Overnights on Coco Key?

Are there any updates on potential overnights at Coco Key? Or an easy way to search those itineraries if they already exist?

No overnights yet that I am aware of.

My hypothesis was that they were planning on using the Resort that they recently purchased at Freeport (Grand Lucayan or something like that) as their overnight vehicle but I fear Dorian may have ruined those plans (if that ever WAS the plan).

As far as the ship just staying overnight (as opposed to pax disembarking and remaining behind) I have seen no itins for that either.

I'll keep my eye out here. Sometime in the next 10 years we're going to get married on a beach somewhere, and a sunset wedding on Coco Key and reception on the ship while still having the next day as ANOTHER "perfect day" has started playing over in my head since @Matt's podcast yesterday. So if RC can make that happen before 2029, that'd be great. ?

I am sure its coming..they already offer cruises with 2 stops there in 4 days. be cheaper just to dock there...and they make more money off guests that way for sure..win win for Royal.

I am guessing they had plans for some kinda  experience with overnighting but as mentioned above, the hurricane may have delayed or changed those plans for years to come now.

Beyond me why anyone would want to overnight is closed amusement park.

Characterizing Perfect Day as "an amusement park" is a gross overgeneralization. Once you visit, I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how serene and enjoyable the island remains.  Disney World, it is not.

...and who says it would be closed anyway ?  No reason why most of the island couldn't remain open if there are guests there overnight.  Obviously they would not remain open ALL night but I would guess that they could have the water park and most of the restaurants, etc. open until fairly late.

Sunset ride on the Balloon... Moonlight ocean float... I could dig this!

This is all very hypothetical since there are no over nights at CC at this time but I could imagine a nighttime party with live music near the pool or beach,  night swimming (always fun), eating at the various restaurants.  I would think there would be a lot they could do at night.  They could even bring special bands along to give concerts at night.

Hard to say since this is a hypothetical situation but my guess is the casino would open at, say, 6 or 7 PM like it does at other overnight ports (i.e. Bermuda).

I'm guessing here....It would be up to the Bahamanian laws on gambling and fees imposed vs revenue generated by the casino.  If the casino cannot be open and the revenue generated by it not replaced with revenue generated by an over night stay as the limiting factor in an overnight stay at Cocoa Cay.  Otherwise I see it as a win for guest and RCI.

I think it would be great to stay over night.  The possibilities for fun and entertainment are great.

I would love to go on a two stop cruise or an overnight journey.  I know Mariner is starting 2 stops on its four night cruises in a week or 2, they will eliminate the sea day making it coco cay, Nassau, coco cay.  According to my head waiter from my recent trip in the next 1-3 weeks Navigator will start staying until 11pm instead of the usual 4:30-5:00.  I might have to book myself a last minute cruise on the Mariner to experience the double dip.

They Have Water Parks In Olando That Stay Open Until 12:00 At Night So Why Wont Coco Cay Water Park Do The Same?

Not sure but the water parks in Orlando probably have a larger pool of worker/staff.  (Pun intended!). With the ships having limited time in port and potentially days with no ships at all the staff is probably smaller and not likely to accommodate extended hours as easily.  They can always add more staff but that is not likely for a single day so they will probably wait until the workload increased.

  • 3 weeks later...

I think a beachside dance party with fireworks, live music, included beverages would be a lot of fun! You could have all day to relax and soak up the rays, and party into the wee morning hours. Sounds like a blast to me. Having cruised most of the Caribbean destinations, we are considering cruise itineraries that include multiple stops to Cocoa Cay and Labadee. We always have a blast on those days!
