Thank you for sharing your experiences.  It's fun to live vicariously through your videos.

I wish I had known about this whole thing 25 years ago.  ?

Thank you for watching! Yes, I seem to be inspiring other people to want work on ships. The response to my content has been amazing.

Great video. Does Royal Caribbean encourage internal transfers and such? Is it up to you as an employee to seek out other opportunities for your career goals?

We have a jobs posting board in our crew areas of all the new positions onboard. We essentially get to see new jobs before anyone else.

Of course, it comes down to ourselves to seek out career opportunities.

Early 2000's a friend was trying to get me to sign up with him for jobs. I never did, he never did, wish I did. Back then I had nothing to lose and could have used the opportunities presented. Oh well ?

It's funny, because right now, I look forward to the day I am a guest onboard - and not a crew member.

Hi Chris - I will be on Mariner the week of 12/9-12/13.  Can you let me know if they have any Texas No Limit Hold em poker games?  I'm interested in a real game, not sitting around some electronic type table playing poker.  Hope to meet you when we cruise.  Thanks.

We have a no-limit cash game, every night from 7pm!

$100 buy-in. $2/$5 starting blinds.

@CHRIS WONG, I know it would be an expense, but is there some possibility you could invest in a gimbal for recording? I like to watch the videos, but I'm really susceptible to motion sickness; I'm afraid that your videos are shaky enough that I start feeling queasy in about 5 minutes. Have to pause them, stop for a while, then pick up again to be able to watch a full one. ?

Thanks for the tip. I'll look into this when I start making YouTube videos more on a full time basis.

@CHRIS WONG when I was on the Allure couple months ago, you could use your sail card to load the slot machine and charge it to the room. There's no fee for that but is there a fee for doing that at the tables? The sign at the cage said there could be a 5% fee.

Yes that is correct. 5% fee at the tables.

@CHRIS WONG do you know what your new job on Oasis will be? You didn't mention it in the video.

I'm still going to be the Assistant Casino Host, but with a lot more responsibility. This will help me step up to a Casino Host of my own ship very soon!

I just subscribed!

Man, I have so many questions, but first - congratulations on your transfer!   I have been on Lady O twice, and she is magnificent.  I hope that your new

position is good for and to you, and you can continue to work your way up.

I'm enjoying your vlogs, I've always been curious about life as an employee.

I'm not sure if this has been asked yet, but what do you do between contracts?  Do you work another job to pay the bills?  Along the same line, is there a required wait period between the end of one contract and the start of a new one?

Thank you so much! I'm really excited for this next phase in my career, and of course I can't wait to start making videos on Oasis!

I am usually home between 6-8 weeks in between contracts. Believe it or not, I enjoy travelling when I'm on my vacation period. I'm a huge Disney fan, and love spending time in Orlando. My last vacation period, I went travelling across the West Coast. Saw places like LA, San Fran, Yosemite, Joshua Tree - and also went to Vegas, the Grand Canyon.....just to name a few.

I also love having my time to rest and spend with family.

Curious , for your next job as Casino host , is it just on the job training or there is some land base cruise you need to take or some online training ?

All my training was done on the ship. Same with my position when is was in the shops.

When I was in the art gallery, there was 2 weeks training in Miami before joining the ship

So slight change of plan.

Instead of flying to Spain, to join Oasis for the crossing, I'll be joining the ship now once it arrives in Fort Lauderdale.

So, I'll be flying to Miami now from Orlando in 2 weeks. And I'll have 1 night in a hotel, to relax before joining the ship. I much prefer this!

They will fly you from Orlando to Miami?  Figured they would just send you via car service! Orlando is about 45-50 min from PC, Miami is like 3.5 hours from PC.

Today's topic! Do I get sea sick?

I'm one of the lucky few that never gets sick, even in the roughest of seas. I always assumed crew members had lead stomachs, guess not LOL.

On the topic, how does sick time work on a ship? I'd assume you're encouraged to tough it out, but what if you're that bad?
