Rosylo
Can I use the cell phone while the ship is in port? As soon as we get to a "covered" port? Or as long as you are on board it's out of range of your cell range? Thanks!
monorailmedic
You should be able to use your mobile phone on a terrestrial network once the ship is within 1-3 miles of a port. Once in range, they shut off the ship's cellular network so that you stop connecting to it. Keep in mind that while below deck coverage may be limited. Also be sure your familiar with your carrier/plan's roaming policies and costs, as it can range from included, to ridiculously high metered rates. WHStoneman
You can use your phone anywhere....but it will depend on how much you want to pay for that convenience. Could be pricy....I have heard of folks having a $1500 bill when getting back home. I know you can use your Verizon phone at no additional cost in San Juan since it is a US property. We stayed there for a week and it was regular calling and texting. Check with YOUR SERVICE PROVIDER before you leave home and tell them where you will be traveling.
