What are thoughts on casinos when cruising starts again?

If masks become required in public spaces, I would think they would almost have to eliminate smoking in the casinos.

As a smoker i have said previously on these threads that smoking in casinos should be stopped, however if we are just saying masks must be worn in all public spaces then that would include Restaurants and bars! And this is the problem finding a fine line that keeps everyone happy in this new normal.

Ok we ban smoking in casinos ! Im ok with this but what about the guy who doesnt smoke yet he has been onshore all day not adhereing to any covid rules and turns up in Casino or MDR still wearing the same clothes from that days outing that he's been sweating into?

No masks while you eat or drink and god knows whats flying about the air but its ok cause hes not smoking!

Totally agree its two separate issues.. I personally just think smoking in casinos should be banned period not because of Masks or Covid but because its harmful to other people's health..

As i have said i totally agree however point i was making is that people turning up in MDR wearing the same clothes they have had on for 2 days are potentially just as harmful than 2nd hand smoke in the casino.

And yes i have witnessed this on FOTS when a female wore the same short/top outfit 2 days running! She even did the zumba class at poolside and went onshore, in todays world who knows what bacteria would be on her outfit that could not just be harmful but could potentially be fatal

You're right...it's a never ending Pandora's Box. Currently, the Florida theme parks allow masks to be removed if you are stationary and eating/drinking (no wandering around and munching your popcorn at the moment). That might be a similar rule that the cruise lines make. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a perfect answer...but I've said to my husband at least a zillion times, I am so glad I'm not the one who has to make these decisions b/c no matter what is decided, someone is going to be unhappy.

Personally, I'll just be happy to get back on a ship...whenever that finally happens, I will follow whatever rules they want (as long as it isn't illegal, immoral, or fattening...OK, we can remove fattening for the context of a cruise ? )! ?

With regards to clothing I think that many of us try to pack as light as possible, so that means reusing clothes, and mixing and matching. I don't know if spraying your stuff with Febreeze or something more "natura;" in between uses would be a viable solution, but... maybe?

I'm all for smoke free casinos. I'm also wondering if chips are going to get phased out in favour of touch screens that can be easily wiped down in between uses. I rather like the feel of chips in my hand, but I can understand if they take that away.

Without chips, games like Craps & Roulette officially suck. Also, what about rolling the dice? At some point there has to be a line in the sand regarding the overall experience. If I wanted to play video roulette or video craps it can be done on my phone on my couch. Part of the experience is the casino itself. A beer at the casino bar while catching part of a game on the TV or watching a hot table and deciding where to put my money down. The experience will change but it’s just a question of how much?

I want the smoking to go away...but if it does then the casino will take more money from me.....

As far as the clothes thing goes........COVID doesn't linger on fabrics, but other bacteria does. Which you would mostly have to be really close to get...unless it is bacteria that causes an odor. I was once on a tour group with a lady who packed wrong. She only brought one pair of leggings, she wore them everyday, and to every activity. She never smelled but after the fifth day, she sheepishly informed us that she washed them every night as soon as she returned to the room. But I get it, I don't want to smell smoke or funk.

I agree with you about craps and roulette. Hard to enjoy craps without rolling the dice. But they can probably utilize a small UV light to sanitize 5 dice. And you take away from the experience if you're not tossing bets everywhere on the table.

And yet it makes too much sense to take the physical chip out of circulation for health and safety precautions.

Cruise casino's while 'fun' at sea don't really yield much in the way of returns. I find land casinos allow one to yield higher returns overall. Plus the smoking is a big turn off, which is how I don't get the logic behind smoking in casinos. Canada outlawed this a long time ago aka indoor smoking including Casinos but in the US its a different story. The slots are also generally more popular than the table games. Lots of casino type cruises out of Hong Kong though - will be interesting to see how those turn out later in the year.

Like I said, I love the smoke free casinos. Nice to walk through the Fallsview and not choke on a haze of smoke.

In terms of returns, you're correct. But I'd guess that many of the cruisers are very casual gamblers or relatively low stakes players like myself. In both cases, a slight increase in house edge isn't significant. If you're dropping 3 digits or more per bet, different story.

And I despise slots. If given the choice between losing money at a table or in front of a machine, give me the table every time. At least I can chat it up with other people there.

Agree the slot machines are mind numbing but I have done as well or better on machines then tables. Higher stakes play though for sure as I can’t hit a button all night betting .50 cents a push and ending the night with a cramp in my finger! Average $10 per slot pull and minimum $100/hand on table is more exciting for me personally (and the players club perks are decent).

Just got back from my second Vegas trip... They have now banned smoking at table games.. Not only does everyone have to wear a mask but if you want to smoke you cant do it at a table game.. I hope Royal follows suit once they reopen..

Never thought that day would come.  Used to live there when you could get the cheap prime rib at any of the casino hotels. Didn't gamble but ate out a lot.
