Sophia, and Nyssa wanted to go back to Adventure Ocean but Kat opted to stay with us.  After we dropped off her older siblings, Kat wanted to make a Starbucks detour again.  She ran straight up to the sign and pointed at the strawberry acai refresher.  We have been to Starbucks so many times now that it would probably pay for this trip.  They know us by name and our drink order because we've been there so many times.  All of the Starbucks staff has been great, but Galih has become our favorite barista there as he always laughs and jokes with us.  We had planned on going to the casino, but since we had Kat, we needed to find something else to do.  She can't go swimming because she's still in pull-ups, we obviously couldn't go to the solarium, the Windjammer is closed in the evening, and the baby free time area is closed for the time being.  We decided we'd go to the suite deck, relax, and update the blog, but unfortunately,  the suite deck was closed because it was windy.  Since nothing was working out, we figured we'd go to the one place that we knew would be open and went to Sorrentos.  At this point, I have no idea how I was still eating, but if you put food in front of me, I can't resist.

We walked around a bit before picking the kids up.  Then after picking the kids up, we went back to Sorrentos.  I couldn't let the kids eat alone, so I may have had another slice or two.  We then went back to the room and called it a night.

A few other highlights and notes from the day was Sunil showed up to our cabin with a huge bag of candy for the kids (after making sure it was ok with us first).   The kids were very excited about this and this made their day.  We also received our laundry back that we had sent the day before.  The turn around time was less than 24 hours.  We also got our first towel animal.  When I asked about getting towel animals on day 1, the room attendant told us they only do them every other day.  Day 2 was a much better day than day 1.

Day 3:

After Steven got back from his morning run around the track, I figured I should hit the gym after all the food I have been eating.  The gym was very nice, and I plan on going back tomorrow.   While working out, you do not have to wear a mask.  After working out, I figured I would try a smoothie from Vitality Spa.  When I told the lady what smoothie Steven wanted, she said they didn't have that on this ship, so the menu can differ from ship to ship or maybe they re-did it during the shut-down.  Instead I told her that we wanted a berry banana smoothie and a strawberry banana smoothie and I got one of each parfait to try.  We were not a fan of anything we got there.  The smoothies from Vitality Spa are included with Star Class, but when she asked for my seapass, I gave it to her and she asked if I had the drink package.  I told her I was Star Class, and she looked confused.  I'm starting to notice several crew members who have no idea what Star Class is which is totally different than before.  I do believe most of the ones who don't know are new crew members on their first contract.

As I was walking down the hall to our room.  Sunil was actually walking down the hall away from our room since he stopped by and checked on us while I was at the gym.  He saw me with my hands full and rushed to help.  He told me I should have called and he could have had them delivered.  I told him it was fine that I was there already.  He said next time to call him even if I'm there and he will have someone deliver them for me or will personally get them himself.

Breakfast was waiting when I arrived back in my cabin.  To my surprise, the food was set out and there was a tablecloth this time.  I really am starting to wonder if someone at Royal is reading my blog haha.  Also, waiting for me was my Starbucks latte.  The food was hot again and very good.  I had asked Sunil for hummus and something to dip in it like celery or pitas.  I wasn't sure that this would come since neither celery nor pitas are on the breakfast menu, but I was happy to see hummus with celery and pitas.  Anything I have asked for since being on the ship, Sunil has made happen.  For anyone who is planning to sail Star Class, don't expect your genie to read your mind, if you want something ask for it.  The genies are great at picking up on what you like, but they only have a short time to get to know you and your likes and interests.  If there is something you want, ask for it and if they can, they usually will make it happen.

For anyone who is planning to sail Star Class, don't expect your genie to read your mind, if you want something ask for it.

This is the hardest thing for me and my brother to wrap our heads around. My mother has absolutely zero problems with it, though.

Our Genie said it makes their job so much easier when you are specific in asking for things.  You aren't being high maintenance or demanding at all when asking for what you want. If you don't ask you can't be upset that they didn't read your mind. And that makes sense to me now. I used to think they were there to orchestrate the entire experience, but we got a lot more out of it when we actually gave the Genie something to work with.

Love the family picture!

Thank you!

I think we had your waiter today at Playmaker , I can understand exactly what you were talking about.

We walked past Playmakers yesterday and saw him in passing, and he still seemed grumpy and unhappy to be there which is a totally different mood than most of the crew on the ship.

Day 3 continued:

After breakfast, Christian and I each rode the Flowrider once.  For Star Class, you get priority access and they rotate out three people in line, one Star Class, three people, one Star Class, etc.  It wasn't really worth using priority at the Flowrider since there was only four people in line, but still they knew we were Star Class and told us to sit on the bleachers and they'd call us in.  Since there was so few people, they ended up doing two people in line, Christian, one person, me, then the other people who were now in line.  When Steven and I did Flowrider on Allure, the floor was much harder.  On Symphony it felt almost padded and didn't hurt at all when wiping out.  When I finished my turn, they told us that we could sit back down on the bleachers, and they would keep rotating us in.  We thanked them but now it was Sophia, Kat, and Nyssa's turn to have fun, so we headed to Splashaway Bay.  Just like the Flowrider, it was not busy at all.  We were the only ones in the swim diaper area, but they had most of the water activities turned off here as they said the wind was blowing the water on the deck chairs.  Nyssa opted to go to the bigger kid area of Splashaway Bay since all of their water activities were still on.  She really wanted to ride the waterslides here, but she is below the 42 inch height requirement.  They do have a very small slide here, so she played on that instead.  Kat was happy sliding on the little slide in the swim diaper play area even without the water on.  As time went by, another toddler showed up to play in the swim diaper area, and the bigger kid section started to get busier than before.  Christian and Sophia didn't want to wait in line for the slides in Splashaway Bay anymore after a few slides, so we headed to the pool.

We stopped and got a drink on the way, and I tried the Goombay Smash, which was pretty good, but I wish I would have got my mango lava flow instead.  There was a five person limit in the pool, so I almost wondered if we would even be able to get in, but we got there and there was only two people in the pool.  About this time, the Captain came on to announce that we were approaching a storm, so those two people got out.  We figured, we'd swim for a few minutes before the weather got bad.  Christian got in and had the entire pool to himself.  Kat and I watched from the side, and Steven, Nyssa, and Sophia went in search of life jackets.  As soon as Steven, Nyssa, and Sophia were ready to get in, it started raining really hard, thundering, and lightning, and everyone on the pool deck scattered.

How has getting spots at Adventure Ocean been for you so far? Did you book all of your hours the first day when you signed up? Did you use all of your hours the first few days and will add more later? I have no clue how to know what times we want so just curious how you decided.

Sunil booked our hours before we got on the ship.  They are only allowing 15 kids in Adventure Ocean and 4 in Royal Babies and Tots at a time on Symphony.  I thought this would be an issue, but I've yet to see all the slots full.  The most kids I've seen at a time in Adventure Ocean was 12, and that was including our two.  Most of the time there have been fewer than 10 kids at a time.  To be on the safe side, I would recommend booking hours as soon as you board.  We haven't had any issues getting hours at all, but if Adventure Ocean was full it would be a different story.  Each sailing is going to differ with how many kids are on board and how much people utilize Adventure Ocean so I would always try to book the prime hours like showtimes as soon as possible.

Day 3 continued:

After picking up the kids, we made another Starbucks stop and the kids were hungry, so we called Sunil and asked him if we could go on and head to Hooked Seafood.  Our reservation was at 5:30pm and it was 5pm.  We didn't realize that it didn't open until 5:30pm, but Sunil still called the restaurant and they got us in early.  This definitely made us feel "Star Classy."  When we arrived all of the staff were absolutely wonderful and friendly.  Sunil had arranged for Osden to be our server and he did a great job.  While checking in on us, Sunil said he always tells the restaurant manager who he wants serving us, and so far, everybody he has picked has been phenomenal.  As I said earlier in the blog, we weren't even planning on eating Hooked initially for dinner, but I'm so glad we did.  The food was way better than we expected, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes seafood.  Despite our last minute plan to go early, the waiter still brought out pizza, macaroni and cheese, and fries to occupy the kids as soon as we arrived.  Sunil has done a great job making sure this is arranged at every restaurant.

Osden told us not to worry about appetizers that he was bringing us one of each to try.  I tried the Maryland Crab Cake, and it was delicious.  I got Sophia to try a bite, and she ended up ordering one of her own after trying a bite.  I also got the clam and crab chowder, and it was pretty good but I'd probably skip it and get two crab cakes next time instead or opt for something different.  For my main course, I had the whole Maine lobster, which was a lobster tail that was stuffed with crab and topped with Gruyere cheese and then baked.  It was very tasty, and I will order it again next time I go to Hooked.  Steven does not like seafood, which is one reason we had planned on skipping Hooked for dinner but even he enjoyed it and wants to go back next time we are on a ship with Hooked (it's on Symphony and Navigator only).  For his meal, he had the fresh hand-tossed salad with grilled chicken and a messy fish sandwich without cole slaw, so in other words a fish sandwich (but it still came with the bib).  We shared a coconut cream pie and the kids had chocolate decadence brownies.  We were very full by the time we got dessert and only planned on having a bite of it, but like the rest of the meal it was so good that despite being full we made extra room and finished it too.

Day 3 continued:

We had plans to go ice skating, but with the inclement weather they switched the days of the ice skating show and the aquatheater show.  Since the ice skating show was now going to be on Day 3, open ice skating was moved to day 4.  The ice skating show was at 8pm for vaccinated only and then 10pm for everyone.  This made 0 sense to me why you would have the only show that kids could attend so late, but I don't make the rules.  We took the kids to play on the lucky climber, to ride the carousel, and to play on the piano stairs.  At this point, Christian and Sophia told us they wanted to go to Adventure Ocean instead of with us to watch 1977 (ice skating show).  We dropped them off at Adventure Ocean, and Steven, Kat, Nyssa, and I all headed to Studio B for the show.  Sunil was there waiting for us with reserved banners on our seats.  Again, the first open row was the third row to allow social distancing between the cast and audience.  We asked Sunil for a blanket for Kat and Nyssa, and he headed off to get one.  About 10 minutes later, some people showed up and tried to join their party who were also sitting in the third row.  This was a party of people that was so large they would have taken the entire row.  The ones that showed up five minutes before the show went and told one of the crew members that she wanted to sit with her party.  The next thing we know that crew member came up to us and told us she might need our seats.  Steven and I looked at her like she was crazy and told her no that our genie saved us these seats.  She looked confused and walked off.  I'm guessing it was another crew member not knowing what Star Class is, but Sunil was flabbergasted when he returned with the blankets and we told him what happened.  My guess is he will be educating them in what Star Class is.  We really appreciated the blankets as Nyssa and Kat fell asleep within 10 minutes.

The ice skating show was great.  The cast did an amazing job and we really liked the music that was used in the show.  After it ended, we picked up the kids from Adventure Ocean and called it a night.

I’m really surprised that the crew member would think it was ok to tell anyone that they needed to move - star class or not.  If that passenger wanted to sit with her party so badly, she should have gotten there when they did, or the whole party should move to where there is enough seats to accommodate them all.  Looks like there was plenty of room in the back. I hope Sunil educates her.

Day 4:

Today was the first port stop (St. Maarten), and Steven and I intended to go to Maho Beach.  Steven did his morning run around the track, and then I went to the gym where I noticed some of the crew were doing safety drills in the gym.

After the gym, I headed back to the cabin for breakfast.  Again, they had set it up with a tablecloth.  I went with a healthier breakfast this morning and was enjoying my hummus and celery and fruit, when it started raining and the wind picked up.  The next thing you know our plates started flying off the table.  We gathered up everything as quickly as we could and brought it inside.  With the weather as bad as it was, we ruled out Maho Beach.  We called Sunil and asked for recommendations of things to do on the ship with the kids since the weather was so bad.  The only thing open that would interest them was Adventure Ocean and they were asking to go, so we got ready to leave.  Before we could leave, Sunil showed up to the room with a ship-wide scavenger hunt to entertain the kids.  They were already set on Adventure Ocean, so we headed there, but we plan on doing the scavenger hunt if we have time.  By the time we dropped them off, it had stopped raining so we decided to head to Maho Beach after all.  We got to the taxi, and the guy talked us out of going.  He said it was slower than usual and he recommended going a different day.  We were ok with this since we go back in November.  Later, we found out the real reason was most of the taxi drivers didn't want to go to Maho after the bad weather because they didn't want to get stuck.

We took a taxi from port to downtown.   We made the mistake of asking to go somewhere downtown that was where the locals shop and eat.  Next time, we'll stick to the touristy area, as what we saw was not what we expected from an island paradise.  Then, we got lost and wandered around until we eventually found the touristy area.  We did a little shopping, stopped for ice cream and ham croque monsieur, and then visited the yoda guy museum.  The price for the museum is $15 per person.  If you buy something or go through the museum he will take a picture with you otherwise you are out of lucky.  We decided we'd walk back to the ship instead of taking a taxi.  It was longer than it looked but not too bad, and we passed a cheese shop on the way, so we stopped and got some goat cheese for Sunil.  I asked on the Star Class facebook page before the trip for gift recommendations for Sunil, and someone mentioned that he liked goat cheese.  Turns out they were right.  He was super excited when we gave it to him.  He has been great, and we were very happy to get something for him as much as he has done to make our trip special.

Getting back on board was a breeze, there wasn't any crowds and you have to quickly pull down your mask when they scan your seapass card when getting back on the ship, so they can match the picture they have of you with your face.  While in St. Maartin, you have to wear a mask when entering stores or using public transportation but not outside.

I agree.  Even if we weren't Star Class, I would be offended if someone asked me to give up my seats for someone who barely made it to the show in time.  The people in the front rows are either ones who paid for the perk (Star Class or suites), earned it through being a loyal member (like Pinnacles getting to arrive at the theater earlier than most guests), or those who got to the theater early enough to get a good seat and then waited for the show.  Like you said, there was plenty of other empty seats, but some people just have some nerve.

Came here to write the same. It's a very entitled thing to make other people move at their discomfort to make your own comfort.

Star Class isn't new either so not sure why staff isn't aware.

I guess with all the new contracts they haven't had time to train them on SC. But also it really grinds my gears when entitled people expect others to honor their request. This is not the first blog I have read where people have disregarded the rules for shows. Also yeah most of those island are mad sketchy and the locals live like paupers.

Day 4 continued:

After getting back on the ship, we went to dinner at Jaime's Italian.  The service was great, but we were not fans of the food.  Giovannis on Allure was much better.  Sunil had arranged for Boodhoo to be our server, and he did a great job.  For my meal, I had the crispy squid, black truffle arancini, lamb chops scottaditto, and the classic tiramisu.  Steven had the posh fries and the baked lasagna.  We also shared the ultimate garlic bread, the funky fries, crispy polenta chips, and their famous meat plank.  The one part of the meal that I really enjoyed was the crispy squid.  I could have ate another plate of it as good as it was.  The rest of the food just wasn't our cup of tea, but I've heard other people say they enjoyed it, so don't let our review stop anyone from trying it as everyone's tastes are different.

After dinner, we met Sunil at Studio B for our ice skating session.  Sessions were 20 minutes long, and I'm not sure what the limit was but when we were skating, there was the 6 of us plus around 6 to 8 other people.  When ice skating, you have to wear a helmet, and they do have knee and elbow pads available but they are not required.  This was the kid's first time ice skating, and we spent the entire time helping the babies, so we had Sunil schedule us again for 8:30pm.  Sophia wanted to go to Adventure Ocean, so when we went back, it was just Steven, Christian, and me.  This time there was probably less than 10 people including us total.  On the way to Studio B, we noticed the new Pinnacle Club Lounge, and for those who are wondering, it is at Jazz on 4 (from 5pm-8pm) which is near the Diamond Club.

When we returned to the room, we decided we'd order room service.  We ordered steak quesadillas, hot chicken wings, and cheesecake.  Again, it was delicious.  In fact, this steak quesadilla may have even been better than the one the other day and I thought that one was great.

Day 5:

Usually I message Sunil exactly what we want delivered for breakfast the next morning, but last night I told him the same thing as yesterday morning.  Of course, it was not exactly the same thing.  Steven didn't get his jalapenos in his eggs or his hot sauce on the side and I didn't get my celery (I dip it in hummus).  There was also a few other slight inconsistencies in the meal, but it was still good.  I think I will just stick to listing out our breakfast order each morning instead as that seems to work better.

After breakfast, we dropped off the kids at Adventure Ocean and Royal Babies and Tots and headed into port.  St. Thomas was already much prettier than St. Maarten, and we were excited to get off the ship and explore.  We had three hours of Adventure Ocean scheduled, so we were limited on what we could do in port.  We still were undecided on Skyride to Paradise Point or Mountain Top, but the first person we saw selling excursions was a man selling Island Tours that including Mountain Top that was about two hours long, so we figured it was meant to be.  It was $25 per person, and it was informative and allowed us to see some pretty views of the island.  The last stop was Mountain Top.  We were only there for a short time, and between the view and the gift shop, I wish we could have spent more time there but it worked out since we were limited on time anyway.  After the tour, we headed back on the ship and getting back on board was a breeze with no lines which we appreciated since it had just started raining really hard.

While in St. Thomas, you are required to wear a mask even outside whether you are vaccinated or not.  I saw people getting told to pull up their masks multiple times.  They didn't say anything if you took it off for a quick picture, but anything longer than that, they would.  Overall, we really liked what we saw of St. Thomas, but there was a lot we didn't get to, so we look forward to coming back.

Day 5 continued:

As I've mentioned before, we are calling this cruise a birthday cruise for the family.  It really isn't any of our birthdays, but the kids have all had birthday cruises canceled because of the shut-down and they have been upset about that, so we told them when we eventually get to cruise again, we'd have a birthday celebration cruise.  When we got back onboard, Sunil had left us a surprise.
