On Board Credit

Recommended Posts

I have $600 onboard credit for a sailing in June 2021 - but can't use it on other cruises I have booked (it's assigned to the cruise not my account).

What happens when (if) Royal cancel this cruise:

1. Do I just lose this credit? Or get 125% onboard credit for it...?

2. Can I lift and shift this credit alongside the cruise?

3. If I've spent it onlineon drinks packages etc... do I simply lose it...or do I need to have spent it to get 125% on board credit?

Can't work it out... if I need to have spent it, I will quickly go and book up low of spa treatments ?

It depends how you came into the OBC.

Sometimes Royal allows OBC to be transferred to a new booking made from a cruise they cancel.

I'd suggest if the cruise cancels that you call and talk to a human rather than trying to do something online.  Before you do anything inquire about the OBC and ask if it can be moved to a new booking.

The 125% cruise planner purchases program has typically only applied to cruise planner purchases made with a credit card, not OBC purchases so the 125% will most likely not be available for OBC.

I had my Allure Jan 17 2021 chartered. I moved to one of the offered dates, Jan 10 2021 and given a $600obc. I spent it all in pre cruise planner. Cruise cancelled. I received email from Royal with link to 125% cruise planner credit. I filled out my info. Still waiting for certificate, should be $750 for me to apply to a future sailing.

I tried that for a number of cancelled cruises.  I wish you better luck than me.

We had an April 2020 cruise on Mariner that was cancelled.  Took the 125% OBC offer.  Was able to apply that to new April 2021 cruise on Independence.  When that voyage cancelled, I made a simple call to Royal and they were able to remove the OBC from that cruise and move it to our new April 2022 cruise on Odyssey.  It took less than 5 minutes and instantly showed in the cruise planner for the new cruise.

Fabulous, well I've spent my OBC on spa, hair, teeth, and nail treatments.  So if they cancel June cruises I've got my fingers crossed that I can get 125% or simply have 100%moved to another cruise.

On another note, just got emailed by Royal to take part in a survey about this June cruise. They were asking about why I booked, what I expect from a covid p.o.v., and what I want most from this cruise.  Was it too cheeky for me to say "I wanted it to just Sail" ?

When you have purchases from cruise planner on a cancelled sailing and you choose 125%, does that come in an email to you or do you have to call to get it transferred to a different sailing?

Based on my experience from May 2020, they canceled the purchases and then I received an email at some point that listed what my onboard FCC was for future use and the related "certificate numbers".  It was broken out by person, so both myself and my wife have individual onboard FCCs (each person received an email).  At some point you will need to contact Royal and have the Onboard FCC added to your future cruise.

We have not yet added the onboard FCC to a cruise, and I assume a travel agent can do the "foot work" for you.

There is a lot of conflicting information as to if I can spend the wife's FCC on my purchases and vice versa, but i'll cross that bridge later.  Mostly we only purchase the Refreshment drink package,  so it's not a huge deal.

Good Luck and Stay Safe.

My mom & I was supposed to sail on Harmony last. April but the cruise was cancelled and we had $325 OBC on that sailing so when we booked another cruise we (mom & I) talked to Royal & asked if they could please add the $325 OBC to the cruise that we just booked because the OBC was from a cancelled sailing & there was no problem with royal adding the $325 OBC from a cancelled cruise to the new cruise that we had booked.

Any tricks on getting RCCL to up their OBC amounts... I'm seeing respectable numbers for you guys. They just cancelled me for a trip a year away and offered me $50 OBC for the headaches  for 2 balconies... You guys are seeing way better numbers than that...

If you find them let us know.  Prior to the pandemic they had money in the pockets for goodwill.  I've lost two Star Class bookings from the pandemic and have been offered less than you.  Zero.

We had two cruises cancelled last year that we took the 125% Cruise Planner Credit and moved it to two this year. We worked through the Casino Royale folks and they moved the credit to existing cruises we had booked already. Worked fine and hopefully we will not have to move it again as they are later in the year. May's cancellation we had to take back as a refund as the Casino person my wife talked to told her he could not give us the 125% and move it to another one of our cruises. Depends on who you talk to.
