Ellisfamily- uk Posted March 28, 2016 Report Posted March 28, 2016 i have been trying to make restaurant reservations for Ovation but there is no availability any night in our chosen restaurants . Does that mean it is completely full or do they hold some places back for when you get on the ship? I am travelling with my in-laws, first time cruisers celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary and are not adventurous with meals. We don't want to eat all meals in the Windjammer or pay for specialty restaurants. My husband and I have taken 2 RCI cruises and raved about the food and main dining room experience only to find it now completely different on this cruise. Quote
DocLC Posted March 28, 2016 Report Posted March 28, 2016 The main dining rooms are still an option for you; you will not be forced or required to eat your main meals in the Windjammer. And unless you opted for Dynamic Dining, you'll be assigned a dining rotation. Regardless, though, the do hold back many reservations, so you shouldn't have any problems making them onboard. I'd recommend making that one of your first stops onboard, however. Quote
Matt Posted March 28, 2016 Report Posted March 28, 2016 Which restaurants are you trying for? In my experience, even when a restaurant is "sold out" there can be walk-up availability, especially right when it opens up for dinner. YMMV Quote
Ellisfamily- uk Posted March 28, 2016 Author Report Posted March 28, 2016 Thanks for the advice. we were told that the ship offers only dynamic dining when we booked! we would like to eat at either the Grand restaurant or the American Icon. we are really looking forward to it, A brand new ship ! Maybe even its maiden voyage ! Quote

Maybe even its maiden voyage ! You should be able to eat at the Grand almost every night if you wanted. Because it is a extra cost restaurant and at the higher end I do not see it being full. It looks like Dynamic Dining is about as successful as the maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic. If you don't get what you want you should make your views known, you paid for the trip with meals, Royals problems with the program are on Royal. EmersonNZ 1 Quote
WAAAYTOOO Posted March 29, 2016 Report Posted March 29, 2016 Is the Grande a specialty restaurant ? I think is complimentary, isn't it ? I haven't been on a Q class where they have the 3 separate DD venues but I thought all of those were complimentary. It's just a "dress-up" option, I think. Quote

Yes you are right, misread Grand for Wonderland. Quote
