melmar02
I just heard on another cruise podcast that Carnival started selling 9 night sailings from Galveston on their Radience beginning May 2021. They will have a couple different itineraries - eastern Caribbean and partial Panama Canal. With an Oasis ship coming to Galveston once the new terminal is built, do you think Royal will expand beyond their typical western Caribbean offerings? BB1
I can't imagine that they would only use their brand new terminal once a week. I'm guessing they will have more ships and possibly something from Celebrity.
brycemo
Unfortunately, Oasis Class is too large to do Panama Canal sailings. Empress of the Seas is the only ship that Ould comfortably fit, with Sovereign of the Seas and Vision Class ships being a tight squeeze so I'm not 100% sure. And Empress is based West Coast until mid-2021 so far, so nothing in the near future. Unfortunately Panama Canal is looking slightly unlikely. On the other hand, Western Caribbean sailings are not impossible.

The canal was expanded so the new locks could in theory take Quantum class. Partial Panama would be like an Alaska cruise that goes to one Alaska port. Royal has one partial Panama from Florida next year. Maybe they are trying it to test the partial idea. Royal needs to do something in Galveston to spice up their repetitive routes. ssb
Royal will have an Oasis ship in Galveston , no earlier than Fall 2021 and no later than Spring 2022
Oliver
I’m assuming we will know more when deployment is announced next month.

They have to build the new terminal first. It won't be in 2020. For entirely selfish reasons, I'm hopeful it will be late spring 2021.
