Cancellation Refund / Credit Option

Recommended Posts

Thanks to Jo-Ann Hall from the Navigator Facebook group for finding this out, here's what she posted...

"For all of you in the same boat I am (pun intended) who has just had their cruise cancelled, I was actually able to speak to a RCCL guest services agent a little bit ago. They are offering two options:
1. either a full refund or

2. If you take a cruise credit instead of a refund you receive an additional 25% on top of what your cruise was. They aren’t processing it over the phone, he stated that we would all receive emails today or tomorrow and it will give us instructions how to get either one. He said if you do the refund it will take about 30 days to receive it.

Of note, he sounded exhausted, defeated, and apologetic. Please everyone try to be extra nice to these folks. They aren’t at fault and they’re going through the same hell we are."

Currently our cruise is not cancelled as we are sailing from Sydney. If it was cancelled I think we would opt for the full refund over the FCC.

My main reason behind this thinking is if the cruise industry is impacted for an extended period bankruptcy may become a consideration (I think RCI are more than capable of weathering this storm so I think it unlikely)  and if that happens an FCC could become worthless. Better to have the money in the bank at the end of day.

Hmmm....I wonder if both options only apply to those whom cruises fit within the 30-day suspension or is it across the board  for cruises up to the July 31st FCC date???

Per RCCL's Facebook folk, it's just those within the 30-day window. Others before July 31 still qualify for the "Cruise With Confidence" policy announced last week.

I’m really confused, I know it should be easy to understand - but I don’t ! . Everywhere keeps referring the 30 days suspension (including there press release yesterday), yet today it seems to only be 27 days ?? I’ll be flying in the from UK (assuming trump still allows us nearer the time) and i just don’t know where to cancel my flights or not .

Hmmm...it's my understanding those cruisers, outside of the company 30-day self-imposed cancellations, only get the FCC; and, any refund granted, will fall under the "Normal Cancellation  Policy", that is subject to penalties...am I correct on that?

Yes. If you choose the FCC route you get 100% FCC.  If you take the penalty refund instead you'll get the standard percentage refund back to your form of payment.

Cancellations end right now on 4/11 but that could be extended

Doubt anyone knows, but what about those that took the FCC just days ago? No refund or 125% FCC for them?

no it what we are hearing - they have time-stamped the date of cancellation by clients - and are going by this right now
New 30 days cancel started 3/13 so those that cancelled before that fall under the rules before this date.  BUT things are
changing daily too

only problem is depending on how many cruises have been cancelled( this is my second cruise in 2 yrs cancelled) the credit expires for me in oct, which gives you only 6 months to use and some may not have the ability to take a cruise in that time period.  So you lose your credit. Also one of the many trap doors, is the credit is broken up between all persons in the party and cant be used for taxes , are port fees, so basically you never get the full credit and you get pressured into booking a cruise soon.  Word of advice , you are better off getting full refunds due to the fact you may have to cancel the next cruise and you lose your credit if not used in time. I also would be willing to bet you may have to pay full price (with your credit) for any spending on board for overpriced purchases.

Good Afternoon Everyone,

So has anyone else been told this by RCCL or there TA,  taxes and port charges would be credited back to the original form of payment!  I actually called twice to get the confirmation from two different agents.

We were on the Oasis when this shutdown began, and like @RBRSKI where in the midst of a B2B. Other than the onboard announcement and a memo in our room, we have had no official communication about this. I think the RCCL system thinks we are still onboard, our emergency contact is receiving notifications, but we are not. We are, however, still getting the messages about our show reservations that we are missing! ????

I noticed it too on the App! LOL

I would have been starting my third week on the Oasis tomorrow, Oh Well.  And since I returned last Sunday, I have not been able to return to the Fire Department because I was on a cruise outside of Florida.  Two weeks self quarantine at home.  My next day at work should be Thursday, we will see.

I'm thinking that ALL refunds are slowing to a crawl right now; I booked a cruise two weeks ago, and the next day, there was a price drop, so my TA was able to get RC to honor the price drop. I'm still awaiting that price difference to be returned to my payment method.

There it a new posting on the RCCL website, explaining the credits and dates. ALSO, there appears to be a new option to opt-in for a 125% credit for cruise planner purchases. The deadline is 4/8 ... a  least for the first wave. There is a link in the posting.  I guess that means there is a way to turn those 18 DBPs into 22.50 credits ... plus 18% of course! ??

So got an email last night directly from Royal saying my cruise has been canceled.  THey gave me 2 links, one for full refund and one for the FCC.  I clicked on the refund and filled at the form.  It then said I will get a full refund in 30 days.  NOW, i booked through Costco, is Royal going to take of this refund or do I need to call Costco?
