Delayed cruise documents?

In the past, I have expected cruise documents to be available on day 49 prior to the cruise (a part of our pre-cruise "ritual" is to print luggage tags at that point ...hoping to have to reprint after a successful Royalup!).  We have an upcoming B2B for which the docs were not available at day 49 for the 3/8 Oasis sailing.  Today was day 49 for the second week of the B2B and the documents arrived as anticipated.  I checked with RCI but received ambiguous answers. Has anyone experienced this before? Does the first week of a B2B create a unique situation? Is my sample set too limited? Do I simply need to wait and book more cruises? ?

It appears that I am good company! I will remain optimistic and assume this is result of a pending royalup! ?

But we are opposite of you. You got yours today for the second legs right? We did not. ??‍♀️ This is the first time that we have not received it at 49 days out.

Could we assume that the $18 Drink package intern was reassigned to issuing luggage tags on day 49?? ??

We had a great deal of trouble with the cruise docs for our upcoming Anthem cruise (7 Feb).  After numerous contacts with Michelle, it seems that Royal was showing a balance due on the account. Of course there was not....this cruise had been paid off since last spring (casino-reduced cruises must be paid in full when booked). But this snafu caused 2 lengthy delays in getting our docs.  They said they had fixed the problem, but had not, and then said they had fixed it AGAIN but had not.  Finally got them.

One more example of why a good TA is worth their weight in gold.

I recommend that if you have experienced more than 5 days’ delay (beyond 49 days) then you probably need to look into it.

I do not know if there is any connection, but I booked through a travel agent and she said they get the info about 30 days out and then they send me the edocs and luggage tags.. So maybe since it was booked through a travel agent, there is a delay?? I dont know  ?

I use an agent almost every time and there is usually not a delay.

Luggage tags are often not available until 30 days.  Sometimes 40 days but 30 days is a safe answer for your TA to provide.

Why Royal sometimes doesn't make them available until 30 days is unknown but in truth I don't care because it's still 30 days away at that point so it's hardly something I concern myself with.

When I inquired, I was first told that they had attempted but failed to send them so they verified my email address and said they would try again.  Later in the call, I was told that there was no issue, it can be as late as a week before sailing.  The inconsistency is real!

For us, I know it cannot be the email address because they just sent me my SC pre-cruise questionnaire.  So I got that, but no cruise docs.  Took up @WAAAYTOOO's advice and sent a quick message to my TA so they can figure it out.  Not too worried though.  I usually don't print my stuff until about two weeks before sailing.

While the timing of their availability may not be any different, I'm not sure why anyone would need them emailed to them when you can just access and print them directly off of the website. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding what people are waiting for emails for.

For myself, I was referring to when I log into my account, they are not there.  I never get emails lol.

You are correct that the email is only  a nice reminder. For me, neither the tags nor the edocs are available on the site. Everything else is there. Another IT mystery ?

  • 2 weeks later...

An update: I called today and took a different approach. Rather than go through reservations, I took a path of web assistance, my documents showed up immediately.  Working with your travel agent is still the best approach, but for the DYIers out there, if you have a situation similar to what I experienced this approach could solve the eDocs issue.
