How Long for Cancelled Cruise to 'disappear' from Your Account?

Recommended Posts

I cancelled an April 2021 cruise and got a FCC which I know will take a few weeks+ to process.

However, when I log into my account I can see still all the info listing in the 'upcoming cruise' section.
Still has the reservation number, cabin number, etc, etc.

How long does it take for the cancellations to hit your account?

I had expected it to take awhile to process FCC but thought the actual reservation would be gone shortly after I cancelled (on the phone).
Its been about 4 days now and still showing up so thought I would ask here vs another lengthy wait on hold.

Any ideas or experience with this?   TIA.

This is an excellent question !!  In the good old days, a cancelled cruise would disappear from your My Cruises list almost immediately.  Cancelled was cancelled.  Now, it is my hypothesis that Royal is keeping all of the cruises "active" until after the cruise would have been completed, and at that point, the cruise is "officially" cancelled.  THAT is when the countdown clock starts, for obtaining refunds (my belief, only).

Just to make things even more complicated, my hypothesis was recently challenged when the October 11 Brilliance Blog Group Cruise disappeared from the My Cruises list.  On that same day, I received an email that showed that my Cruise Planner purchases were being cancelled.  So this cancellation defied the way I believed things were being processed.  OF course, I still have not seen a dime of the refund money from either the cruise or Cruise Planner purchases, but I don't expect those for a while.

I certainly wouldn't expect an April 2021 cruise to remain on your My Cruises list until April 2021, so who knows when they will officially remove it.  I definitely wouldn't expect to see any refunds or FCC's to be started until it disappears from your list though.  It is STILL my hypothesis that the refund process does not begin until that cruise disappears from your list.

We had a mid-March cruise that was cancelled but did not disappear until the end of the cruise sail date and according to the website, we are currently on a cruise that will end 6/21. Even though we cancelled both as soon as Royal announced, both remained active in the cruise planner. Based on the March cancellation and refunds, I honestly do not expect the refunds to appear 45 days or later after the cruise end date and if true to form only partial refunds will be received. Both cruises were TA booked and cancelled. Our July cruise that we booked direct through the Casino disappeared within a couple of days and we have received full refunds for it. The March cruise refunds were about 80% and were not received until May 17.

This sounds like a Lift & Shift rather than a cancellation.

No it was a cancelled Baltic 12 night in July 2021 to a quick Queensland sampler in January 2021 I was surprised with how quickly it was handled and was grateful we did not get charged a change fee or lose any of the deposit (maybe because I upgraded to an owners suite) I am looking forward to taking a longer cruise some time next year but have been wary of all the changes that are occurring due the the plague                                                                                                                            pint.jpg.8f30dbb0a54b44f5ff0e478267aa51d4.jpg
