Odyssey Of The Seas - Chris Wong

Recommended Posts

With all the comments, do you really think he'll read them and change his ways? Don't think so. He seems like a nice guy but lacks the skills needed to be a content creator. Needs to be a two way street not a one way street and all about him. Hoping I'm wrong and he'll blast me for my posts which will mean he actually read our comments and cares enough to reply.

Don't think @Mattwould post on another board that he's live on YouTube this Monday come watch him. If he did I'm sure he'd answer questions or give advice, again don't think Matt would even do that.

Just to be clear I don't hate or have any issues with @CHRIS WONGjust wish he would answer people's questions and show some love to the community that @Mattbuilt. Yes that's me riding in on my white stallion to defend @Matt's honor because he's too nice to tell Chris "hey buddy contribute and show some love or leave!" Hi-O SILVER!!! Charge!!!

As I get off my soap box now and sheepishly leave...

I just wanted to make a quick post regarding comments/messages. As a Royal Caribbean crew member, I have strict rules to follow when it comes to social media. There are certain things I can and cannot talk about. This is why I don't respond to 95% of my comments, just in case I say something I'm not supposed to. I could potentially jeopardise my employment with the company by slipping up.

I hope this makes sense. Please know that I read all of your comments and messages. Thank you for continuing to support me, and engaging with my content.

@CHRIS WONGthe only 2 questions I asked and never got a reply to are:

1) are you quarantine for another 2 weeks?

2) are you a casino host this cruise?

Didn't realize that the social media restrictions didn't allow you to answer these questions? But you standing under the host sign for one of your YouTube videos answered my question. Just seems you made the statement so not have to contribute to THIS community. While your video may have information people may find informative your silence on the board in regards to answering general questions speaks volumes.

Hmm....

I think he's a super cautious person. He didn't even want to post a room tour until he got the okay (despite other crew on the same ship posting about other areas) so I think maybe, to him, silence is safer than anything else.

Which, being a super cautious person myself in certain things...i guess I can understand that. More than once, I didn't even want to post about having a hard day at work because I was worried it might look bad for the company and I could be targeted for trashing them or something.

Better safe than sorry I guess.

What do you think about the Solo Balcony Room I stayed in during my quarantine period?

Before quarantine, I didn't even know there were different types of balcony staterooms.

@CHRIS WONGI am staying in this exact same room when I board Odyssey in November. It's a great room perfect for 1 person! Looking forward to meeting you! I think you'll be in the casino so I will look for you there. Big fan!

Welcome to Royal Caribbean's brand new Odyssey Of The Seas. I can finally reveal to you this brand new Quantum Ultra Class cruise ship.

Today, passengers will be stepping onboard for the first time! After 16 months since the global cruise suspension, I can finally say "WE ARE BACK"

What does the crew think of the new protocols? I feel for the crew that have to man the coffee, soda and ice cream stations

All crew, including myself, have taken on extra side-duties to align with the new health and safety protocols. We were prepared for this before accepting the contract. At the end of the day, we are happy yo be back at work.

  • Are any items in the shops on Odyssey super discounted (like stuff on Adventure was)?
  • What's the best part on being crew on a new ship?
  • Did you find any cool hidden areas/gems on the ship?
    • Follow up - how did I get to the cat? Lol

At this moment, crew are not really free to roam around the ship, in order to maintain social distancing and limited capacity in venues. I have not had a chance to visit the shops.

Best part of being on a new ship is knowing that my crew cabin is brand new, and nobody prior has lived in there before.

The best hidden spot on the ship is a small outdoor area next to the Solarium. Great view of the ocean and the side of the ship. The cat is on deck 15 next to the climbing wall.

OK, let's try this. Ask me anything, and will respond to all questions over the next 24 hours.

Chris, I have a casino related question for you!

We are sailing on a B2B2B on the Odyssey starting 8/22/21 and are Prime in Club Royal.  Are you able to share what the min-max current limits are on Ultimate Holdem and Blackjack?  Are you still able to hold Slot & Blackjack tournaments with the social distancing requirements?

Thanks in advance!

Jess

Yes, we still have tournaments onboard Odyssey. There is no social distancing in the casino as it is a vaccinated area.

How long are the crew contracts right now? Are the contracts any shorter/longer or is the ship less staffed because of the lower passenger capacities?

(BTW, really looking forward to our Odyssey sailing on January 29th!)

Right now, we have signed our standard 6 months and 3 week contract - but we have been told our assignments could change as the pandemic is still changing things on a daily basis.

Hi Chris,

I signed up for the LEARN TO PLAY: CASINO TABLE GAMES that costs $25.  I will put my limited skills to the test with $25 in FreePlay.  How is this considered FreePlay when I paid $25 to learn to play???

I'm the type of gambler who quits if I ever get ahead by a few dollars.  Otherwise, I just plan on losing a certain amount of money and I try to see how long I can make it last.  Sometimes $25 doesn't take long to lose so I was wondering if my lesson stops when I lose my $25 of FreePlay???

Will you still be on Odyssey In late January --- early February??   I would gladly share with you one of my two complimentary drinks that come with the lesson.

I really enjoy your videos and will say hello if you are still on Odyssey the last week in January.  You are doing great work and I especially like how you announce that the casino is open on one of your videos.

They're charging for the lessons now ??  YIKES !

For purchase on the cruise planner.  Should I cancel it and ask for a free lesson??  I'm not sure if the $25 is for the two complimentary drinks or the lesson or the FreePlay.  I just hope all the free stuff entertains me for at least an hour.

Chris, I saw this in a Facebook group. Would this be helpful for Royal crew?

From another cruise page:

Spread the word!!!
We are on the MG now. If you are getting on a ship in the next couple of weeks here is a suggestion. The crew can’t get off. If you get your room Stewart and waiters something. Get them toiletries. Toothpaste, deodorant and such. They apparently have them on ship for crew but they are expensive. If possible pass onto your cruise Facebook pages.

It's true that right now there is no shore leave for crew, but it's not that expensive for toiletries from the crew shop. Even when we normally go to the grocery store, we would have to pay for taxis/ubers regardless - so the cost is the same really.

Hello Jess,

Not to hijack this great thread but I thought I could answer your question.  I just got off the Odyssey yesterday and the limits for Ultimate Holdem were mostly $5 during the day and $10 in the evenings.  Strangely, Blackjack was just the opposite most days the lowest was $15 and in the evenings you could find a $10 table.

Now back to the questions for Chris...

This promotion is part of your pre-cruise planner. You will receive $25 of free play after your lesson.

Currently, it seems like I will be onboard until the beginning of January.
