GizaGaza
The boss lady and I are cruise virgins... first cruise in May of this year (well almost). We've seen some discussion and a couple videos of people having lunch IN chops on embarkation day when in a GS or above, not the key deal. How does one go about doing such a thing? Sorry for the probably very newbie question.
WAAAYTOOO
No worries. All questions are welcome. Unfortunately, the only meal of the day that is complimentary in Chops as a result of being in a full suite, is breakfast. If you want to eat at Chops on embarkation day, and you do not have The Key, you can ask your Concierge to make reservations for you and pay full price, which would be (assuming it is the same price as it’s showing for my Sept 2020 cruise on LoS) $21.99 + 18% gratuity per person. It’s a nice way to enjoy lunch onboard on embarkation day. djm619
GizaGaza
@WAAAYTOOO Gotcha, if we get the UDP, is it included as part of that? Which of course then brings up the question if the UDP is worth it on LOS with only 3 specialty restaurants, thoughts?

Whether it’s worth it or not is a subjective question. We always get the UDP b/c we no longer enjoy the MDR but I will be the first to admit that with just 3 specialty restaurants, it can get repetitive. We love the full service Sabor so we really enjoy the UDP on Liberty. djm619

You’ll get a welcome email from the suite concierge about a week to 10 days before the cruise ....... if you do purchase the UDP, reply to that email with the dates and times (lunch or dinner) that you’d like to eat at the included restaurants and ask them to make all your reservations for you. You’ll get a confirmation of your reservations from them before you cruise. That’s one of the perks of staying in a grand suite or better. Also, there’s more than enough things on the menu at each restaurant to not feel like you’re eating repetitive. We much prefer the specialty restaurants over the MDR.
