I'm one of the lucky few that never gets sick, even in the roughest of seas. I always assumed crew members had lead stomachs, guess not LOL.

On the topic, how does sick time work on a ship? I'd assume you're encouraged to tough it out, but what if you're that bad?

I actually don't know the answer to this, because I've never taken a sick-day in the 5 contracts I've done.

As far as I'm aware, if we take a sick day, we get payed less for that day. When I was working in the shops, we would lose that days pay completely.

So slight change of plan.

Instead of flying to Spain, to join Oasis for the crossing, I'll be joining the ship now once it arrives in Fort Lauderdale.

So, I'll be flying to Miami now from Orlando in 2 weeks. And I'll have 1 night in a hotel, to relax before joining the ship. I much prefer this!

@CHRIS WONG So it looks like Oasis dry dock is done. Will u be able to get on the ship before the 24th? We are all want to see the changes and updates,

I'm scheduled to join on the 20th. Hopefully I'll have time to do tour of the ship before the first cruise starts.

@CHRIS WONG do you or family members get discounted rates for cruises? Do you get discounted airfare or hotel rates?

As far as I'm aware, I do get a discount if I book a cruise for myself and family. I've never actually done this so I'm not sure what my discount is.

When I'm joining a ship for a contract, my flights and hotels are payed for.

@CHRIS WONG are casino host able to offer some sort of comps or anything to guess? For example here the casino host gives me free hotel stays, food, concert tickets, special events tickets etc.

On cruise ships we don't do things like this. The main thing we do is reward players with discounts and future free cruises.

Obviously not enough. Do you?

Not even close ?
But I'm playing the long game, you see I'm luring the Casino in to a false sense of security by deliberately losing and once I have them where I want them..... I'll strike!
Thats my story and I'm sticking to it

Well, thanks for investing in the amplifications!! Someone has to pay for it! Haha!! Don't think people really win big on the ships. I'll play a small amount for amusement.

@CHRIS WONG, I know it would be an expense, but is there some possibility you could invest in a gimbal for recording? I like to watch the videos, but I'm really susceptible to motion sickness; I'm afraid that your videos are shaky enough that I start feeling queasy in about 5 minutes. Have to pause them, stop for a while, then pick up again to be able to watch a full one. ?

Is this a joke? I hope so. If not this may be one of the rudest things I’ve ever seen on here.

No, I'm quite serious. My motion sickness is so bad that I can't play, or watch someone playing, a first-person shooter game with lots of running around and rapid turning for more than two minutes without getting queasy. I can't ride in any car or bus without a clear window view (i.e., no sitting in the middle surrounded by strap hangers), and I can't watch a single movie that has been shot using hand-held cameras (e.g., The Hurt Locker, Blair Witch Project). And yes, I get sea sick if the motion in the ocean becomes really noticeable and I don't have a view out the window. My last trip on Anthem, for the second such trip in the row, the motion in the ocean on the last sea day was bad enough that I had a really hard time for a good chunk of the evening.

Motion sensitivity is a real thing, and I've had it pretty bad my entire life. I can't explain why, but but for me it's by far the worst with camera motion (real or simulated). I phrased my request as politely as I could, knowing it was going to sound weird no matter what. I truly enjoy watching vlogs like these, but I just can't do it if the end result is that I'm going to literally become physically ill within a few minutes.

Why would he spend his hard earned money to combat your motion sickness? If watching the videos are that important to you then perhaps send him the necessary equipment.

Which is why I prefaced my comment with (emphasis added):

My impression of Chris is that he is attempting to be a serious vlogger, maybe even an influencer to get people more interested in Royal. He is actively trying to grow a subscriber base, putting out videos very regularly covering a wide range of aspects about ship life, and doing other things that bolster this impression.

As such, a very common piece of equipment that I am aware the vast majority of influencers and serious vloggers invest in at some point is a gimbal.

I made as polite a request as I could figure out the words for, and Chris is perfectly free to ignore it if it's totally impractical.

Done here. Chris, very sorry for this particular sidetracking of your thread.

You can justify the request however you would like. I just thought it was rude to ask someone to purchase an expensive piece of equipment to make your life easier.
