Thanks for tip!  This actually runs into April 2023 departures...

There's also a 13-night repo from Galveston to Bayonne:

Interesting to see cruises to Canada already posted. ?

Canada has banned cruise ships till February 2022..I would NOT take a chance on booking a cruise for 3 mths later......not with Canadas tack record with Covid so far.

Just a word of wisdom to all those anxious to book a cruise to or through Canadian waters....wait till 2023 to be safe at this point!

[Please forget that I just said, 2 days ago, that I would not book any new cruises]

Just booked the 9-4-22 14 night Voyager out of Copenhagen repositioning to Boston.  So excited about going to Norway, Iceland and Greenland !  It's expensive but I was able to get a casino discount so that helped quite a bit.

That's basically the reverse of the itinerary I was supposed to sail last year on Celebrity. But with it sailing in September when there'll be some actual night time, you should have at least some chance to see the Northern Lights.

Congratulations on snagging that! I'm officially jealous! ?

I just noticed that they have updated the opening schedule from what @Matt posted a few weeks ago.  Now there appears to be a Phase 1 and Phase 2 Northeast release.  Wonder what Phase 2 would be because Phase 1 is pretty slim pickings.  Any guesses?

Still waiting for Anthem's eastbound TA in April/May 2022. I notice the previous week's 7-nighter (24 April 2022) has mysteriously gone AWOL from the website.

However, I am beginning to come to the conclusion that it would probably be wise to do as @monctonguy says and hold off till 2023. ?

Does Baltimore get released with the northeast sailings?  I didn’t notice any of those up yet in this batch.

also with Empress gone, wondering if there maybe another ship coming up to Bayonne for the summer, looks like currently will be Oasis and Adventure with Voyager in Boston.

thanks for posting about the new itineraries out, was waiting for Bermuda out of Bayonne in 2022!

You've got skiing on the brain lol.

I was really surprised too this morning and I thought I misread your previous post.  That made me go back and double check.

I don't know about November 2022 - March 2023, but I did notice that Indy, Navigator, and Freedom are unaccounted for in Summer 2022.  I keep wondering where these ones are headed and if one more is possibly headed to Bayonne.

I've sailed on Anthem 3 times in the past but never during the winter (DEC-MAR).  Royal always throws some really cool one off type cruises on Anthem, and in January 2023 they have an 11 night Southern Caribbean cruise that caught my attention.  My question is for those who have cruised out of Bayonne during the winter how many days does it take to reach warm weather on the outbound and how many days are you in cold weather on the inbound?  I'm asking because I live in cold weather state this cruise looks great but I'm just wondering how many days will I have to spend in the cold while onboard?

@twangsterhas sailed these longer Caribbean sailings from NJ.

Personally, we sailed a 8 night in March 2018 and I did not care for it at all. Took two days to “warm” up and lost two days on the way back because it got cold. Even the first stop in PC was not that warm. I promised myself that I would not sail out of NJ again in the winter after that sailing.

@JasonOasis, while I haven't sailed Anthem in the dead of winter yet, I've sailed her twice in mid-October to Bermuda. On both of those sailings, we went from 40s in NJ to 70s on the open ocean by the time we woke up the day after embarkation.

Going straight south in January, I would think you'll at least be out of warm jacket weather when outdoors on the deck by that same point in time. And shorts weather by the day after that. Even if things don't quite go according to that schedule, Anthem is designed as a cold weather climate ship and has more than enough to do indoors to keep you happy. Her Solarium is my favorite so far (disclaimer -- I've only sailed on two ships in Royal's fleet), and between that and her indoor pool area she's got enough water / lounging space to keep you happy on that front until you're in warmer climes.

Don't listen to @Lovetocruise2002. She may be Canadian, but for some reason she's not acclimated to the cold the way us NJ natives are. ?

These cruises start and end with what I call... "Long Pants Days".

You won't need long pants on the sea days when indoors on the ship (unless you prefer long pants) but on the pool deck or outdoors long pants will likely be appreciated.

The exact timing when short can be donned and the long pants put in the closet will vary cruise to cruise based on weather.  The first day and last day are likely candidates.  The ability to shed the long pants on the next days will depend on your personal preferences.  I was in shorts but others weren't ready to expose their knees just yet.

He’s right, I am biased. I hate the cold. But I still stand by my stance on not sailing out of NJ in the winter lol.

We were kicking around the idea of a Feb 2023 out of New Jersey but worry weather would be the wild card for traveling to/from the terminal.

While driving to NJ makes the most sense for us personally, a snowstorm like the most recent one would shut everything down....roads, flights, etc.

I know that weather is always a factor for those of us traveling to/from northern climates, however it's one thing to fly out of any winter weather, it's another to have to worry about it from start to finish.  Even a storm at the end of the cruise would suck for getting home.

We've done Quantum in early March; arrived to an icy ship that came back during a snowstorm and by mid-day the next day we were on the top deck in a light jacket.  People were in the covered pool having a grand old time!  This class is built for the weather, with so much being indoors we didn't even notice the outdoor temps unless we walked on the top deck.

I have sailed out of Bayonne before on Anthem.  January.  There were things I wanted to do in NY during cold weather.  Like ice skate.

I live in Montana, so also from a cold climate in winter.  But I did not mind the cruise out of Bayonne at all.  Was only cooler the first and last days.  And it was sunny the whole time.  I would do it again with no hesitation.

I saw this the other day and i was floored by the itinerary. September seems like a perfect time to be in the area. I'll probably be on this cruise as well for my wife's birthday!

Just need to work out a couple details before we book.  Going to have to choose between this with the additional time off work, international flight and other additional expenses or a local Star class cruise i was already eye balling around the same time.  That star class cruise was coming in cheaper than a balcony room on this but I'm interested in a grand suite so i can get those suite perks. The price is adding up...

Seeing some conflicting info suite perks since the amp. Is there a definitive source for Voyager info? Guess there was only a few months of this ship even being around after it was amped before covid kicked in.

This will be our first time on Voyager but we have been on many Voyager class ships.  There is almost no difference between the Voyager and Freedom classes.  Voyager class is just a hint shorter but most of the same amenities are there.  I haven't really found much "Voyager-specific" info except something like below.

You have a very hard decision to make !  One that I would not want to have to make myself.  Personally, I think the price of this Arctic cruise is unjustifiably high....and when you add in airfare it is now super duper high.  The only reason we are going is b/c we've been looking for an itin like this for a long time.  We are staying on for the next cruise, which will be the first CAN/NE cruise for Voyager.  That cost for cruise is ALSO very high.  We are doing a GS for the same reason that you mentioned...b/c of the suite perks.  When you're on a long cruise with lots of sea days, I think those perks are even more important than ever.  Personally, if it were me, I would probably do the local SC cruise and wait for another northern Europe cruise with hopes that the future ones would be a bit more reasonably priced.

Here is some info on the Voyager amp:

If you are talking comparing GS perks on Voyager to Sky perks on Oasis Class I think the biggest difference is that there is no Coastal Kitchen and you don't get free Zoom on Voyager.

I'm siding with this trip over the SC one for a few reasons. The time frame lines up pretty well with a time i can typically take off. Plus if my cruise this Halloween still sails the SC cruise next year would make my 3rd time to the same ports. How many times do you really want to go to Nassau?  I probably wouldn't even get off the ship

Most people love the tropics but i spent 30 years in Florida so it's not all that different. Iceland, Greenland and Norway though?  These are places I've always wanted to go but thought I wouldn't ever make it to.

We are going to discuss more this weekend and probably make a decision 1 way or another.

Noticed these were out. We currently have 2 Anthem bookings and if we don't make them due to pandemic, then will most likely try again March 2023. If prices were good then would have booked but opening prices are quite high. Am obsessed with trying this ship as we keep missing it (including March 2020). New Jersey is closer for us so that's a plus and we're ok trying an indoor ship for when it's cold.

Was sad to see Adventure doing the Bermuda cruise in summer 2022. We currently have Freedom for thus summer... And that won't happen. DH and I were on Adventure but Freedom would be more kid friendly .

I feel the same way and had built a 2020 and 2021 cruise calendar full of more distant bucket list cruises.  Then the pandemic happened.

Having said that it looks like those Bahamas/Caribbean cruises are safer bets in the near term but as the world gets back to normal the bucket list destinations are calling my name.

This Voyager cruise has a pretty awesome itinerary.  For around the same price I have a B2B on Jewel to Norway and then Iceland spending more time in each destination.  The Voyager itinerary has become my backup plan because it is a very attractive itinerary on a nicer ship although the enclosed solarium on Jewel may work better in the region.

For now I've grabbed a refundable booking on Voyager so I can sit back and watch how the world reopens in 2021 (hopefully).  If that slips into 2022 I can re-evaluate at some point in early 2022.

If in doubt grab something refundable.

Remember how we said that Freedom prices in 2021 were ridiculous?  Well Adventure in 2022 is even worse!  That being said, I did book a short sailing on Adventure for the end of July 2022.  It's more for sentimental reasons.  It will be our 20th anniversary and we started on Adventure so I could not resist.  Really hope the price on that sailing drops along the way.  It already dropped $150 since booking lol.

Happy Anniversary!  Funny as it's DH's and my 20th anniversary this year in June (which sucks though as no travelling for us....who knows if we can even go to a restaurant for a nice meal to celebrate)

Is it a Bermuda cruise?  I know the port and fees are extra.

Don't get me wrong, DH and I quite enjoyed Adventure (but it's not Oasis class), but as a family cruise it's like Mariner but with less for kids (no sky pad, no laser tag).

Hope you get that price drop and have a wonderful celebration.

Please don't tell anyone, but we also booked the follow-on to this cruise with the first VY CAN/NE cruise (9-18-22).
