Vietnam Visa on Arrival

Hi all,

I'm sailing on the 9th of January 2020 from Singapore on Quantum of the Seas, and have been informed by Royal that we will be eligible for a Visa on Arrival (VOA) for our stop in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Interestingly, we have been asked to bring "4 full-color Passport photos, so the onboard team can process your application". I've never heard of this before and can't see anything online about this requirement. Has anyone been in this situation with a past cruise, and if so did you bring the photos? What was the outcome of such? Were they necessary?

Thanks everyone in advance,

Bryce

I have done two years ago  Voyager of The Seas Hong Kong to Singapore stopping in Vietnam, All the people got temp Visa that was done by RCL on board , you just had to bring a copy of the passport. I wanted to be on the safe side and done the Visa at the Embassy as the information from Royal was not that clear (and I am not a US citizen).

I know that Vietnam is changing the requirements from time to time so if RCL asked you I think you should bring the Visa photos (in the worse case scenario you wasted few dollars.

By the way , as part of the boarding process your passport will be collected by RCL and returned at the end of the cruise, you will get some temp document for visiting Vietnam.
