You can catch the soda package regularly on sale before the cruise for 8.99 or 9.99/day which makes it worthwhile..plus you get a souvenir cup to keep. Not only bc of the cup, but they will not accept cash on the ship as a form of payment. That means everyday you will need to watch what is being billed to your cabin. The other thing is since it is a coke free style machine you can get other beverages that you can't get at the bar...i.e. powerade, flavored Dasani water, diet ginger ale, etc. Without the souvenir cup, you cannot use the free style machine and will wait in line at the bars for that soda, which is basically coke, diet coke, ginger ale, sprite.
