Teppanyaki on Odyssey of the Seas

Recommended Posts

I am excited that Royal has finally brought this fun style of dining to their ship! It was one of the things we liked about Norwegian but since we've become more Loyal to Royal, happy to see this available on this ship and hopefully others in the future. Anyone else a fan?

I logged into my Cruise planner for one of the first Odyssey sailings and I don't see it listed yet as a dining option, hmm... odd? I am able to book everything else though such as shore excursions, other dining options and internet.

Not judging anyone and I enjoy teppanyaki as much as anyone, but I don’t think I would do it on a cruise.  I thinks it’s because I don’t want to “pay extra” for meals since I’ve already paid for “food on the ship”.  We do get the Refreshment Drink Package, since we do enjoy the froze “mocktails” and if the price is right, we come out way ahead than buying individual drinks.  I also have become addicted to sparkling water and was already addicted to coffee ?

I've done it on the Oasis class ships and enjoyed it.  On one occasion it was better than the land equivalent that I've gone to a few times in my hometown.

Odyssey looks fun because there may be views to the sea.

I also don't see it in the CP but I also don't see My Time dining so they must be still working on it.

It does list Teppanyaki for a Haifa sailing in May in the Royal app so I would keep checking as we get closer.

Symphony has Teppanyaki?

All Oasis class do.  They call it Izumi Hibachi.

The close name to Izumi has been a source of confusion.  They use the same space, regular Izumi to left, Hibachi to the right.  When on the ship if you call for a reservation the first question is always "Hibachi or sushi?".

Freedom, Indy and Mariner also have Teppanyaki ...  I mean Izumi Hibachi.

Spectrum and Odyssey are the first to use the name Teppanyaki.

Oh very cool, good to know! So when I book my dining reservation on Cruise Planner should I look for Izumi or Hibachi? I don't see Hibachi listed on Odyssey cruise planner options, only Izumi and no mention of Hibachi style dining...?

I believe they are using the new name on Spectrum and Odyssey so expect or look out for Teppanyaki.

FWIW - The UDP has this note:

  • For ships with these venues, Teppanyaki/Izumi Hibachi is included, with a $10 surcharge, which will be charged onboard.*
