zjennk
We are going on the Ovation of the Seas in June to Alaska. We would like to try Skagway on our own and go hiking. Does anyone know how far it is from the cruise port to the Yakutania Point? I did google it but it didn't look that far. It says 1 hour roundtrip but I am not sure how long it takes to get there from the cruise port. Has anyone ever walked there? Thanks
twangster
1 hour round trip seems light to me. It's 30 to 45 minutes one way to the bridge across the river. Check out the National Park Service website for details about hiking in the area. https://www.nps.gov/klgo/index.htm Ogilthorpe and Baked Alaska
twangster
I found a map that I picked up during my last visit. It seems there is a footbridge across the Skagway River. See the map and in the upper left instructions for Yakutania Point Area Trails. In PDF format if that is hard to read: Skagway Trails 1.pdf
