Just back

We just got back from our cruise on the Allure. We has 8730 and Genie was Daniel. We will be asking for half back on the cruise due to the poor genie service. He wasn't responsive nor proactive. I had to hunt him down for help and he gave me several wrong answers that caused missed excursions and other activities. He was supposed to escort us to the excursion and he said no...in the end we missed it. I will post all of the details later. If you have specific questions please reach out.

This is what I found out about it.

 

Royal Caribbean's new Royal Suite Class will feature the Royal Genie. Guests in Star Class will receive this new and complimentary service which offers Royal Genies trained and certified by the British Butler Institute which will serve as a personal assistant to help guests with nearly everything and anything, 24 hours a day.

 Sorry to hear this but I not say that I am surprised by your post. I have not used the service but I have seen over the last several years Royal changing its focus and direction. It seems that Royal is starting to believe that they can be all things to all people. Just build the biggest ships with the most WOW (bad joke) and you do not need to be concerned with smaller details like customer service, staff training, etc.  I hope Royal can see that they need to take a strong look at how they are doing business.  Lets face facts this has not been a good year for Royal even with two great new ships coming online. Other lines would kill just to have one and they have two.... But big ships show all the small staff problems ten fold.

WoW I am very surprised to hear this... There is a guy on Cruise Critic names Rob who currently has Daniel as a Genie and can't stop Raving about his service. He says Daniel is the Best thing Ever! It's so funny to hear two VERY DIFFERENT stories... Could you possibly elaborate on your negative experiences with Daniel... I will be on Harmony is Feb in a 2 bedroom Aqua theater suite which is the room you have and I got this room spec. for Star class perks including Genie service.. So please elaborate if you can. He may have watched a video about butlers but no training. There was not access 24 hours a day. I had trouble reaching him. But everyone kept telling me that it was a new unproven program so maybe it will get better for those after us.

Ate the steak...but trying to get a refund?......

 

I would say more like ordering a prime beef  28 day aged steak and getting a average store cut choice steak. Yes you get the steak but the the steak you paid for. To have a Genie (24 hour private trained butler) means you paid much more for your cruise so you should have that extra service. Dramyk cruise fare was 2 to 3 times a standard cabin, so if he did not get the service I agree ask for 50% back..... because he did not get the steak or service he paid for.

Man I am sorry to hear this, especially since I have the same suite on June 12th. This is the first negative comment so far and as it was mentioned this same Genie got rave reviews on the week prior.

Did he have you use the Loop app or give you a DEC phone? I understand the App was only working on the Genies laptop which obviously want optional.

Please update is on your conversations with RCL and specific details on how Daniel failed to meet expectations. My "Glass is Half Full" hopes you send a message of expectation and he is on his A game in June.

Ok, it's killing me...got to have details of where you had issues. I leave on the 12th as you know in same room and unless they rotate the genies to give them variety, I want to know what to look out for. As I expected there had to be some learning curves and things to work out.

I did hear that the Loop App worked well before the cruise but once onboard and requests became more immediate, it hasn't been great due to the Genie only being able to receive via a lap top. One passenger was given a Dect phone to use and issue resolved.
