Casino Royale Players Club

Recommended Posts

How do you know that you are officially in the club? I talked with CR rep on phone and was told when you meet the criteria then the host will invite you and give you papers to sign. On my last cruise (3/3 - 3/7) I was offered an owners suite at 50% off and given a small amount of free play in the casino. When I arrived the host stuck a "casino VIP" sticker on my card and proceeded to

hand me a stack of free drink coupons. I thought I was in!!!! As it turns out, I'm not..... The CR rep on phone informed me that my cruise offer for BOTS was just an offer to get me into the casino in hopes of qualifying for the program. This is no bueno because while on board we booked Harmony in a crown loft suite and I figured I would get a special casino rate! Has anyone else had issues with this convoluted program? I bet 100 spin roulette for at least 6 hours, cycled win/loss $5k+ in slots and played $100+ hand blackjack for 3 hours. It seems as if the dealer & pit boss recorded none of my play otherwise it sounds like I would have been invited in.

First of all, Tony...don't worry too much YET.

This is FAR too early for the casino host, from the ship, to have gotten his/her referrals back to the mother ship at Club Royale, so whomever you spoke with should have realized this and NEVER ever told you that you weren't "invited" to join.  It's normally at least 1 week, often 2 weeks before CR knows anything about your rebates, offers, whatever...that were generated on your last sailing.  For example, my information had not yet made it back to CR from my 21-28 Feb. sailing on the Allure when I called yesterday....so they (CS at CR) have unnecessarily alarmed you when they could have just as easily told you that the results weren't in yet.  That's a fact, at this point.

My recommendation is to wait another week or so and call CR back again.  I would be VERY surprised if they went to all that trouble and then did not invite you to join.  I have never ever heard of that happening before.  I'm sorry that the dolt you spoke with said that it was just an enticement to come into the casino.  That's rubbish.

I cannot imagine that you will not be enrolled in the Program with the play that you described.  Trust me, others (including myself) have been enrolled with far less.

So,,,please ignore that bogus information that you were given during that first call.  Of course, I cannot PREDICT that you WILL be enrolled, but I certainly can say that it is, at this point, MUCH too early for them to say that you have NOT been.

Marc/Stephanie....am I wrong ?

WAAAYTOO thanks for the info. Where she tripped me up was in stating that the host would have had me sign papers to enroll while I was in the casino had they felt I was entitled to join. She also said that this new program for which she couldn't divulge details would begin soon and would be a tiered program. Not sure what to think other than hope when I call back that they can enroll me in the club. Once in, do they offer discounts on every cruise? For example my Harmony cruise is booked for Thanksgiving 2017 (since my wife is preggo and will give birth this year we have to push out date) would I have to wait until closer to 11/17 or would they apply casino discount now?

Actually, I'm not sure this isn't the case. My cruising friend (Bryan), who's not a Club Royale member, received several offers over a couple months for comped cruises (inside cabin) from Club Royale after our cruise last March while I, a Club Royale member, was merely getting a few cruises at 25% off.

I did ask Club Royale about that at one point and I was told that they were indeed trying to entice new members.

Ok...I could be wrong then...but if they're trying to entice new members then why would they ignore a seemingly qualified candidate who was TRYing to get in ?

Tony, as for signing paperwork, Dan tells me that we did have to fill out, and sign, an info form....which I had forgotten about. So that might be a bigger clue than I had given it credit for being.

I still say that enough time has not elapsed and you should try again in 10 days or so.

To answer your question about whether or not every cruise qualifies for a CR discount, the answer is no....they always have to check to determine CR prices and occasionally a cruise will not have Club pricing at all. ...but I have only had a very few cruises that didn't have a CR discount price. As I recall, the original Harmony bookings I made did not have any discount prices but later they did....I got a nice CR on my Harmony cruise next Feb.

...and sometimes- very rarely - the CR price is not the best price. That was the case with the Empress cruise we booked for April 11. It turns out the special Crown & Anchor pricing was better than the CR price. That's the only time that's happened to me, though.

So, it's not a guarantee but it's a pretty safe bet that you will get a good discount on your room as a CR member...unless they completely screw it all up with the new program.

The Rep you spoke with was correct about the new program. It will be tiered, but, as you suggest, it is shrouded in secrecy and it is unclear exactly when it will be rolled out.

So, hang in there. I still think there has been a blunder somewhere on their side.

Marc, tell Bryan Dan and I say, "HI".

When I got asked to join Club Royale the host did infact have me sign a bunch of papers. However, Tony I think you gamble much more than I do so i have no idea how you weren't asked to join. There must be some mistake. I would give it another week and wait then call Club Royale back and state your case and see what they can do.. If that doesnt work on your next cruise make sure to right away go to Casino Host and say you want to join Club Royale and to please RATE you. I feel like those are the magic words.. I happen to call Club Royale yesterday and again they couldnt tell me about the new program except that no matter what tier you will be in you will still always qualify for Casino Rates.. This makes me happy since i will probably be in the lowest tier.

I found this information about Club Royal, based upon this they should have welcomed you with open arms. Maybe another example of Royal saying the policy is this and then doing something completely different. I would suggest you talk to Royal in Miami and not the Club Royal Staff. And clearly lay out your case that you more than met the requirements and you were no invited. And ask if the actions are discrimination again you? Anything you say this word and it is possible it changes what the companies say and do. Because no company wants a complete filed, you could also state that you feel their actions warrant a dispute of your credit card.

I believe if you talk to a supervisor in guest services that they will see this is corrected. Or you could not rock the boat and just wait. Me I never get sea sick so I don't mind rocking the boat.

In order to qualify for Royal Caribbean Club Royale rewards the participants have to play a minimum of two hours per day during the duration of their cruise and place the following minimum bets: Slots at $5.00 per spin, Blackjack/Dice at $50.00 per hand/roll, or Three Card Poker/Caribbean Stud/Let It Ride/Roulette at $25.00 per hand/spin."

In yet another strange twist I am now receiving brochures in the mail with casino Royale offers. Do only players club members receive these? This particular one is titled "score some thrills on the house" and has a golf theme. It is specific to casino Royale and offers complementary green fees and cart exc in Bermuda on 2 anthem of the seas sailings.

Interesting.  I never get anything through the mail from CR but I rarely get anything through the mail from RCI either nor do I get emails from CR.

As many have noted many, many times before, their mailing list and IT  skills are so hit-and-miss.  The only thing that's consistent is the inconsistency.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's a members only mailing, but I wouldn't be too surprised to be wrong. I did receive one of those myself. Mine included a comped inside cabin. Others at Cruise Critic have reported receiving it with comped balcony or just a "casino rate" offer.

  • 1 month later...

Good luck, Tony....and let us know how it's going.

Update**** I called back the CR phone number and the lovely "Connie" informed me that I am in fact now a member!!! I have not the faintest clue as to how or when I was enrolled? I immediately updated our family cruise on Harmony in 2017 and got more than $3k discount off the current promotion! Thanks for your knowledge and info!

Thanks!!! Does this mean I am in the club for good or do I need to prove my worth every time I get on a ship?

Well, that's an unknown at this point. Personally, I can't believe that CR would implement a program that required one to be continually reevaluated, but I have heard [limited] discussion that this may be the case.

1. Members would hate it

2. It would be a nightmare to administer program that was constantly in flux.

3. We have been told, for some time, that the new program would be modeled after typical land-based programs and a continuously changing program isn't consistent with most land-based programs

So I don't think it's true. I do think, however, that you will have to maintain some kind of baseline "activity" to maintain a high tier level. Example, I think you will have to cruise and display some high level of play on some periodic basis or be demoted to a lower tier level.

I don't think they will ever "kick you out", but they might revert you to a nominal tier level if you don't remain reasonably active.

I was told -a while back - that we will never lose the ability to take money on our Seapass account without the 5% convenience fee. Don't know whether that's true or not. Guess we'll find out at some point
