Phone to TV cord

Has anyone had any luck with hooking an iPhone or tablet to a tv, with an hdmi cord?  We’re looking to download a bunch of movies, and it would be great to watch them on a big screen. If so what kind of cord worked, specifically? What kind of tv is on the adventure of the seas? Do the TVs have a normal and accessible hdmi port?
Don’t worry, we do plan to spend most of our time enjoying the ports and the ship:)

thanks!!

This topic comes up from time to time and the best answer is bring more equipment than you think you need but it still might not work.  It isn't even consistent on the same ship because not all rooms have the exact same setup.  (Either because they are slowly upgrading the ship or maybe the TV in that room died and they reinstalled a newer model, etc.)

The biggest issue isn't even whether you can physically plug something into the HDMI port.  It's whether you can actually switch inputs on the TV to use that HDMI port.  The remotes Royal provides do not have an input switch button.  Some people bring a universal remote and after programming it have successfully gotten the TV to switch inputs, others have found the TVs are locked to the main input from the ship.

universal remote and goggle are you salvation, even if the TV has been locked {most big hotel chains do this in the UK} - there is a unlock code for most TV on the market. I've never failed to unlock one. {The only problem you will have is getting online to find the right code - so best to do when in port unless you buy the wifi package.

Google cast {relatively cheap} is a better way than a cable to connect your device as you can have you device on you lap to control the play back.
