I wonder how it would work with a comped cruise from their casino in terms of FCC?  Any insight @WAAAYTOOO

Yea I'm trying to find out about this too. I have a JS booked in April, probably the last comped JS I will get based on my play. Hate to lose it since it's the sailing that will help me reach Diamond finally. It'll be great if I can just change it to the same sailing in like September or October (the price is similar)

Have two weeks to go. Wife had one of her friends call and state that her husband changed his mind today as they were about to board and walked away from the pier. Do not think they will get anything for not going but he did not care. At least we have a time frame to be able to make a change. If we do not go it will be a shame. Royal upgraded us without asking from an Ocean View to a Spacious Balcony. The ship went from totally sold out to everything open. Am hoping we go with fewer folks so I can finally get a lounger by the pool.

This policy began today, my wife and I are scheduled to go on a cruise tomorrow.  So we are in the 48 hour window that doesn't allow us to cancel (she's been put on hold for hours with Royal Caribbean)  especially concerning when she is already sick (along with being a senior, diabetic, and has asthma!) They are telling her to go to the cruise terminal whether she's sick or not (maybe infect everyone else) and have the cruise people examine her.  And we didn't want a refund, we just wanted a credit for a future cruise!!   Maybe Twitter this will get their attention.  How can these cruise terminals be safe if this is their policy???

this is happening to us right now 12:30 pm on Friday, March 6th....

Talk about overreacting to something that is nothing to worry about...this coronavirus wont change peoples vacation plans, its overblown, more ppl die from the flu..blah blah blah.......nothing to see here folks..:34_rolling_eyes:

Yeah right.....if it WASNT a big deal or concern do you think Royal would be doing this......not a chance in hell.

I stick with what I said awhile ago and many here belittled my argument..this is a MUCH bigger deal than the flu and will have a huge impact on the cruise industry..both in the short term and I am guessing for the foreseeable future.

And no, people losing vacation plans, companies losing money and ppl dying are NOT things we should be taking lightly, joking about and criticising those who took it more serious from the beginning....imho

I would argue that they are doing this for public relations reasons.  If they thought it was a major concern they would just cancel the sailings like they did in China but they are not. Now it could reach that point but we are not there yet.

So I called Club Royale and canceled my comped 4 nighter on the Enchantment on April. Will be refunded tax+port fees + $886 FCC, kinda low since the room is a JS. But they did say we can apply the FCC with future comps to pay for price difference in upgrades. Also I wonder since the comps are being refunded as FCC, whats there to stop people from just randomly booking every offer they got until July (even if they have no intention of going) and then cancelling on purpose just to rack up on the FCC.

Seems like a nice thing to do considering the state of affairs.

This is fantastic.  We are supposed to cruise on May 10 in a 2 bedroom ATS with 5 adults.  My husband is 62 with serious lung issues and diabetes - we were waiting to see how things evolve before making our go/ no go decision.   This has taken all the worry away for the next 6 weeks!  Thank you RCCL!

Thanks for this information.  Pretty nice solution, really.  Nice to hear that they will allow the FCC to be combined with other casino discounts/comps.

Geeze, it sounds like Royal does know their own brand new policy!  How are you making out?  Please let us know.  Thanks.

This is really good of Royal Caribbean. It must be really tough for them as it is for lots of businesses but this is a sign of a company with great values.  We have a May trip from Italy booked and its really nice to have the option if we need it. It reduces the worry helps to plan and as we are taking kids while I'm not personally to worried I but dont really want to put them in a bad situation.  Im more than happy for them to hold the cash in the meantime as we will totally be back if we don't go this time around.  Now just need Emirates to come to the party.

Not amazed or surprised but maybe an astute move by RC, in all likelihood lots more sailings will be cancelled and rather than full refunds they have managed to keep your money in their account.

Agree just good publicity  and on the surface it appears a good thing to offer, but the greatest beneficiary is themselves.

Not really as you can hold out till 2 days to go without saying anything.  Most cruises if they will be cancelled will be much earlier so best of both worlds.

So, if someone with a non-refundable deposit cancels after final payment, do they get the deposit back as part of the FCC? I know they do if they're outside of final payment, but RCCL didn't seem to address the situation after final payment (like cruises coming up in May, etc.). I know that normally, the deposit wouldn't be refunded under any circumstance inside of 90 days.

I'm pondering doing this both to ease other people's minds and to take a new, later cruise that's slightly longer with an expanded itinerary.

We have a sailing coming up in May. I was on hold for 3 hours before I got to somebody to help. I was hoping to cancel and rebook the same at the new lower rate. They wouldn't let me do it. They said I could cancel and wait a week to get the cert and then rebook. To answer your question though,  the cert would have been for the full amount.

We are cruising April 19 from san juan with wife and kids. It's our first cruise. We are arriving in San Juan the 13 and took a condo. We are supposed to fly back the 26. Now if no cruise we are screwed over for the second week there. Insurance won't cover if you decide to cancel your cruise. The insurance would help if the company decided to cancel. But question is when would they take this decision. It's doesn't gives us plenty of time to do plan b.... This situation sucks especially when I booked back in August. Don't have a clue what to do.

Totally sympathise with this situation as customers they take none of this into account regarding parking arrangements, ordering travel money etc.

Waiting in limbo is not nice puts a proper dampener on a holiday you may have been very excited about for a long time.

The virus is over hyped and cruise lines are responding to the hysteria. We plan on going on our April cruise and think the deal they are offering of a FCC is not a good deal at all for us! We booked our cruise a little over 2 years out and got a great deal on a OS. I just priced the same itinerary closest I found would be on smaller ship in February instead of April and DOUBLE the price for same cabin!  We’d lose our Owners Suite in a Radiance class and only get a balcony on a Vision class! ?  Plus we’d lose the $500 we paid and not used for Royal Caribbean Insurance!

Does anyone know if the FCC can be applied to one of my upcoming already booked cruises? I have 2 more in addition to my May cruise and can’t add another one due to vacation time constraints.

Yes, you can take your FCC and apply it to any cruise that you already have a deposit on.

Can you split it? The cruise we have this April we booked a suite on an 11 day cruise. I have an inside booked next November & a panoramic window booked Oct 21. I could pay off both future cruises and still have a lot of money left.

I think you can...but that's definitely a TA question.  I wanna say I read @twangster having success doing this before but not 100% sure.

You have to keep in mind the FCC is only for the value of the cruise fare and port fees get refunded the way you paid them.  Also the FCC is issued to each individual on a booking based on what their fare was, taking into account any discounts.  So if you have different folks in your cabin for future cruises it jumbles things up a bit.

Typically FCC can be used towards two different cruises but there are conditions.

First of all FCC can only be applied towards cruise fare, not port fees, taxes, prepaid gratuity etc.  A cruise might cost you $3,600 but maybe $600 is taxes and port fees.  The $600 can't be paid using FCC (or whatever your fees and taxes are).

Secondly FCC will be issued on a per person basis.  When issued it's in that person's name and no one else can use it.  If I pay for my brother to join me and he pays nothing when FCC is issued I get some in my name and he will get a portion in his name that I can't use even if I paid for the original cruise.  Only if we have another cruise together can we use the full amount.  If he sails by himself on a future cruise he will have FCC he can apply to that cruise even though I paid for the original cruise.

Thirdly the first cruise that FCC was applied towards has to be completed before the residual or left over FCC will be re-issued and available for application towards another cruise.

FCC rules are very inconsistent.  Just because I've had success splitting an FCC means little going forward.  Like lightning, never the same twice.  I don't know how many splits you can do.  YMMV.

Hey cruisees!

wanted to share our experience we had with calling RCCL. First of all, we will never book without a travel agent again as it was way too long and painful. I called last night waited about 45 minutes got connected to an agent but it was such a broken connection that I had to end the call. I was calling because when I looked on the website our sailing in May was $230 cheaper than what we paid for. It was past our final payment date and we knew that it would probably be challenging to try to get some kind of onboard credit or any cash back but we wanted to talk to someone to see what they could do as we had two rooms booked, one being for our wedding anniversary and one being for our in-laws first cruise. We called again this morning and within 2.5 hours (due to hold waits) we got quite a deal! We originally booked and paid for an interior cabin and they upgraded us to an ocean view balcony for $279 for one and a free balcony for the other room we paid for. It was a long and grueling process but I have to say it was worth it. Again I would definitely never do this again without a travel agent. For those of you trying to get some money back since Royal Caribbean is dropping prices it is worth staying on the line if you have the time as they are more than accommodating to try to work it out. Don’t give up! #LoyalToRoyal

Just thought I'd share: I just got off the phone with RCCL over a different matter, and I happened to ask the agent about this program; they said to expect the FCC to take 3-4 weeks, and of course, if you booked with a travel agent, you have to undertake the process through your agency. I'm sure that last part goes without saying, but I'd hate for anybody to wait on hold for 45 minutes or more to be told you have to call someone else! ?
