Reusable Cups

I brought my Yeti cup and just poured the drink once it was made into my cup. A cold drink stays much cooler in a insulated cup.  If you have the drink package the cup provided is ok but it does get wet on the outside.  A good insulated cup is the best.

We typically carry reusable cups in our day to day travels.  Is this something that the ship can accommodate or will they want to use disposable cups?

Thanks all

You can use your own cups anywhere that is self serve, water, coffee, iced tea, etc. You cannot use them at the Coke Freestyle stations, if you have a drink package, as the cups are chipped and the machine needs to read them to dispense a beverage. As stated above, anywhere where the drink is dispensed for you, like a bar, will require you to transfer the drink, into your cup from a RC cup.

Happy Cruising!

Even at the self-serve coffee/water/tea areas you have to take one of the provided cups and use it to fill your reusable cup.

I along with a lot other people didn't.  Never saw any signs stating it was a rule. So I'm not sure.

On the Harmony there is a sign at the Cafe Promenade water station stating you should not fill up containers.   I can't remember what the signage is elsewhere, but I remember being annoyed watching someone place a thermos under the water spout directly in front of the sign...he should have filled a glass and then gone to a table for the transfer.

... and Royal takes all the flak for disease outbreaks!

I've seen signs like this in the Windjammer

I have seen them everywhere that I try to fill my YETI, I no longer carry water onboard, and am drinking water constantly so I always have my water bottle with me wherever I am on the ship (unless I know I will only be gone for a short while).  Past several cruises I have seen them anywhere from the Windjammer, to Sorrentos, and Cafe Promenade.  I know not to fill it directly from the tap and use a cup to transfer the ice and water to the YETI.  I know that I have sailed once and caught one serious cold that turned into a upper respiratory infection by the end of the cruise and that ruined my experience enough to ensure that I take all precautions not to infect my fellow travelers and that I take more precautions to protect myself!

Please don't give Royal ideas........before you know it..they will be handing out oars to help move the ship as part of your cruise...

We don't need anything else cut out or restricted or added to what is expected of us to bring ourselves....which will be justified by "saving" the environment while Royal saves $$ and adds to our inconvenience.....

When I was on our last cruise in the Solarium the bartenders would watch closely the water container.  Even if they were in the middle of making a drink they would stop making the drink and tell the passenger trying to refill their containers that for health and sanitary risks they must use the cups provided.

Some passengers would remark that is a waste of money for RCL making them use a clean plastic cup and throw it away when they could pour it directly into their container.  All that went through my mind when they said that, was these are probably the same passengers that I watch use the bathroom and don't wash their hands before they exit.

  •  I am not a paranoid of illness person, but ever since I did our 1st cruise, even on land now, I will grab a paper towel to open the door as I exit.  Only reason why is after watching so many people exit and not wash their hands, I will be darned if after washing my hands I grab the door right after them and risk the chance of getting sick due to the lack of them not realizing a ship is a petri dish of germs.

Off topic, but on topic.  My SIL cruised with us in July, she WAS an NCL only cruiser.  My BIL and his wife never cruised.  BIL is a germa phobe.  He remarked at dinner one night how impressed he was with RCL regarding constant cleaning, to include the golf clubs for mini-golf.  My SIL piled on and stated that she never saw this level on NCL (18 cruises).  She remarked that multiple times coming down the staircases at any given time of day they were wiping down the stair rails or by the elevator banks.  How even in the casino they were wiping down the machines.  She ended her remark by saying she now wonders how she never got sick on NCL, and how she would only be sailing RCL from here on out since they really try to reduce the risk of getting sick.

I don't expect guests to be germophobes but I do expect everyone to practice the most basic hygiene and food safety principles.

WARNING: THIS MAY BE GROSS

On my recent sailing, someone in the Windjammer on the Ovation picked his nose and then proceeded to hold the serving spoon to get his food.  I often wish I had gloves while getting my food at the WJ for this reason.  Even if they had already done the "washy-washy" at the entrance, you'll never know what they've gotten on their hands once inside.

A wonderful reason we always book the deluxe drinking package; we always grab a bottle or two of Pelligrino every time we pass a bar on the way to the room. Never have a problem filling our mini-fridge and stay hydrated the whole time. (in spite of our best efforts ? )
