My husband was lucky enough to "win" the "free" cruise. Granted this isn't the itinerary or ship we would like, but for the price it will be just fine  (especially after this past year)?

When we called to book the cruise we asked about cabin upgrades. If we kept the inside cabin, we would have only paid about $98 (tax and port fees). We decided to upgrade to a balcony cabin and only paid $469!

On our cruise last January, I had enough saved up to get a $50 on board credit (I think my husband did too and we were able to combine to get $100 OBC). I tried to get the $100 OBC for this cruise and unfortunately you can only redeem one benefit/person/booking.

I have been trying to find out, when you redeem the rewards for the free sailings, are they only for one person? Does the second guest in the room (since everything is booked for double occupancy) have to pay a full cruise fare for themselves or does it cover both people? Do you each only have to pay the port taxes and fees? Does gratuity still need to be factored as well or is that covered in your cruise fare? I am always on the lookout for these rewards, but they go so quickly, and I'm afraid to redeem my points without knowing all the details since it says they are non-refundable. Any information is appreciated.

"Free" cruise is for two (2) passengers based upon standard double occupancy in an interior stateroom.  Both passengers pay port taxes, fees and the additional daily gratuity.  Good luck.

Unbelievable how the MyVegas points have devalued. 3-5 night cruises we're going for 600,000 points. Now going for 2.5 million. Crazy.

Also, I won a cruise and was able to sail solo and only pay taxes/fees for myself. That was a nice surprise.

In the Android app, I see three night cruises for one million, four nights for two million, and five nights for two point five million.

I’ve been letting the app run during breakfast for about a month. So far I’ve accumulated 150,000 loyalty points. So if the reward prices don’t change, I can have a free five night cruise in less than a year and a half with minimal effort on my part. Seems like quite a deal.

It’s too bad none of the reward cruises leave from Galveston.

How do i find out the very basics about this program?  Probably specifically game play to achieve points.   i played last night and didn't understand what was going on.   i used to play an MGM program called Wager works so i understand the concept but didn't know when I was getting points with any value.    It's very busy with bonus games and locations.

The basics of the myvegas apps as far as I understand them are you get points for playing the slot games in the app. Doesn't matter what game, doesn't matter if you win the turn or not, doesn't seem to matter how much you bet, just how long you play. Which is why many people just turn the game, set it to auto and let it run. Eventually, you do hit a daily cap of how many points you can earn so it's really only worth it to let the game run non-stop for an hour or two then go about your day.

These free-to-earn points can then be used to redeem OBC, cruises, land-based vacation discounts etc.

The gold coin (loyalty point) accumulation varies based on what device you're playing. I think all but 1 of the android games accumulate points by just having the app open. The apple versions require you to play the game to earn gold coins. Max coins per game per day is 4000 for most of the games.

The RCCL cruise rewards go within a day, so you have to be checking daily to snag one and they don't come up often. The OBC and wildcard discounts are replenished daily, so much easier to get.

Check out this reddit post comment that lays everything out nicely.

Do you have to redeem and have it applied within a certain amount of time before your sailing? I tried on my last cruise and my TA told me that she couldn't apply it but forget the reason why.  Or can I call Royal and do it myself for sailings coming up?

The OBC and free play rewards must be redeemed within 30 days of booking the cruise. Also, the reward can only be applied to a cruise that departs within one year from the redemption date. So there are some time restrictions.

Thank you.  Is there a way to call Royal myself or should I just ask my TA to apply it?

There are instructions in the myVEGAS reward email that you receive to process the reward through Casino Royale by email or phone.  Word of caution though, if you have a group rate cruise discount through your TA, then it’s ineligible for these rewards.  Good luck with it.

If you have a TA they should  be able to do it for you. Just send over the redemption screen once you "purchase" it within the app. All the instructions are on that screen so it would, at bare minimum, be a matter of them just following those instructions.

But I say should because it seems to really depend on the TA. I have one of the tons of perks/low proactivity TAs (hey...I like perks) and when I tried to get her to do it, she claimed that Royal was going to reprice my whole cruise to apply it and that would have lost me all my deals and been more expensive. I ended up calling the number on the redemption instructions myself and had Royal apply it directly. It was there within an hour.

We used the OBC offer on our last two cruises (one on my account, one on my husbands).

We had our TA book the cruise, then a few days later I went in and bought the OBC reward, followed the instructions on the email and emailed Casino Royale with the requested info. The $$ was in our cruise planner in about 5 days and we used it happily to book specialty dining 🙂

I will give it a shot.  If it doesn't work then its fine.  I know I have some on bard credit with booking with her, but never hurts to have more 🙂

If you see a reward sold out, there is a daily refresh schedule. Just check around that time. I’ve seen the cruises become available after being sold out.

https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?threads/daily-myvegas-refresh-times.193384/

New rewards can come at anytime but existing rewards will refresh with the schedule. I’ve been on two free cruises this year. The last one was a 5 day Cabo one that cost 2.5 million points!

Thankful to have found this forum last night!

I selected the $100 OBC for my cruise in November last night, then forwarded the email to Club Royale and just got an email from them that it's been applied to my account. Booked my sailing through a TA, but Club Royale applied it without issue. Was told I can request a new booking invoice from my TA to see the credit applied, but it's showing right in my Cruise Planner so I know it's in there.

I've had a MyVegas acount for a while now (maybe close to 10 years) that I opened to get rewards for Vegas - but never found better deals to use there than I got through MGM rewards for barely playing in the casino during any Vegas trips. But being able to use MyVegas rewards with RC changes the game for me. Easily got some extra trip spending money for very little effort.

The OBC rules implies that the cruise has to have been booked through the Casino.   But I think the actual experience is that it is being redeemed through the Casino Royale.   Is that true?

Also, I noticed the casino credit was a higher redemption cost than OBC.  And the casino credit seemed to be sold out. Why would anyone pick casino credit over OBC?   I must be missing some thing.

The OBC rules (like the rules for all RC redemptions I noticed) are less than clear for the terms. It seems like their attempt to be succinct only muddies the reading by those redeeming the reward (not much better on the various other ones besides RC rewards either).

I think (judging solely from my limited experience so far) that the redemption has to take place through Casino Royale no matter what the reward is. If it's a full cruise booking reward (or the percentage off) it needs to be completely booked through the Casino (and then likely can be transferred to a preferred TA from previous comments). But for an add on like the OBC (and maybe the Free Play) if there's a booking that meets the criteria the Casino will apply the add-on to the booking.

Like  @Kurtp13 I cannot see why someone would pick the Free Play over the OBC, but I suppose some do for their own reasons which is why it's offered. I could see if it was the only available when others like OBC sold out, but definitely seemed to be the opposite right now. Maybe those who would choose the Free Play are focused just on the casino where I look at the OBC as an option to add something during the cruise I might not want to pay for directly myself but would "splurge" with an OBC option.

What are the Red tickets?    I have accumulated some but I don't know what they are for.   I see them in the game currently running Konami Slots

The red tickets are for the "bonus" pull machines which I think reward guaranteed XP/chips. Just another and different form of game "currency" but restricted to certain locations to use it.

With the most recent changes, the $100 OBC is 50,000 points, and the $100 Freeplay is 100,000 points, so that is a no-brainer to take the OBC IF available (especially since you should be able to use the OBC in the casino).  However, they also have $150 Freeplay for 200,000 points, and no offer for $150 OBC.  Since I just booked a cruise and plan on playing in the casino, I opted for the $150 Freeplay.  Although the "price" is high, it still doesn't make much of a dent in my 14,400,000 balance!
