dodgestang
I've got one of those questions I hate to ask....but I'm really on the ropes. Don't flame me ;). I've never sailed Oasis before, I booked last night....I booked the Owners Panoramic 1 bedroom (1701) which is a relatively new class room as I understand it. It is my wife and two kids (14 and almost 12 at time of sailing) who will be with me. Here's the question...when I book....I start on a discount cruise website to find the ship, itinerary, and room I want, get the price from there and then call the casino for actual booking....I do this because 1. The website I use it vastly superior/easier to use to find what I am looking for that using Royal's booking site and 2. I get casino comps that I am often applying (although this time I have not applied any comps yet and will reprice it in April 2021 when I have some I reviewed again today and I see the Royal Loft is actually available. When I was looking yesterday it did not show as available and when I called and booked with the casino I had just said I wanted 1701. Has anyone here sailed in either the panoramic one bedroom or the royal and can give me some feedback about your experience? With the Royal half the balcony overlooks the courts and in videos sounds like it has a lot of music noise from activities....what about the side balcony does that insulate it a bit? The owners panoramic has only a side balcony that is a little small, but with a hot tub (that we will use) but seems to also slightly less private than other balconies we have used on other ships. I suppose another way to get at this is....if you have your choice between these two...which one would you pick?
Lovetocruise2002
Have you watched the YouTube videos of the OP? While the room is beautiful, that room would not be my first choice if I had my two kids with me. One reason being like you mentioned, the balcony is small and narrow. Also, I feel that both the GP and the OP have odd master bathroom configurations. Not a whole lot of privacy. Yes, there is a second bath in both suites but still, it's strange. I most definitely would choose the Royal Loft any day over the OP, if the price was not an issue. dodgestang
Yes I've watched the videos....I did notice the lack of a toilet door...but figured the bedroom has a door...... In the OP you can lay in bed and watch/wake up to see the ocean In the RLS you can lay in bed and wake up so see the stacks, courts, and water visible off behind them all And on edit.....after a follow-up phone call there is a $15k price difference between the two....so the decision may be easier than I thought. WAAAYTOOO
The Panoramic Suites (Grand and Owner’s) on Oasis and Allure are original builds. They have been on these ships from the beginning. Starting with a Harmony, they removed these 2 suites to make room for the Coastal Kitchen kitchen. The “new” SC suites are the Ultimate Panoramic Suites which were added last fall. They are far forward (above the bridge) and have no balcony at all. I stayed in the Grand Panoramic Suite on Oasis in a December. I loved this suite. Yes, the balcony is very small. That is only downside of this suite, IMO. We loved that it had no stairs as all of the other S.C. suites (excepting the ATS) do. We have the Owner’s Panoramic booked (Oasis) for Dec 6, 2020, Jan 9-16, 2022 and Jan 16-23, 2022. I have never even been in the Royal Loft Suite but I’m certain that it would be incredible. I would avoid it due to the stairs but if stairs aren’t an issue for you, I would say get it if you can ! Check out the very recent Rags1 live blog. As far as privacy goes, it is not an issue, IMO. I wouldn’t give that another thought. We also book all of our SC cruises through the casino. The casino discount isn’t nearly as it used to be but it still beats paying full price ! Ogilthorpe, LifesEz and dodgestang 2

They were built in the space previously occupied by the Pinnacle Lounge and the Chapel. We sailed 3 times in the Star Lofts, 1718 twice and 1720 once. The Pinnacle Lounge mentioned had nothing to do with today's Crown and Anchor status. It was open to everyone. Area where the Suite Lounge and Coastal Kitchen were added was previously the Viking Crown. WAAAYTOOO and Ogilthorpe 1

What was the noise level (if any at all) of people on outside lower decks when you were on the little balcony And....weird question I know....the bedroom has a door I can see that, but is that a glass wall above it....or is it open air between the two rooms. The noise issues had nothing to do with people outside....it was due to a blaring sound system (newly installed during the amplification) on the pool deck. It was horrific but they finally removed one or more of the [new] speakers and it reduced the noise to an acceptable din. What I would like to know is whether or not that speaker(s) has been permanently removed or whether they put it back after our cruise. The door on the bedroom is glass but it does not go all the way to the ceiling. There is an open space above that door. We never closed the door the whole week. Seems like you can't get away from noisy pool deck anywhere on an Oasis....all the videos I see of RLS appear to have the same issue as soon as they go outside....so not a deciding factor on the room. The open air design for the bedroom is certain something to consider since we will be traveling with young kids......I suppose it isn't that much different than the curtains for privacy in the other lofts. All in all still looking forward to it. Ogilthorpe and WAAAYTOOO 1
WAAAYTOOO
I don’t think privacy would be issues. While the door is glass, it is frosted so it is opaque. The opening at the top isn’t really any worse, as you pointed out, than a privacy curtain.
