Baked Alaska
Has anyone else seen this? Okay, what's the "caveat?" Only applies to new bookings? Previous lift and shift? I don't see any information on it. Ogilthorpe, YOLO, DDaley and 1 other 3
CrznTxn
If it applies to all sailings in 2021 then it will make up for the four we have had to cancel already this year. It would be a nice perk even though it was not their fault for not sailing. It would be even better if they awarded triple points for those of us who still have a cruise set up for late this year and are still holding out to see if we can go. It is a short one to CoCo Cay at near the end of the year so maybe we might get to go. Baked Alaska and Tanner

HeWhoWaits
That wasn't on the site a week ago when my wife and her friends booked a 12 night repositioning cruise. Mathias
Yes, I sure hope for quadruple points. Have a Junior Suite booked next year for a 10 day sailing. Would really give a boost if we get 40 CAS-points for that. And maybe I put my wife in a cheep Inside Cabin and stay alone to get the solo points also, (10 + 10 + 10) x 2 = 60 points for one sailing! Hopefully @Matt will have some info on this soon. YOLO, WAAAYTOOO and Ogilthorpe 1

Atlantix2000
Wow, this could lead to some serious inflation of the number of Diamond and up cruisers. WannaCruise
We have a refundable and just got a price drop. So in theory, we could cancel and then rebook for the same price....but then we would lose our drink package and excursion and no guarantee that the cruise planner items will come back down. The items seem to go up and down so maybe if they yo-yo back down again, but even then its a pain to cancel and rebook. Are cancellations instant? We would want to get the same stateroom back as we booked a specific aft room. YOLO

If someone is that close to leveling up that this promo puts them over, chances are they had a sailing on 2020 cancelled and the 2021 sailing would have pushed them across the threshold had there never been a pandemic. There are a small group of point maximizers who will net some benefit from this. Florida frequent sailers mostly, but probably they'll use it to reach Diamond Plus or maybe Pinnacle in 2021 rather than 2022. I see this as a means to get most guests to where they would have been if 2020 hadn't been wiped out. Snowchaser
Serious question, how many perks do people really use now that are tied with each tier? It seems way back when when we were gold status that we received a coupon book with lots of good freebies but in recent years and at a higher status we rarely see any perks we can use. Just wonder if this is really a selling point or if it more of a strictly personal status?
WAAAYTOOO
Over on CC they are reporting that a FB post indicated that Royal is extending the "double points" offer to those with already-booked cruises. I don't know how accurate that is...but that's what they're reporting. A lot of people want the Diamond status because it gets them access to the Diamond Lounge and Diamond Happy Hour. After another next big perk comes at the 350 point mark (I think) is where the solo supplement is only 50%, so if you're sailing by yourself you don't have to pay double. That could be a pretty significant per sailing cost. Those two perks to me ones that are worth the intentional climb. Snowchaser

Just wonder if this is really a selling point or if it more of a strictly personal status? Besides what @AshleyDillo mentioned, there's also a good Diamond perk for onboard internet purchase that @twangster covered a while back; basically, wait until day 2 for your VOOM purchase (easy when you're in port and have cell service most of the day), and the prorated price for Diamond level becomes lower than the best price you can find on the Cruise Planner. IIRC, there's also Diamond-level onboard pricing on the DBP that makes it better than anything on the CP. Pretty sure @twangster has also written about taking advantage of that on his more-recent (not totally fake and unrealistic ) live blogs. JLMoran
I was really tempted to book an October 2021 Bermuda sailing on Freedom -- just need 7 points to hit Platinum (and cross-loyalty Select on X), and with double C&A it would do the trick. But I'm still dubious about whether we'll have a vaccine that's effective and widely available all that much before then, and my wife said she'd rather lock up money on anything in '21 before we know that as well. But, this offer is good until Dec 31. So if we get a Nov / Dec announcement of a vaccine, and it is indeed shown to be effective, this booking might yet happen. Sharla
I'm on with Crown and Anchor now- and so far yes it's for existing bookings but no C&A discounts apply. So I'm sure the price would go up for most people. And it sounds like it will be applied automatically. She said that if there is a C&A discount then we'll need to call C&A and have that removed in order to get the double points, which means the price could go up. Again, she said the full T&C have not yet been released so that might change. teddy, Baked Alaska and Neesa
JLMoran
I just got an email from Celebrity offering the same promo for the sister line, but with an even longer window: Quote What are you waiting for? Offer is valid for sailings from January 1, 2021 - May 4, 2022. Book online with your Captain's Club member identification number, call us at 1-877-202-4344, or contact your travel advisor before December 31, 2020. Basically, all currently offered sailings are valid. It's probably a pipe dream, but I'm hoping this means that when the 2022-23 itineraries are released that they'll extend this offer to include those sailings through Dec 31, 2022. Since I'm more likely to be booking with X for my 2022 family trip, that would be fan-freaking-tastic! Baked Alaska

teddy
Wow. WAAAYTOOO
We have 100 night booked in 2021, all in suites. Not sure how the “C&A discount” clause is going to affect them. We rarely use the C&A discount anyway. Some random promo discount usually pushes the C&A Discount out. Many of these bookings are casino comps so no C&A discount was applied. SO...if all of them Sail and are awarded an extra point, we would accumulate 300 points in 2021. We currently need 190 points to make Pinnacle. It’s looking good ! DublinFC
I sent in a msg to our TA to see if we can reprice for our July booking. We just booked 2 weeks ago. Hoping the price stays the same so we can take advantage of the double points. Would be a great way to get closer to the next level in C&A. We would be 4 nights away from Platinum if we can get it to work for us. WAAAYTOOO
