I'm hoping to do a NZ/Australia one way cruise (i.e. Sydney to Auckland)  in Nov/Dec 2023.  Does anyone know when Celebrity releases the schedule for these cruises?

Just released up until April 2023 not long ago, so I am guessing towards the end of the year.

No pay wall on this one:

https://cruisepassenger.com.au/tourism-minister-says-he-will-hold-talks-mid-june-on-a-possible-cruise-return/

most interesting section was:

Mr Tehan said: “My hope is if we can continue managing the pandemic like we are, we will be able to see more cruise ships in our waters hopefully in the waters between Australia and New Zealand as well.”

So NZ might be in the game as well! Fingers crossed!!!!

Pfizer shots are now available to the 30-49yo cohort here in WA, with 20,000 bookings made (myself and the missus included) since the announcement yesterday arvo.  I believe nationally that Pfizer is now available for anyone 40+.

This would seem to be the start of what will hopefully be an upwards spike in the rollout.

I think we have almost taken the lead here in Victoria. Just need a small outbreak/lockdown to get people going.

As of this morning I am fully vaccinated and ready to cruise!!!!!!

The cruise ban expires in 8 days. An announcement coming in the next few days I am guessing from previous extensions. Will it be good news?

I'd be surprised if there was good news at this stage. There's an election looming, don't forget.

Well I guess we will have a better idea around the 17th.

In NSW they are talking about issuing vaccince passports which will be fantastic as this should allow us to travel and enter the US, Singapore, etc. We have our second shot of Astra this month, so will all good to go

You can download your Covid vax certificate from MyGov (Medicare). I am guessing this is the 'passport' or what you will be required to show before travelling??

Is the passport concept more of a QR code thing that you have on your personal device? ie. phone

I can access the online version from MyGov/Medicare, but they are talking about an actual passport/card which you get though Service NSW; unsure of the Vic / WA equivalent. It is where NSW go for drivers, boat licenses and more

This will be great as it will be something we would be able to use everywhere and would be more formal than the MyGov download.

Lets see

I’m not talking about the immunisation history.. but there is a ‘digital certificate’ that appears which you can download to your phone, etc once you have had the second dose.

Royal Caribbean, which was to have had four ships, Serenade, Radiance, Ovation and Quantum of the Seas homeported in Australia when the wave season was to have started in September, has told Cruise Passenger the deployment is under a “full review”.

A spokesperson said: “In response to the Australian Government’s extension of the international cruise ban, we are currently completing a full review of our upcoming summer program and will announce any necessary changes in the coming weeks. As the Cruise Lines International Association said yesterday, we urge the government to commence discussions with the industry to take real steps towards establishing a plan for future cruise operations.”

We are expecting an update soon as our Transpacific final payment is due in a day or two and Royal have said we don't have to pay the final balance.

It is so disappointing that the Government are not putting a road map in place. I am now full vacinatted and even though I haven't booked flight tickets yet, we are planning to cruise out of the US in Jan and Feb. If the Australian season is cancelled, then might tack on a couple more while state side?

The annoying part for us is the uncertainty with C&A double points ending on booking after June; we don't know where to put our FCC's. First word problem, ah.

I really hope things in Australia will progress like the US. There was virtually nothing and then within the space of three weeks they now have test cruises leaving US ports. It might be the same here but I fear the major cruise companies have to draw a line in the sand and you can't run a business on a possiblity. The government needs to make some noise about a controlled restart ASAP.

The possible issue is the upcoming election, and the PM saw how well the state elections went when closed boarders were the game play. I really hope this is not the case.

For a country who is a world leader in so many aspects, we are so backwards in some of our descisons.

I dare say we will know by the end of the month if they write off the summer season. I would really like to spend my money locally but if I have to travel overseas to cruise; I am gone baby.

That's if you can get out by Jan/Feb?

Unless you have some kind of exemption I don't see international travel for the regular person available by then either.

I will risk the fine, fly via NZ or if opened, via Singapore or Bali. We should know more by Oct/Nov

Will you also risk the inability to return home for months with associated costs, and the cost of paying for 2 weeks in quarantine? ??

As keen as I am to go on a cruise, leaving the country (for the foreseeable future) to go on one is nowhere near as easy as you make it sound.

Sometimes you wonder why they bother sending through a statement like that.

I am reliably told that Royal will announce cancellations of all their Australaian cruises up until the 31st December. No word on after that time. So two more cancellations, FCC, and all the casino comp negotiations; what a nightmare

Princess cruises has now cancelled Australian cruises through to 19 December 2021.

I assume Royal won’t be too far behind.

I have paid for all our cruises in full to optimise the 125% fcc to use when we rebook.

P&O as well. Same parent company obviously, Carnival have also removed everything before 25th Nov from website.

I'm just gonna take the refund and book a land holiday. I still have Jan and Feb bookings that look like they will survive the cut for now.

Anyone else super surprised that they haven’t just thrown the towel in for the whole season? Like, that’s exactly what I was expecting. Not sure if I should be taking this as a hopeful sing that my Jan cruise has a chance of going ahead, or just that the cruise lines are dreaming and trying to keep our money for as long as possible ??
