Cruise Planner Price drops

Recommended Posts

Just logged in to see if they assigned us a room yet for our Spring break cruise next year and noticed a lot of price drops on the cruise planner. Thrill water park pass was down to $52.99. Has been hoovering around $100. It never dropped below $79 for our canceled June or August cruises. The drink packaged dropped from $71 to to $53. For our August cruise I got it for $49. so going to hold out a little. The 100 prints or 100 digital photo package is down to $134. It was $149 for our August cruise.

You should buy the drink package at $53.  If it drops anytime up until about a week before your cruise you can cancel and rebook at the lower price.  BUT if you do not book now and it goes back up and you miss another sale...you will be stuck paying a higher price.  This sale is only on until July 22.

Doesn't everyone like free money? Thanks RCCL!

My many years of past parochial schooling so many decades ago and my religious beliefs and faith have left me feeling guilty and ashamed to even consider such things however; I have placed those who are able to change the current situation on notice of how my keen and devilish mindset sees things.

Having six cruises cancelled this year since March I have noticed a way to make free 125% FCC money. I have brought this matter to the attention of numerous booking agents directly employed with RCCL and been advised they will notify their supervisors of this. I have even written and telephoned RCCL's tech people only to be abruptly hung up on with a half-hearted "Thank You" and to date never receiving the courtesy of a written response.  So why do I still feel guilty? Have my guilty feelings, gravitational pull on my aging body and loss of the ozone layer which I truly miss prior to venturing outside and slathering on gobs of sunscreen jaded me? Many seniors are not tech savvy or follow the CDC or CLIA. Perhaps many have not even noticed the ability to book pre-cruise items even though a cruise has been canceled.  Albeit an unscrupulous and perhaps scandalous thing to do if you have a few bucks to spare you are able load up on pre-cruise planner items and hold onto your hat while watching your FCC wallet grow fatter. For example who needs to book a few floating multiple cabanas for each individual cruiser in your party of six people? At a cost of almost $1600.00 pp the FCC money really begins to add up. Prepaid excursions, no problem. Try this, multiply by125% and pat yourself on the back; you just received a huge chunk of free money! The website allows for you to make pre-cruise purchases even though a cruise has canceled but you must be quick and book it before or as late as the same day the cruise has been cancelled.

Tell my cruise genie and butler the secret password "Free Money" when ringing my penthouse cruise suite doorbell so they will let you in. Kindly excuse me as soon as you arrive as I leave my suite to go to the ships chapel and pray for myself before heading to the casino and bars onboard. Happy future cruising!

The caveat to this is that the cruise planner 125% credit has to be redeemed as an OBC and has to be spent as such.  It's also non-refundable OBC, meaning if you don't spend it on the Cruise Planner before you sail or on the ship then it goes POOF.

Between my canceled cruises in June and August, I got about about $400 free money which will cover our tips. We shouldn't have any problems spending it, but worst case we go to the casino and take the 5% hit and still come out 20% ahead.

How would this FREE money cover TIPS? Credits cannot be used to cover gratuities or taxes.

There's always sales on the Cruise Planner I'm personally holding off till close to my sail date in November or February 2021... at this point its best to not leave too much tied up in there. Personal preference.

Unless things have recently changed. You can use on board credit towards gratuities onboard. If you don't use all the cruise planner money to pre-purchase things, it will be added to your onboard account as onboard credit. I agree there are always sails on the planner, but some of these are a lot more then normal. It's definitely a personal preference. You can also look at it as your're getting a 25% roi from rccl if you know you will be sailing again with Royal.

It still works this way.  The daily service charge will show as a debit against your onboard account and your OBC is a credit that offsets this.  Casino charges show the same way, which is why you can liquidate the OBC at the casino.  If they have the charge to the room working on the slot machines, it doesn't even incur the 5% charge you get hit with by going to the cashier, either ?

I didn't realize that the FCC could be used for cruise planner items.  I thought it could only be used once you got on the ship.  For my cruise that was cancelled in June we took the FCC for the cruise rate but opted for a refund for the cruise planner purchases (alcohol packages and 3 night dining). We used the FCC to pay for our Jan 2021 cruise and used the refunded cash from the alcohol and dining to repurchase those items.  We still have over $400 in FCC and I may call RC to see if I can cancel the dining and use the FCC to repurchase it.  Thanks for the information.

You cannot.

I believe the above posts are all referring to the 125% OBC cruise planner refunds from the cancelled sailings, not to be confused with the 125% FCC from the cancelled sailings.

Agree with using it or losing it. Plenty of onboard spending options though.
