How many $1 will I need for a 7 night cruise?

Hello everyone!

Approx how many $1 USD will I need?  I know this is dependent on how we'll tip, but just a ball park.  I figure if we need more, I can go to guest services, but I'm going to my bank today (I'm in Canada).

Shuttle driver from rental car to port on embarkation day
Porters at embarkation
Porters at debarkation
Shuttle driver from port to airport
Tips for an occasional drink on board
Tips for one specialty dining (over and above)

I have $5 & $10 for additional tips for staff on board on top of gratuities already

Thanks!

It also depends on how many people are with you, using the same porter/ shuttle driver. When I cruise, there's usually two of us, tipping the porters a couple dollars each. So we just round up and give $5 to cover the group for porters (more if there's additional people in the party). We either take turns paying tips, or someone covers everything and then split it at the end of the trip.

Also, on a lot of excursions (especially tours) tips are expected at the end. So you may want to bring additional $5s and $10s beyond extra crew gratuities.

We normally take about 30-40 singles on a 7 day cruise in addition to the $5's,10's, and $20's  between the two of us we take about $200-300 in cash, she gambles and I do not. Cabin steward, and those in the dining room get a tip.  But as you already know the amount that you choose is your choice.  Happy sailing and I hope that you guys have an absolutely AMAZING time!!

My recommendation is just go to the guest services and or casino cashier to get 1's when you need them on the ship.

Thanks, but I will need some before I get on the ship (shuttle driver, porter ..).  Thanks for the tip about the casino cashier, very helpful when the lines are long at GS.

We took $60 in 1's for a 5 night for the 2 of us, and that wasn't nearly enough. So I would take at least 100 (or as suggested above, just go get more when you need them!)

I think we brought $100 last time, I can't remember.  Thank you!

Just the two of us, thanks.  We're not doing any excursions this time around (I don't think so), but thanks for the reminder in case we change our minds!

I usually bring $20-30 in singles, depending on length of cruise, and figure one $5 for each time I plan on using a porter and have an excursion (times 2 of us).   Then I add about $40 in tens, depending on how many excursions or taxis we need to take.  Rest is in $20s.  I do not tip a $1 with every single drink.  Many times I'm walking up to the bar, asking for a beer, and walking away.  I have my singles for the bars I hang out at all the time, to reward the bartenders that actually make me mixed drinks or something that requires more than handing me a can.  LOL
