dodgestang
CK discussion Open door and walk in - or - wait for Maître D' to come back from seating previous people and have them escort you inside. Reason I ask....and I may have had this discussion before...I don't know anymore...I'm getting old. I always wait. Didn't matter breakfast or dinner....I waited till the maitre D came out and then we followed her in and she sat us down. Last time out on Anthem, a couple times in the AM while waiting a few folks would rather rudely push right past us and go in....and then after the Maitre D had sat us....she would have to go find where they were and give them menus and stuff. What am I supposed to be doing here? Walking in an seating myself? or waiting?
mac66
Waiting is good manners. Pushing past someone is rude. USCG Teacher, JBC1, MikeK and 3 others 4
BunnyHutt
I haven’t dined in (or been on a ship with) CK, but based on what you’ve described, common sense would be to wait to be seated... unless there is signage indicating otherwise. dodgestang
Just the standard 'Suite guests only' signs.....no sign one way or the other in terms of 'wait' or 'seat yourself'
Ampurp85
As a part time waitress proper etiquette would be to wait. I mean even if you know the menu like the back of your hand...wait how did i get this burn?....sorry as I was saying. The person serving you might not notice. I personally think it is rude. This is not a place were you place an order and then find seats. Ogilthorpe
twangster
We need to differentiate between Oasis class and Quantum class. On Oasis you need a full suite card to open the door to reach the host/hostess stand to check in. On Quantum class the host/hostess stand is outside of the CK. In both cases you should wait to be escorted to a seat. They know the waitstaff working with you and will place you accordingly. It is inappropriate to walk in and grab a seat at some table. WAAAYTOOO
Who would think it’s ok to push past the people who are obviously waiting to be seated ? Jill
We were invited to CK by a friend who was Director of Hotels on Oasis. Even an Officer waits to be seated. Ogilthorpe, WAAAYTOOO, KristiZ and 2 others 4

mworkman
We always waited, however manners seam to be disappearing from society now days. Case in point, we were in the d lounge on Adventure and watched a guy wear pajama bottoms twice that week during the 4:30-8:00 cocktail hours. I have never and will never visit CK..so I cant speak to that venue However..ASSUMING that because someone is standing there waiting...that means that what your supposed to do., doesn't make sense either. While I wouldn't push anyone out of the way or if a line up is clearly marked I would prob ask about it...but if you're just standing around with no clear or obvious direction.....I wouldn't do the same......its not monkey see, monkey do...or sheep following sheep........obviously after a visit or two you would then know firsthand what the proper procedure is... Can't Royal afford to put a sign there to clear up any confusion?! Baked Alaska
DJsMrs
Isn’t it basic common sense that when you go to a restaurant you wait to be seated? Short of a fast food place I can’t remember the last time I was at a “seat yourself” restaurant. Especially if you look around and see that menus aren’t on the table. It feels sometimes like people are so worried about not getting the best table or having to wait 2 or 3 minutes for something means they’ve been slighted in some way. Everyone needs to chill out. The world won’t end. The ship isn’t going to run out of food. Wait a couple minutes. Talk to some people. Enjoy the view. Take a breath - you’re on vacation!!! And if you’re in that much of a hurry - then that’s your issue. Late for a show? Plan your day better. Plans didn’t go accordingly? Maybe modify dinner expectations. Your emergency isn’t someone else’s responsibility. FroggyFlo
I love CK! The food is gorgeous, the place pretty and the staff is so friendly! However, some guests unfortunately are rude and/or with bad manners. Some eat "dirtily" (? not sure this word does in fact exist?) with elbows on the table. Tuxedo is not necessary though, unless you like it. Hi JohnUK, I like your queue/line precision. As a French being taught Cambridge English, I had some hard time "relearning" in the US… Maybe good manners are the French obsession?
