KJ1231
So thought it was going to be great back in March when I got the email for the "free" Club Royale cruise offer for September-December 2020. We booked one for the first week of December and I upgraded for a total of a little over $841 with taxes. My job got outsourced last week and I start with the new company on 10/12 and vacation accrual starts over so won't have the vacation time. On top of that, my wife works in a school and is being told she'll have to quarantine for 2 weeks when we get back and she doesn't have the time either. I sent an email to Club Royale indicating that we may have to cancel. Any idea what I can expect? 100% refund since we are127 days from sailing? WAAAYTOOO
I agree that you should be able to get a refund unless you upgraded to a suite, in which case they may penalize you ($100 PP) for cancelling a suite. Not sure how a NRD might apply but probably not.
KJ1231
They got back to me via email and it's 100% refund since we're more than 90 days out. They also said that the free cruise offer expires in December so can't book later. BUT they said I have another offer for beginning of 2021. Calling now! Dicey
Hi All - new to the board. I had the same issue and found this site while searching for answers. Thought I’d share my experience to help fellow cruisers with similar issue and looking for answers. We had a comped junior suite that we upgraded to the star class grand panoramic on an oasis may 2021 sailing. When I booked the casino royale rep assured me the the upgrade cost was 100% refundable as long it is cancelled before the final payment date, 90 days prior to sailing. The taxes and port fees do not go to RCL and are 100% refundable regardless when you cancel. The rep informed me that bookings through casino royale are subject to their own terms and the nrd policies do not apply. Today we found out that the we will not be able to cruise in may 2021 and had to cancel our reservation. Called casino royale and the rep cancelled and confirmed it was a 100% refundable booking. Refund for the full amount will be credited back my card but the bad news is they are currently experiencing heavy volumes of cancellations and the credit may take up to 45 days to be reflected. WAAAYTOOO
Welcome to the boards, Dicey. Glad to have you onboard ! Too bad you had to cancel. The GPS on Oasis is incredible. We were in that room in Dec 2019.

This is actually not quite accurate. If you book any suite through the casino it is definitely subject to the normal NRD rules just like any other booking. The rules for casino comp upgrades (as is your case) have different rules b/c the offer was based on a non-suite....but trust me, if you book a full suite through the casino, you are subject to NRD penalties.
