Neesa
@Matt We are traveling with friends and their son wants to join us on a "Resort for a day" excursion I booked. Will he be allowed off of the ship with us? Can we bring him back on with us? We are in separate cabins and are not related thus our names are also different, he will be 14 at time of sailing. Thanks everyone (his parents will be doing an adult excursion elsewhere)
twangster
On my current cruise I saw a minor being stopped when attempting to get off without his parents who had left right before him. Security actually ran off to stop the parents holding the minor on the ship. In your case why don't your friends (or one of them) get off with their child, hand him off to you and immediately reboard the ship? Can you make the timing work so you get off at the same time? Neesa
@twangster I definitely considered your option, and then we would meet them at agreed location to board again. I agree with the security for minors and fully support it for obvious reasons. I was just considering if they had a waiver or something to that nature. You are correct though we may in fact do just what you suggested, even with excursion times we will adjust ourselves to make it work. Thank you so much for responding! Hope your sailing was incredible!
Matt
I think @twangster's strategy is the safest course of action. Neesa
Neesa
@twangster @Matt, do you think getting back on the ship after our excursion he would be allowed to re board with us? We will make sure he has his set sail pass, OR do we need to get the parent to meet us for the minor to embark again?
twangster
I have no direct experience with getting back on the ship. I would think they would let a passenger back on. I can't see them forcing a guest to stand on the shore waiting for the parents to appear. However I've never tried.
uniongodess
Parents are needed again. My niece couldn’t board the ship without my sil or bil. She was 17 staying at adjacent cabin with her sister. Neesa and WAAAYTOOO

Mike P
We are bringing my daughters friend with us next month who is 16. I will have the proper RCCL form signed and notarized obviously so she can board with us. I assume I won't have any issues getting off at the ports? MikeK
I would still get a notarized statement from the parents stating the child can get off or on the ship with you. It is always good to have a backup (plan B) Neesa and Mike P
