happy Friday RC blog!

i want to locate the email for the cruise director of oasis.

in the end of April my company is doing an employee cruise. i want to create a supplemental cruise compass for my group. pick a few times and places for them to all meet up. in the past I've either downloaded old compass' from your site or had RC supply past compass' that i can use to schedule my stuff around. the issue this time is my cruise is the first 3 day on oasis. there are no past compass'...i know I'm trying to plan my cruise....I'm certain the oasis' cruise director is doing the same. I've contacted RC corporate and I'm not getting the information i need. i was thinking that reaching out directly to the cruise directors office would be a better choice.  does anyone here any any tips on how to acquire this information?

big thanks in advance for an help

Phil

no one has any idea about this? what about the name of the cruise director?

Yeah there's really no way to coordinate something of this nature this far in advance.  I don't even think the entertainment schedule is open for that 3-night sailing yet.

Even with this blog's group cruise in December there were last minute changes..and that was WITH coordinating with the groups coordinator.  The groups coordinator is the one who is going to know if certain public venues are going to be reserved at certain times for other groups or special events as they are the ones who have to book the venues and times.  They are the ones you go through if you want to reserve a venue or pay for food and drinks service.

We had activities that were coordinated through Royal Caribbean groups coordinator where our TA reserved an entire lounge and paid for food and drinks staff.  We booked a private ice skating session for the group.  Then we also had other group activities where we just all showed up in the same place at the same time as a group (including a bar crawl).  Our group had 90 people in it.

this is generally what i have in mind. i'm expecting 30 cabins. about 60 people. i dont need a reserved room or venue. i was thinking more like a bar meetup before dinner. or a late night bar or club meetup. last year, i picked a few activities during the day like a mini golf time or rock wall. i cant get the groups department to supply any specifics on available activities or even a list of venues. i need an idea of what they have scheduled, to work my stuff around theirs.

Since you only have 3 days, your best bet is to schedule all these activities on a sea day.  Then check out the cruise compasses from any Oasis sailing and check out the times that those activities are open on the sea days and you should get a general feel for when they are open.  You'll see most of the "special" activity times will be during odd times so you won't have to worry about it not being available when you want to plan for.  By "special" activities I mean when they reserve the activities for the kids or teens group..again, they usually do that in the early opening hours or overlapping with dinner times as not to take away from the general population's usage.  Just one Compass that I pulled has the mini golf course open 8a-11p both sea days..so I would imagine those are the typical hours.

3-day cruises are an anomaly for Oasis.  They don't happen often and so they have to figure out how to juggle all activity and entertainment aspects of an Oasis-class ship to fit into 3 days.  Planning group stuff around this is hard because everyone wants to get the most that they can out of their 3 days, so there's always going to be a show or something that they are missing out on.

Having been on Oasis recently, I can tell you there is a ton of places to meet up with folks.  Most of the bars are always open at logical times, for example some pool bars close for evenings and inside bars sometimes don't open until the afternoon.  But you can always count on the Schooner Bar, Boleros or the Pub to be open for good places to plan to meet up with folks for evening pre-dinner drinks.  All three of those have seating and bars.  The Bionic Bar is a fun place to meet up too and you won't have to contend with any other activities going on in there ever.

The Music Hall will have evening entertainment and is the venue that I see get closed off for private events the most, but it is probably the biggest space for your group to congregate.  The only thing is that if there's no music going on the bar won't be open.

An example is you could be generic with your own itinerary and simply state on the first sea day be at the carousel when it opens for a group ride.  Then they can all look at the Cruise Compass and see when it opens to be down there.  You could also organize a late night slot pull any night as you know the casino will be open.  You can pick a spot on one of the open decks and tell everyone to meet there for sailaway..there are several bars around the pool deck area to pick from for that..or you can meet up by the Abyss slide entrance on the sports deck which is between Flowriders and a good place to watch sailaway from.

If you need a complete list of venues, just go down the deck plans..everything is named on there.  You'll notice from Cruise Compasses that activities are held during the daytime at the indoor venues (trivias and such) but you'll see the indoor activities fade away as the first dinner time approaches.
