Australia/NZ Cruising News

Recommended Posts

With all that is going on with our various Premiers and Health advisers, there is no way there will be Australian cruise season.

The games politicians are playing with all our lives is disgusting.

I am fully vaccinated but stuck in lockdown in NSW and I can't travel to visit my sister six hours north, let alone my ill dad in WA. This is not right, why bother getting vaccinated if I am not free to live my life.

Sorry to turn the conversation away from cruising. Looking at and reading all about how well Royal and Celebrity are moving forward, I would feel so safe on a cruise; more so than going to my local shopping centre where certain types don't wear masks.

Waiting for Royal to officially cancel my next two cruises, one is now only 88 days away. This will be our seventh cancelled cruise and my disappointment is turning into frustration; not with Royal; they are a business. but with our elected officials.

No timelines but here is the plan released today .. the question is which phase will cruising start?

I guess some kind of plan is better than nothing, but with under 8% fully vaccinated, we're still a long way off Phase 2. I guess the cruise lines are hopeful by not cancelling the whole season at once, but I agree with @CruisingOzcan't see it happening.

The Transpacxific cruises were cancelled and also the NZ Oct 16th

Attach is the letter from guest relation. It is addressed to guests on the Quantum even though I was on the Ovation.

They aHave cancelled Quantum, Serenade, and 2 x Ovation

So sad and frustration, was really looking forward to a 28 day B2B to make up for all the lost time

Very disappointing - And no mention of the double status credits compensation in that letter!

You only get the C&A points if you actually sail; I had already had a few cancellations and this one round of cancellations means I lost another 112 C&A points.

The good news is Royal have extended the double points offer.

I am so frustrated with our Government, Australia does so well on the world stage but this whole Covid issue has been very poorly handled and our media is so bias.

I went to a specialist this morning and mentioned cruising; and I got a lecture about the whole petrie dish story. I sorted her out

It still says on the RC website that the Double Points offer only goes through to September 2022 - in other words; excludes the Australian 2022/23 cruise season.

Need to update my signature and remove a couple sailings but fingers crossed, I will spend NY's in Miami for a series of cruises and our first Perfect Day

Well that sucks hahaha, time to pick a new cruise, rebook flights and rooms.

All I can say is I guess good things come to those who wait.

Question tho, I had a cruise canceled in Nov 2020 and I received 125% FCC.

I had that FCC applied to a cruise in Jan 2022.

Now Jan 2022 is cancelled, do I get a further 125% FCC on top?

No they won't give you an extra 125% on top of an FCC, only on actual dollars paid. You will be re-issued your FCC. I wish

Has the Australian government or even the New Zealand government ever stated why they will not at the very least allow cruising to resume from Australia or New Zealand while restricting cruising to citizens of these 2 countries?  We have seen these types of cruises work in Singapore where only Singapore residents can cruise so why can't the governments of these two countries do the same?  These cruises could potentially be restricted to Australian and New Zealand ports or they could be cruises to nowhere.

I feel sad that it appears as though no progress has been made to help Australian's and New Zealanders get back out on the open seas.

The issue is they won’t let ships full of foreign crew in as it’s deemed a risk to our relatively low case numbers. Our vaccination rate of around 10% is currently too low.

Yes, the crew could be vaccinated and quarantine at sea for weeks but for some reason it’s still an issue.

Some smaller companies have been able to start with Australian crew.

Hey guys, I just heard that Royal is releasing a new season of cruises from Royal on the Ovation from Dec 21 to Apr 22, It is embargo until this Thursday 5th Aust time.

I believe they have cancelled all the cruises so they can rebook them as they will be cruises to nowhere, so no Sth Pacific and reduced capacity.

Talk to your travel agent so they can unofficially discuss your options

Nothing of interest to me unfortunately. They’re mostly short cruises and I really prefer the longer sailings. It’s not really valuable for me to spend $300-500 on return flights and accommodation to Sydney when the cruise is only 5 nights long and only visits one port. Happy to see the cruise industry getting a restart though! I wondered if some announcements might be made following the release of the road map, so I hope it all goes smoothly!

Fortunately I already had a back up cruise for December 2022!
Unfortunately said cruise is still 506 days away ?

I guess it will time for some B2B cruises. For us the ship is the destination  and just being out on the ocean.  I am lucky and live in Sydney so I done need to factor in flights and accomodation; if I had too then perhaps my though process would be different.

The issue that I can fore see is the government is not talking about any cruise restart plans so how real would Dec start really be? We are still working on a plan to travel to the US end of Dec to do some real cruises

Sadly with the current COVID outbreak in your part of the country, for those of us from outwith NSW, I don't see any hope of us being able to go on the new cruises without needing quarantine when we get home. And that's before we even consider the probability of the federal government allowing the ships in to begin with

Rebooked cruise on Ovation ....one day later and same owners suite...... wait for it.....priced at AUD3001 dollars more than the original, admittedly the earlier cruise was a lift and shift X 2 times from 2 previous cancellations so it progressively increased in price over time but as I feel I will have one foot in the grave if I have to put it off for another year with another lift and shit I bit the bullet with the FCC, in the long run it will cost an extra $2175.......a shame as I had already final paid it...it goes to prove my husband is right..I am addicted....oops I meant lift and shift ..or did I?

Are they offering FCC?  It says they will be automatically rebooking people onto the new cruise unless they cancel for a refund. yet have sent emails to some saying they will automatically get a 125% FCC?

The lift and shift are for 1 year away ...FCC if you do

not request refund hope that helps
