I would like to request help from anyone departing any rcc cruises in the Caribbean in the next 3 weeks to report back to this site and inform others how it went and if you had any issues of passenger illnesses and if any port of calls refused ship passenger disembarkation. This would be so helpful to myself and many others.  Thank you in advance.  I have a cruise coming up in April,  and I intend on doing this for others.  Thank you.

I am leaving on Monday out of Miami and don’t know what to do

What are your concerns?  I am on Anthem out of New Jersey on Sunday, 03/15/2020, my mom had to cancel due to her health status, but other than that we are good.

Thank you all.  Hey, Cruise Queen 44, I will be on the Oasis, on the 5th of April.    Is this cruise the one you are on.. I personally think everything will be ok especially with so many people cancelling, we will much more room, less wait times and probably deals on drinks packages, and massages maybe.

Great idea!  I have been monitoring this website so I can figure out whether I should go on our April 5th cruise out of Miami.

Hi Cruise queen ,, i will be on that cruise (if you are on the Oasis) with you outside anything getting worse,,, I dont think it is as bad as the media reports.  I deal with tons of Doctors and nurses and they agree.  Many people who die from any virus are mainly elderly or health compromised people.  In addition to this I personally think with so many people cancelling there will be so many fewer people on board which will equate to easier maneuverability and waits in lines, and maybe even deals on drink packages , massages and such.  We shall see

Are you on the Oasis?

We are booked in a CL Suite and last week there were absolutely no suites to be had.  Last night I checked again and there are now 3 CL suites available.  Looks like some people canceled and I got concerned.

Canadian advisory

Avoid all cruise ship travel

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) is recommending that Canadians avoid all cruise ship travel due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

Cruise passengers include travellers from around the world who may be arriving from areas with known or unknown spread of COVID-19. The virus can spread quickly on board cruises due to the close contact between passengers. Older people and people with a weakened immune system or underlying medical condition are at a higher risk of developing severe disease.

Recent cruise ship outbreaks of COVID-19 indicate that a large number of individuals onboard can become infected. While the majority of affected passengers may experience mild symptoms, there have been a significant number of cases requiring hospitalization and critical care, and some deaths have been reported.

As the situation evolves, many countries are implementing policies and restrictions in order to contain the outbreak. These restrictions may impact a cruise traveller's:

  • itinerary
  • ability to disembark
  • access to health care

If an outbreak of COVID-19 occurs on your cruise ship:

  • you could be subject to quarantine procedures, on-board ship or in a foreign country
  • the range of consular services available to those on cruise ships, in particular in situations of quarantine, may be significantly restricted by local authorities
  • upon return to Canada, you will be required to remain in mandatory isolation for 14 days at a location determined by the Chief Public Health Officer as per the terms of any applicable emergency orders

The decision on Minimizing the Risk of Exposure to COVID-19 Coronavirus Disease in Canada Order (Persons Not on Government Flight) is effective from February 19 to April 30, 2020.

Canadians who choose to voyage on a cruise ship should also be aware that they may not be offered the opportunity to return to Canada on a government-organized repatriation flight, or could be responsible for the costs of repatriation travel.

Currently on Anthem and have had no issues whatsoever (fingers crossed). They did mandatory temp screening upon initial checkin, but that was very quick and also pretty comforting to know that anyone with a fever would be taken for more screening. Definitely an increased awareness for washing and sanitizing. All passengers I’ve seen have been very compliant and are washing before Windjammer, etc. Really have not noticed any sick folks on the ship! Just seems pretty normal. Stopped in Port Canaveral yesterday and no issue. Today Nassau. Tomorrow CoCo Cay. It’s been a great relaxing trip so far and prayers it continues this way! Happy, healthy and cruising!

We are leaving Saturday the 14th on Adventurer of the sea.  My wife and I are both 63 and not afraid of this corona virus.  I've been monitoring RCC and their sites to see whats going on.  I see they added hand sanitizer stations all over the ship, their going to clean staterooms 2 times a day and clean high traffic common areas every 30 minutes, (that to me sounds like continuous cleaning) of the casino, the shops, the bars, the restaurants, the activity decks, pool etc.  I have our own Cold-Eeze, hand sanitizers and other meds.  Cold-Eeze lozenges to coat the back of the throat, (thought to be where the Corona virus enters the body) and we intend to sanitize our hands after the playing at the casino, the bars, the bathrooms, the shows etc.  Ill have dried up hands but so what - Ill stay well.

I hope someone else leaving this Saturday replies to this but either way, Ill report back after, (and during) the cruise

Happy Sailing!

Just got back from 4 day cruise to Mexico and back on the Brilliance of the Seas.   Not sure anyone will care to hear how it went since no one will be RC cruising for at least the next 30 days.  Didn't seem like anyone was sick on the cruise.  Washed my hands about 49,000 times,  give or take a few.
