Landry_TX
I am currently booked on the July 3rd cruise on Adventure out of Nassau. I know Royal has already confirmed that only Royal Caribbean provided shore excursions will be allowed for these sailings. Looking at the cruise planner, the selection is very limited. Does anybody know if Royal will continue to vet shore excursion providers to add to the list over the next few months or if this list is final? Thanks! I wasn't aware Royal stated that. Celebrity has stated that ship excursions are not required for Millennium. They are allowing self exploration but have stated that guests must follow rules as established by the country being visited. If a country such as Aruba requires masks then you must wear a mask off the ship. If the next country requires something else, then that is required for guests while off the ship. I saw this blog post from Matt. https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2021/03/22/you-will-only-be-able-book-cruise-line-shore-excursions-adventure-of-the-seas-cruises Supposedly Vicki Freed from RCL confirmed this. twangster
I think this is a developing situation. What we hear a lot from her now is "we'll know more about the protocols soon". Even the cruise planner for Adventure has this banner: I get the impression they are trying to find ways to ease as many restrictions as possible. wordell1
The excursions that are in there are pretty bad. Half day only. I'm hoping they either add more choices or allow us to go on our own.
twangster
I have to imagine a number of local tour companies have either gone under or their employees took jobs in some other field to support their families when the pandemic hit. It could take some time for tour operators to come back once cruising restarts. Landry_TX and JLMoran
twangster
I haven't seen that Royal has published updated protocols to the extent that Celebrity has and all of this is subject to change, but their protocols are here: https://www.celebritycruises.com/health-and-safety For shore excursions the current policy as of Mar. 25 2021: We strongly recommend our curated shore excursions which extend the highest health and safety standards. Most experiences are outdoors and guests will be encouraged to stay with their group at all times and maintain physical distancing. Buses will be at reduced capacity and will be sanitized frequently. For Guests looking for a more intimate experience, Small Group Discoveries will be available and for those who would prefer to tour with their family or group, Private Journeys will be available. We’re working closely with local government to comply with their requirements. Royal does not appear to have updated their protocols and they can be found here: https://www.royalcaribbean.com/the-healthy-sail-center https://www.royalcaribbean.com/the-healthy-sail-center/shore-excursions-health Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, guests are currently only permitted to book and participate in Shore Excursions which are selected and approved by Royal Caribbean Group (“Approved Shore Excursion”). FManke
I think this like many things with potential upcoming cruises, is at best, fluid. Protocols, rules and regulations will be changing weekly, if not daily. Happy Cruising!
