? for all Baltimore peeps

Totally not a cruise question but -

Just booked a quick trip to Baltimore end of September for my birthday to watch the Red Sox in my favorite park, Camden Yards.  We are flying in and staying at the Sheraton on S. Charles.  It looks pretty close to both the harbor and the ballpark, is it?  Is the area walkable?  Don’t want to deal with a car so ability to walk everywhere is important and we love to walk.  Also looking at suggestions to get from & to the airport.  Is there a shuttle of some kind?  Short trip so only a couple of carry ons to schlep.

I know this is OT but I’d appreciate any insight or advice.  Thanks!!

Yes, it's literally between Camden Yards and the Inner Harbor area.  Very easy to access both with "foot power".  If you're flying in, it's probably a good 15 to 20 minutes from the airport (non-rush-hour).  If you pull up a map, it's at the intersection of S. Charles & Conway Streets.

Can you give me a little point of reference for the light rail?  I assume finding it at the airport will be relatively easy but where would it drop us off?  Would it be walkable to the hotel?

The light rail is right against Camden Yards on the east side of the stadium.

Thank you both so much.  Information is just what I was looking for.  I think the light rail looks perfect.  Appreciate your help.  Best suggestions for activities?

The entire Inner Harbor area is excellent for strolling and people watching.  You might want to see who's playing at the Pier 6 Concert Pavilion.... last time we were downtown, we saw Boston.

You're close to Federal Hill, lots of good bars/restaurants there.

Baltimore Aquarium is really good, though really expensive if you can't find a discount code.

There's the B&O Railroad Museum and Geppi's Entertainment Museum both nearby if you're into those kind of things.

Oh and "Maryland style" crabcakes are very overrated. Mustard does not belong in a crabcake

Last time we went (long time ago) the stands were pretty empty.  Bought mid priced tickets & by the third inning, moved down to field level.  Planning on buying the cheap seats this time & again moving around as we are able.

this is a midweek series so maybe a better chance

As far as getting TO the airport post-cruise, reservations can be made with SuperShuttle.

They are currently priced at $31 for transport from Cruise Maryland Terminal to BWI. (Up to 4 passengers, 6 bags)

Thank you but we are not cruising.  Flying in for a few days for some baseball & sightseeing.  I believe the light rail suggestion with suit us nicely.

My favorite thing to do besides strolling along the Inner Harbor is take a short walk to "Little Italy".  It's a neighborhood with lots of Italian restaurants and markets.  There is a small market that sells the BEST Italian pastries and fresh deli sandwiches!  Also gelato...  Oh, and we walked to the Horseshoe Casino which is about a mile from the harbor.

Not when you know where to go..... I'm not a fan of the overly commercialized places like Phillips, it's the more traditional, smaller, "mom & pop" operations that have insanely good crabcakes.old bay japan GIF

Sadly Phillips is but a shell of it's former self but the Mrs Phillip's crab cake recipe with Jumbo Lump makes for a good homemade cake.

@coneyraven Is it true that Old Bay is used as an ice cream topping in Maryland? ?

I've tried it.....not bad.  It's also good on Corn on the Cob, Macaroni & Cheese, Chicken Wings, any type of Mixed Vegetables, in Beer, Potato Chips, Popcorn, French Fries, Stir Fry, just to name a few things.....oh, and on Cicada's since they're in season.

Personally, some of the best crabcakes I've had recently came from a place known as Shannon's Pub .... it's on Route 40 (Baltimore National Pike) just west of Rt. 29 in Ellicott City.

They've made beer with Old Bay, which actually turned out pretty good. The original recipe was based off a light ale, now it's a gose which I have not had yet.

Thank you all for your help.  Just got back mostly good, a few misses.  Light rail from BWI was perfect 90 cents each, hotel 2 blocks from the station (and the ballpark every night).  Sheraton Inner Harbor perfect location 12th floor corner view of the harbor.    Unfortunately not much running during the week.  I mean the visitors center was closed!! so lots of walking. Ok LOTS of walking - like 30 miles in 3 1/2 days.  Loved Fells Point, ate at Amicci’s in Little Italy twice it was so good!
